Prompt 6: The Leaves
With the changing seasons, there are piles of leaves all around Destiny City. It’s a difficult job to try and keep up with them all, and sometimes the allure of these leaf piles is impossible to ignore. Who doesn’t want to relive the childish joys of their youth? And no one’s around to see, right? So why not jump into a pile of leaves? Oh–because, when you do, you jump through one pile and come out of another somewhere else across the city. The leaves all seem ordinary, but there’s a few odd seconds between when you jump into the leaves and when you jump out; it feels like falling, tumbling, somersaulting through the air. It’s not scary, just odd. You see walls of leaves–brown and orange and yellow and red–and they crunch magnificently. Overall, it doesn’t seem menacing, just a bit of trickster fun. If you try to jump in a pile of leaves again, you might wind up somewhere else entirely–or right back where you started.
Amaterasu hummed to herself happily as she skipped along the empty sidewalk, she was patrolling an neighborhood near her home and she felt like it was the perfect night to be out exploring. The air was crisp but it wasn't too cold yet and the trees had turned such pretty colors. The young Senshi of the Sunrise was giddy she couldn't wait until Halloween when she'd get tons of candy. She had gotten pretty good at sneaking out of her room after her parents thought she had gone to bed. The little Senshi felt bad for tricking her parents but it was important that she do her job as a senshi even if she was only a chibi senshi. She often patrolled with her older sister but she didn't want to only rely on her sister's strength so she liked to sometimes patrol on her own too. So she made her way down the dim and deserted street.
She couldn't sense any chaos monsters here. She was a little disappointed that there was no youma for her to fight but she supposed that meant she could go back home early. However just when she turned to head home the young girl spotted a perfect leaf pile. It was almost like the pile was calling to her, daring her to jump in it. 'How could any kid be expected to just ignore a leaf pile like that.' She thought to herself. She looked around for a movement making sure now one was there to witness her jumping into the leaves and once she was sure the coast was clear she ran towards the pile leaping an impressive distance into the air thanks to her enhanced physical abilities. She landed into the leaves in a fit of giggles.
However something very strange happened when she did that, she didn't hit the ground like she would have expect instead it felt like she was still tumbling through the air for a few more seconds than she should have, it wasn't scary for the little girl however instead she just found the sensation odd. Eventually she popped back up out of the leaves realized she was not on the same street anymore. The houses all looked different she looked around and spotted a street sign that confirmed she was indeed in a different part of the city. "What how did I get here?!" She asked to no one in particular as she looked back at the leaves. "It must be a magical leaf pile!" She practically screamed with giddiness as she once again leapt into the leaves wondering if it would take her back or to a new place. This time she popped out of a leaf pile in a park. She continued this routine for a while popping out of leaves all across the city before she eventually landed back at her starting point. The little senshi decided that was enough and she should probably call it a night but she couldn't wait to tell her big sister all about the magical leaf portals.
