Space 0:
You have arrived here; nothing happens until you roll your die.

Sadalsuud had actually been on her way to feed the stray cats down across the park when her shoe had dislodged and sent the small wood stained object tumbling and had crouched down to take a closer look–

She hadn't expected the harsh wind that had suddenly slammed into her however as her fingers closed around what had turned out to be a die, or the darkness that had sprung up all around her.

Had neither expected it or liked it.

Sadalsuud's first instinct had been to turn around and try walking away in the opposite direction to the strange set of spaces that had suddenly illuminating themselves.

Maybe there was a mirror, maybe some way out that didn't involve the weird spaces.

There wasn't a mirror, but there was that had felt like walking into a glass wall that Sadalsuud definitely didn't want to experience again–

And she wasn't sure what made her eventually decide to idly roll the die in her hand, but it had at least seemed to do something - even if Sadalsuud wasn't sure she liked the way that the strange force had suddenly shoved her forwards and onwards.

Space 4:
Something smells rotten. You can’t see very far into the darkness, but if you squint closely a dark form seems to be dragging itself along the ground. Sometimes you see a pale hand almost close enough to grab you–or, maybe something does grab you. It’s cold, and frightening, and it’s trying to drag you out of bounds.

Sadalsuud had liked it even less when the strange force had finally stopped pushing at her and left her–

Had left her well wherever this place was.

She wrinkled her nose, the stench immediately assaulting her nostrils with the scent of something putrid - as if something had been left to gone off, but had reached the point where it had pretty much started to juice–

Like when her Papa had forgotten about the cucumber and it had ended up as pretty much a puddle of smelly ooze.

But at least back then they had gotten cucumber seeds out of it - and a couple had even grown.

The darkness was making her nervous as was the fact that Sadalsuud had been pretty sure that she'd caught something shuffling along–

Well okay maybe not a hundred percent sure but it had felt like she had seen something for a moment

She rolled the die in her hand for a second time. It had done something once so maybe it could do something again–

Like get her away from the creepy square.

Space 5:
A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds.

The strange force from before had returned and whilst it hadn't pushed her quite as far as it had the first time around, it had been enough to push her out and away from the dark, creepy and smelly space–

Although Sadalsuud wasn't quite sure that this particular space was much better, not with all the growling and barking that had started up from somewhere behind her.

The barking was very loud as if the dog was either very close or very big - and Sadalsuud wasn't sure if she wanted to particularly find out which it was - not given the fact that the dog didn't sound as if it was particularly happy that she had been dropped into its space.

"Nice doggie" she said nervously, voice trembling as she took a couple of steps backwards "Nice.."

Her voice broke off with a yelp as the dog broke out into yet more noisy barking. suddenly remembering the die in her hand as her hand clenched nervously around it.

So she had rolled it yet again in the hopes that it would once again up and do something, because that barking had sounded like it was definitely getting closer and Sadalsuud definitely didn't want to meet the source of it - and it had felt like an age before the strange force had once again sprung up to push her onwards, the beating of her heart sounding loud in her ears as the dog got close enough for her to feel hot breath and spittle–

And close enough for her to feel the rush of air before the force kicked in and pushed Sadalsuud's stumbling feet onwards.

Space 10:
A swampy smell fills the air. You take a step, and you seem to sink into it. Mud creeps over your feet, and you sink rapidly. Ankle deep, knee deep. Whether or not you squirm and fight against it, you are sinking. The mud is crushing and painful, and if you sink too deep it steals the breath from your lungs. There’s nothing to grab onto; you have to roll your dice quickly before that too gets sucked into the muddy quicksand.

Sadalsuud stumbled into the next space and found herself immediately sinking into mud that sloshed rapidly over green sandals that were no way equipped to go mud-slogging.

Sadalsuud her nose and tried to step out of the stuff, because whilst the mud didn't smell nearly as bad as the smelly and creepy space from earlier it still smelt like a swamp and came complete with the flies–

And it took a few moments for it to sink in that she was actually sinking, only sinking in when she tried to move her feet and couldn't, mud creeping up her stockings as something in the stuff continued to inexorably suck her down.

Ankle deep, then knee deep, her earlier movements only seeming to exacerbate the sinking, pain creeping up Sadalsuud's legs almost as if following the path of the mud–

And it was accident more than intent that had her throwing the die, but it seemed like it was enough to count for the strange force to manifest enough to push her out of the horrible space.

Space 13:
At first, the square is quiet. Nothing seems amiss. It’s unnerving in how safe it seems. But then, it only takes a few seconds before you understand why. It’s just taken a moment for them to get to you. The patter of tiny feet is rapidly approaching. There’s no light to see them, but there’s a reflection in their beady eyes. Rats. Thousands of them. Chittering, frothing in the mouth. These are strangely grotesque, mutated abominations. They’re running at you like they haven’t got a fear in the world–only, hungry. And rage. If they get to you, they’ll eat you alive. The ground is trembling with their weight. You’d better roll quickly if you don’t wind up a meal.

The new space had been.. Quiet.

An odd quiet.

There was no dog trying to eat her, or swamp trying to drown her or whatever the shuffling thing was in the smelly, creepy space–

Because whilst Sadalsuud hadn't seen for sure, she was pretty sure that there had been something in the creepy, smelly space.

But it was quiet in this particular space and Sadalsuud was quite happy to take the quiet and try to catch her breath–

Only it seemed like she wasn't going to be so lucky as the sound of chitterling chose that moment to start up, a glimmer of something reflecting back at her as it belatedly dawned on Sadalsuud that something was coming in her direction.

Or more think somethings, many somethings, the glimmer reflecting at her coming from eyes, thousands of them all fixed on her.

Sadalsuud gave a shriek and reared back automatically, hand clenching round the die before she managed to get enough presence of mind to actually roll it.

Space 14:
The ground is sticky. You land on this and immediately dip, as though you’ve stepped on a trampoline. Close inspection reveals that you are standing on an intricately woven web–and your shoes are stuck. And something is skittering just on the horizon.

The next space was close enough to the previous space for Sadalsuud to still hear all the angry chitterling.

The ground on this particular space also seemed pretty sticky given the way that it had immediately dipped beneath her feet from the moment that Sadalsuud stumbled onto it.

It was only when she realised that her shoes appeared to be stuck once again that Sadalsuud actually took a closer look at the ground and found that it was actually effectively one giant spider web–

One that was mercifully sans spider - at least for the moment.

Not that Sadalsuud was particularly planning to wait for the spider to show up.

She wasn't particularly fond of the garden variety and most definitely didn't want to meet anything that could make webs that size–

And so instead she had rolled the die and hoped that the strange force would once again push her onwards.

Space 15:
Bats. Maybe you missed them attacking earlier, but they’re back again, and angrier than ever. Instead of just screeching or scratching, they’re swooping down and biting now–and the effects are instantaneous. The little teeth are sharp and painful, but once bitten you might feel agitated and prone to violence, and you might feel perpetually cold and hungry with no relief in sight. The effects might last when you leave the square–or they might linger for a few hours or days after you get out of here.

The strange force had indeed pushed Sadalsuud onwards–

Onwards that is straight into a bunch of bats - a couple of which had even bitten her.

She felt cold, cold and strangely hungry, her belly grumbling even as the bats screeched and swooped towards her as if out for blood.

Her blood.

Sadalsuud's stomach rumbled again, her thoughts drifting towards her mother and how some of her battered prawn and chilli sounded really good right about now - well at least right about now and sans the bats.

She managed to roll the die eventually, although it hadn't stopped another bat from almost biting her again before the mysterious force once again whisked her off.

Space 20:
The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best.

It had taken even longer than it had with the space with the chitterling horde for Sadalsuud to realise that she had finally managed to reach a space which didn't have things that wanted to either attack her such as pretty much most of the spaces that she had had the misfortune to be pushed into–

This time around actually appeared to be the real deal however.

Sadalsuud found herself eventually approaching the portal with the pretty and opalescent aura, but only after she had rolled the die that had pushed her from one space to another and found that the strange force no longer seemed to be appearing.

Hopefully this portal would definitely be the thing that would finally take her back and not say drop her into freezing cold water or something.

Sadalsuud called on her basic level magic, because she could really do with some luck and whilst she still wasn't sure just how her magic worked, maybe the fact that it was a clover would allow for some luck to come her way–

And then with the medium-sized glowing four-leaved clover that was her magic to hand, Sadalsuud stepped through the portal.

((did not reach the end after 5 rolls))
