Quote: Space 0:You have arrived here; nothing happens until you roll your die. It felt like an age since he had last powered up as Oort and yet in some ways things were still the same.
Destiny City was still weird around the holidays–
And he was still a chibi, albeit a nineteen year old chibi and soon to be a twenty year old one as Oort couldn't see him managing to change things in the days between now and his twentieth birthday.
The weirdness was the part that was key here however, one moment Oort reaching down to pick up the dice that had caught his eye and the next finding himself here–
Wherever here was.
Oort idly tossed the dice in his hands absently, the gilded numbers tumbling around before settling on a number–
And then he found himself doing his best to swallow a yelp as a strange force shoved him unceremoniously forwards.

Quote: Space 1:You feel eyes upon you, and hear a faint chuckling, like you’re the butt of someone’s joke. It sets a bad mood for the rest of this game; you’re already being judged–and, it looks like a long road ahead. Oort wasn't really sure how to feel once the strange force had mysteriously fallen away to leave him standing on what seemed to be the next space over–
Especially as he could definitely hear laughing, faint though it was, almost if it was some person's idea of a really, really bad joke.
He huffed irritated, but rolled the dice in his hand again nevertheless because rolling it on the previous square had been enough to do something and so hopefully rolling it a second time would be enough to make whatever it was work again.

Quote: Space 5:A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds. Oort had still been feeling a little irritated from the previous space after the strange force from before had finishing pushing him towards this new space–
And whilst he was fully capable of walking, it seemed like the strange was going to push him regardless of his feelings on the matter.
Oort huffed again and took a few steps, only to pause when he heard the loud growl–
The hairs on his arm started rising as the growl that was followed up by loud barking appeared to be getting closer and closer.
Oort took a few steps back, because it seemed like a seriously bad idea to try and break out into a run–
Which meant that trying magic was also out - because whilst he had yet to use his senshi magic, it only seemed to give him the speed boost which seemed like it would be a good way to end up getting himself chased in this case.
So instead he had ended up rolling the dice - because it wasn't as if he had many options and that dog still appeared to heading in his direction–
And it appeared to be just as well that he had - because he was pretty sure that he had seen something lunging towards him in the darkness even as the strange force pushed him out of the space and onwards.

Quote: Space 10:A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand. After his escape from the 'dog' space Oort could honestly say that he wasn't particularly feeling it–
And he was feeling it even less when he took a step forward only to find his foot sinking into ooze.
Well okay mud, swamp mud if the smell was anything to go on.
Oort took another step with the intention to try and find somewhere less muddy, only to find the mud creeping over sandaled feet and then up past his sandals as he started sink into the smelly ooze.
Then the stuff was up past his ankles and nearly up to his knees–
And there was only one thing for it - for him to do his best to roll the dice and hope that the strange force would once again come and push him onwards - because Oort didn't exactly want to go out by sinking into swamp mud.

Quote: Space 14:The ground is sticky. You land on this and immediately dip, as though you’ve stepped on a trampoline. Close inspection reveals that you are standing on an intricately woven web–and your shoes are stuck. And something is skittering just on the horizon. Somehow and Oort wasn't really to sure how, he had managed to roll the dice–
But it had been enough for the weird force and had been enough to get him away from the 'swamp' square and so he was counting it as a win.
Although he was counting as less of a win when he landed on the ground of the next space and it dipped beneath him almost as if he had somehow landed on a trampoline.
It wasn't a trampoline, because his sandals appeared to be stuck - and they wouldn't have been stuck on an actual trampoline–
Instead closer inspection - aka him staring downwards at his feet and his immediate surroundings - suggested that he had been dumped in what appeared to be some sort of spider's web.
A giant spider's web.
Oort rolled the dice, because he could remember the year when giant spiders had up and invaded the Destiny City Botanical gardens and he had no wish to find out whether the thing that had started up skittering in the distance was some sort of relative.

Quote: Space 20:The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best. Oort had been bracing himself as the strange force pushed him into the next space - which was hardly surprising since to date he had found himself dumped in the 'dog' square, the 'swamp' square and the 'spider web' squares respectively–
And so it had felt a little anticlimactic when he had been pushed onto solid ground and nothing had tried to jump out at him.
Truthfully it was kind of pretty, although Oort didn't particularly want to linger, as he opted to instead march over to what appeared to be some sort of portal–
A portal with a beautiful, opalescent aura.
Oort stepped through because of course he did, and a part of him couldn't help but hope that this time around he would end up back in Destiny City - and so he had been very relieved when he had–
Even if it wasn't something that Oort was planning to admit to - at least not openly and out loud.
