Today she was taking a rare trip outside of the village. It wasn't a sense of wanderlust, but instead avoidance. It was cleaning day and Esmeray was eager to not participate in such activities.
And so, here she was, wandering through the woods outside of the village. It was a normal location many of the younglings traveled, so it was safe. And yet, the shifter girl found herself slightly on edge, and every so often she'd glance about to make sure she wasn't being followed.

He didn't like wandering so close to the shifter settlements, it was something that he had mentally trained himself to avoid. Yet here he was, wandering close without realizing it. It was mostly because he was chasing a hunt and lost track of the grounds, and found himself nearly in the clearing around the shifter home.
Cursing himself for his oversight, he backed away into the woods quickly, but not before he realized there was a shifter nearby. Surely she heard him. It wasn't like he was being quiet.

Esmeray was not so keen on focusing on trees, instead looking through the woods. Maybe there were a few stray Sitara - and not so many spitorogs. Either way, she was curiously peering into the shadows of the forest, and didn't notice until the snap of a leaf that someone was lingering up in the trees. Gasping, she moved quickly back and peered up into the foliage, heart hammering. Was it an Alkidike?

Well he was spotted, which meant there was no reason to slink away and the bulky hybrid jumped down. He was about Earthling size, but more muscular than post, and he stood out with his dark coloring. He was sure he was intimidating to an earthling who maybe was a bit sheltred.
"Sorry." He grumbled out, "Didn't realize I was this close to the settlement...didn't mean to scare you."

She waved it off, her eyes wide and her mouth popping open in a wide surprised look at the bulky man who dropped down. She couldn't place his looks beyond Alkidike markings, so it was a crazy combo that she almost found herself oogling.
Swallowing, she nodded once and cleared her throat.
"No problem, I don't mind seeing a visitor. I'm Esmeray." She added lastly.

"Crocus" He replied once, his own eyes studying her a long moment as he perked his brow in interest. Before he could continue on, a noise behind them made him pause. It was like a wet step, and he turned his head and held up his hand a moment for her to wait.
"Something here?" He asked her.

She stepped on her toes and peered around his bulk to look out, shaking her head once before stepping back.
"Mostly we see Sitara around here...oh and Spitorog-" She gulped as the sound came off again, and she stepped back. Her skin shivered a moment, "Oh no...no no no..." she said as her face paled a bit.

At the comment, he turned and let his shoulders drop. Both of those creatures were common and easy to manage, but the girl seemed terrified at the thought of the bubbling creature. Another wet slop sounded behind them, before the creature in question jumped into the open. And then another. And another.
Soon enough, nearly a dozen of them had appeared, their eyes peering unblinkingly at the two.

As the creatures jumped out, she found herself frozen in fear and disgust. Her eyes were wide as she looked at them peering back, looking into her soul, and she felt herself grow nauseous almost.
"No..." She said shaking her head once more, ignoring the curious look from the stranger as she slowly took a step back.
When her foot moved, one of the creatures jumped forward.

He found himself holding in a laugh at the pale Shifter as she moved away, him too stepping back as the mass of Spitorogs began to hop slowly toward her. It was almost as if they were attuned to her fear, and interested enough to want to act upon it. Or maybe this was something they did in the past to terrorize her.
"They seem to like you, Esmeray." He joked with a smirk.

"WELL I DO NOT LIKE THEM!" She shrilly called out in response, her back pedaling speeding up as they croaked and followed.
"I'd really like to get to know you, Crocus...but it seems I have somewhere to be." Her pace of words picked up as she kept eye contact, ready to dart away if they decided to jump.

He barked out a laugh at that, moving to step further away and watch as the Spitorog continued their march toward the shifter.
"You have a good day, then. Shame we couldn't get to know each other."

At the goodbye, she nodded once before suddenly darting away through the village and around the pace. She could hear (or so she thought) the creatures running after her, and she ignored the curious looks of her tribesmen as she groaned and nearly cried in her fear.
Curses, she wished she had a chance to ask the man some questions. But she take a chance of getting touched by the slimey, bubbly, creatures. Not today, not never.

His laughter echoed as he too disappeared in the opposite direction. While he was caught, he didn't mind the little interaction. Maybe he'd have to check in later and see if the little Shifter survived the attack.
