Taliessin was visiting Oba once again, an annual trip she made to visit her aunts and cousins. It was a nice trip, and she got a chance to experience the hustle and bustle that was so different than her home. Part of the process included traveling on her own, but the path was so standard that she had little concern of such trips, and often would travel with the same merchants between the two cities. Overall, she felt safe and secure and it made the entire thing quite standard.
As she neared the entrance to Sulburi, she noticed there was a bit of a traffic jam. The man who she was traveling told her that it might be awhile until they made it through, so she might as well find a shaded place to rest while she waited. Nodding, and once more grateful her skin was always the dark tone of her father, she made her way to shade and accepted a water-fruit from one of the opportunistic vendors.

Firbrand somehow was stuck heading out to the entrance of the city, trying to find out why his father's order was late. By the time he realized the extent of the delays, he was already outside of the gates and was forced to 'get in line'. The frustration was clear on his face, and he peeled off the thick layer of clothing as he darted toward the shade where many others were lingering. The fact they wouldn't let him back in was something he'd most likely go and petition the state against.
Why did it matter? He didn't have any goods.
Landing in a cool spot, he glanced to the shifter to his right before realizing she was something more than that. A hybrid? She looked pretty enough, but didn't seem to be anything of intense interest. Or at least anything that would add value to his own life.

Taliessin glanced about with her pale eyes, using the shade of her hood to watch without being too blinded by the heat. She missed the muted humidity of Matori, something she took for granted anytime she wasn't in the desert. As she continued to sip out the water of the fruit as a way to cleanse her dry palette, she eyed the hybrid who approached nearby.
Hybrids were nothing new to her, in fact she appreciated them after all of the beauty they brought to her world. So she smiled lightly and nodded, curiously glancing about at his orange hair and bright blue eyes. A rare lightning hybrid, still quite new in the young world of Tendaji. Maybe this was interesting after all.

He was caught a little off guard by her eyes, a color that seemed out of sorts with her skin color. Maybe a Yaeli hybrid with the hair? As he looked at her closer, he confirmed indeed she looked to be Yaeli, an interesting combo in his own perception as they were still an illusive group.
Nodding back, he grabbed his own water fruit and cleared his throat.
"How long have you been waiting?" He asked curiously.

Taliessin finished her food and raised her brow at the question, leaning forward a little bit to whisper toward the somewhat attractive stranger before her.
"For you, not too long." She said with a languid smile, "For this?" She waved her hand toward the entrance, "Apparently I'll be waiting awhile. Such a shame."
She brushed her hand through her short hair before sighing, "I don't have anywhere to be, but I'd rather not be out here..."

Firbrand returned the smile tightly, not really open to the flirting of the elder woman. He still was trained well to be polite, so he didn't really insult or glare at her, simply ignored the attempt and focused on her second statement.
"Indeed..." He replied to the comment about shame, glancing about, "I merely came to check on an order and was stuck at the back of the line."

Taliessin hummed back in return, her eyes focused on a group of herders who were clearly frustrated at the delay. It seemed the Quhar they were transporting were growing restless. The girl narrowed her eyes, her senses tingling lightly at the sight.
"Maybe it's for the best we've found ourselves over here." She nodded back toward the beasts, who suddenly began to cry out and buck against their captors.
"Looks like we might be dealing with more delays..."

Firbrand's eyes glanced over to where the girl had gestured, a grunt coming out of his throat at the sight. He quickly assessed the area, and nodded once at her own observation.
"Maybe for the best we stay out of the way." He replied, as a few others began to react and back away from the disgruntled beasts. Quhar were friendly, but if provoked or threatened they could cause quite a bit of damage in their blind rush.

She felt a little nervous as the creatures began to act out, and moved a bit further out of the way. A few others rushed forward in an attempt to help calm the creature down, including some beast tamers. She hummed slowly before letting out a breath when the creatures fell under control. Chuckling nervously, she glanced toward the man.
"Wouldn't want to get in the way of one of those stampeding..." She said dryly, knowing how small she was would only make it worse if she were struck.

He too felt relived to see that the creatures fell under control, knowing that he was of little help. Thank goodness they had the guards and the staff to ensure that nothing dramatic would happen, a benefit of living in such a big city.
Turning back toward the hybrid, he raised a brow, "Indeed." was his dry response. He wasn't a big talker, especially with people he couldn't trust, so he too stood up and glanced about.
It seemed the watch realized the delays would cause problems and were starting to let people pass who weren't transporting goods.
"Looks like we can get in sooner than we thought."

She realized this guy was not a talker, let alone someone she could flirt with, and so Taliessin found herself growing cold to the interactions as well. She raised a brow in return at his dry response, before looking out and seeing the movement.
"Perfect, I really am sick of this sand and sun. I could use a bath."
She moved to stand, her dark skin stark against the sand, and took a few steps out of the shade.

Firbrand rolled his eyes as she moved away, a rare show of childishness and frustration, before he took a breath and moved to follow. They were going in the same direction, toward a side entrance where the guards were nodding for people to pass. He found himself pleased he was a little taller than the older girl, his growth spurt a little delayed but still active thankfully.
As they approached the entrance, both skipped through with little concern, having not much on them to search.

Making it through the gates, she found herself pausing a moment to get her bearings, before turning. She crosses paths with Firbrand, giving him one last nod and a smile, before her small feet rush off toward the Red. She was delayed and didn't want uncle Nuri to send out a search party, especially after the last time she didn't make it to the home right when expected.

Firbrand watched her cross by, and nodded in return. He had spent enough time searching for their order and would need to report back to his father. Thank goodness no one had gotten hurt, though it was interesting to see such activities considering he never went out as much as others. That and meeting the strange hybrid girl who disappeared in the crowd.
