[ Liio 1 ]

He was traveling on his own away from his sister, something they didn't do too often. However when you're always with your siblings, it's often nice to get away a little bit before you decide to strangle each other.

And so, Liio was wandering about as he headed toward Jauhar, taking his time and appreciating the sights he traveled through since he was young. Maybe it was time to go visit his father, it had been awhile since he last spent time with him in Tale.

As he considered such things, he realized the rolling hills were filled with the grains and plants ripe for harvest, and thought it might be fun to find somewhere he could work a bit to restock his rations.

Being out and about was nothing new for Kayde lately. He never seemed to stay in one place for very long. It was almost like being with the trope, again, traveling around and seeing different places. The only difference being he returned to the same room in Neued after each job was finished.

The young Leaf hopped off the back of the cart, turning a smile on the older Shifter who had been driving it. He thanked the man for the lift before turning towards the fields he would be working in. He'd have to stay here for the full amount of time it would take for everything to be harvested, but that was fine with him. He was used to it. Sometimes he would take his blankets when he still worked as an acrobat and sleep under the stars, beside the wagon that served as his home for many years.

After securing his bag inside the house he would be staying in for the duration of his trip, he walked up to the first person he saw when he returned to the fields, offering a friendly smile. "Hello. I assume we shall be co-workers for a little bit. I'm Kayde."

[ Liio 2 ]

Turning to glance at the voice who spoke up, the tall hybrid nodded once, "It appears to be the case. I'm Liio. I assume you're a fellow traveler?"

He glanced over Kayde's outfit, recognizing the signs of someone who was used to moving from place to place with a light load. Maybe the leafling was working off a debt, or a stay like himself. Either way, he was grateful to have a helping hand considering his sister wasn't here to keep him company this time around.

"We've got our work cut out for us today..."

Hoshi Lockhart
I think you recently grew Kayde? NBD if you'd like to drop this one.

Kayde 2

"I was once," the Leaf answered with an easiness that also answered the question. It never mattered where he was, Kayde was comfortable and relaxed everywhere, be it familiar grounds or strange lands, as these were now. He hadn't expected the cart to roam so far from Neued. He knew he'd be spending a while here before he'd be released to return back home, so it wasn't as if Elka wouldn't know not to expect to see him for a while. "Kind of settled down a bit since than. Never thought I would."

He cleared his throat, feeling like he'd said a bit too much already about his life. It wasn't polite to just talk about oneself when you first start a conversation with a stranger. He looked over the field instead, smoothing the hair back from his eyes. "Aye. Might take a while. I don't see many other workers." Hefting a sickle onto his shoulder, Kayde grinned, actually looking forward to the work. "Harvesting the grain should be fun. I've never done that before."

Elyessi
Doesn't Liio still need the points? We can keep going.

[ Liio 3 ]

The man before him was petite, didn't strike Liio as someone who traveled a bunch. But looks were deceiving, especially in Tendaji where the magical could find ways to compensate for their lack of ability. So he accepted the thought as that, didn't question it, and looked back at their task at hand.

"I can understand that. My sister and I travel across the lands. Sort of routine now, habit even." back and forth and back again.

Liio then laughed a little at the comment, watching him heft the sickle up, "Darn, thought I might be able to hide behind your skill."

I appreciate you <3

Kayde 3

Liio was taller than Kayde, causing him to arch his head up just slightly so he wasn't looking through his eyelashes at the other man. Not that it was much of a bother to him. He'd always considered himself a little on the short side, though still fairly close to average height. He was very curious about this hybrid, wondering if the traveling life hadn't been something he had always planned on doing. But instead, he kept any questions to himself. Not everyone like prying questions about their past.

"It was like that for me once. A routine of moving from one town to the next." Shifting the sickle on his shoulder, the Leaf offered a chuckle of his own at his own joke, tilting his head slightly to one side. "Ah, sorry to disappoint. I was an acrobat, not a farmer. The most picking I ever did was off market stalls." Point to the tool, he added, "You want a go at this after a while? I don't want to hog all the fun."

Elyessi
Aw, thanks! <3

[ Liio 4 ]

An acrobat? That was something he hadn't encountered yet. Liio examined the man before him, quickly coming to the conclusion that yes, this man did strike him as one who would fly through the air. Or so he assumed, he wasn't someone who had been to a circus in this life.

He almost refused, but took a little pity on his new companion, and nodded once at the offer.

"I'm not sure where we'll land, but for now the wandering life suits us just fine. Though I think she wants to find a place near our mother, up in the mountains."

The conversation helped pass the task along just fine, and made it easy to focus on that instead of the strain of muscle. Man, he really needed to work on his physical muscles instead of his mental ones.

Kayde 4

The work wasn't easy and Kayde wasn't about to pretend like it was. He held the scythe off to the side, making sure Liio wasn't anywhere near where he planned on swinging the blade. Each swish of it through the stalk of the grain also elicited a sound out of him, a grunt each time the tool finished its arc in the air. He had always been a somewhat lithe kid growing up. All the better to have taken up an acrobatic job. It had turned out he had been perfect for all the tumbles, jumps, and high-wire acts. From what he could tell of his companion, he seemed to be not much different, more lean than bulk.

But who knows? Sometimes people were hiding some secrets underneath lots of layers. He wasn't about to judge.

"Whatever makes you happy," he agreed, giving the scythe one last swing before leaning it against the ground for a small break. "I enjoyed it. It was great meeting people from all different corners of life and all the equally different ways they live. I know it's not for everyone. My girlfriend quickly discovered it wasn't for her."

[ Liio 5 ]

Whatever makes him happy. At the moment, Liio didn't really consider much of his own happiness. Instead he thought of his sister, her journey with her magic, and was content to join her on such adventures. Yet, eventually he would need to settle down, maybe find a lover and start a family. Or be a great uncle to his sister's. It was still so much to consider and the wayward man never really considered much of it these days.

"You think you'll need to settle down soon?" He teasingly asked in response.

Kayde 5

Kayde was in the middle of stretching out sore arms when the sudden turn of a question made him freeze, fingers still twined around each other above his head. A blush of embarrassment slowly crept over his face as he lowered his arms to his sides. He cleared his throat, unsure how to proceed from here. He registered the tease but that didn't make the topic any easier to navigate around.

"I...I don't think we're quite...there," he managed, grabbing at the sickle for a distraction, so his hands had something to fidget with other than maybe his hair or shirt. It was the natural course of a relationship, he knew, to end up sharing a home together. Maybe have some kids. Marriage. It wasn't like it hadn't crept into his mind before. Even though that was why he was taking all these odd jobs to raise money, so that they could buy a house for themselves over in Matori, it didn't mean they'd be sharing a bed right away. There was no rush. "I mean, that is why I'm trying to earn money....You mentioned something about a sister? " He cleared his throat once more, trying to steady it, the flush still evident on his cheeks. "Going to give up the wandering life to live in the mountains, too?"

[ Liio 6 ]

If he noticed the stutter from his companion, Liio made no note to it. Instead, he continued the movements of the work at hand, a gentle repetitive rhythm. He raised a brow at the response before turning to look at Kayde with a smirk.

"So you have someone to settle with. Or at least someone in mind." He barbed with a pleased smirk, enjoying the teasing. Yet he let the conversation turn as he nodded at the follow up question.

"Yeah, she's my twin. We have been traveling since we've been able, always been a bit of a wandering family." It was natural for them to travel, just as much as their parents had wandered.

"But I don't think we'll settle in the mountains, I quite like the warmer places we've wandered to."

Kayde 6

The scythe stuttered during a swing, missing the next stalk to chop as the hybrid continued his teasing. "I....Yes. I suppose that is true." Which it was. He couldn't deny it. That was his only goal in life currently. He hadn't really been thinking all that much beyond it. Only indulging a tiny bit, enough to continue his planning for his future life. "It's not like I haven't known her for a while." Kayde took a more practiced swing with the scythe, chopping down the plant in front of him with ease once more. "Although, if you keep teasing me," he added with a good-natured smile and chuckle, "I fear I may slice someone's leg."

He was glad for a chance of topic as he concentrated once more on the task. "I've never spent long in colder places. I've always felt better in warmer climates, but that might be because I was raised in Oba." Which maybe wasn't as odd now as it might have been not too long ago. Everyone was leaving their comfort zones to go see how their neighbors were living. A Leaf in Oba wasn't a strange thing nowadays. He turned slightly with a little smirk of his own, settling the blade of the tool down on the ground safely. "So no settling down for you anytime soon, is what you're saying?"

[ Liio 7 ]

Their work was slowing down, which Liio was thankful for because this was not the type of work he was familiar with. Wiping his brow, he took a moment to appreciate the experience and the help.

"Not for a long while, I expect." He said with a good-natured grin, before looking about around them, "Tell me, my new found friend...what exactly are we suppose to do now with all of this...harvest?"

The question came out as a laugh, and Liio knew they had a little work left as they needed to get it all back, "Guess we still have some more to do." Which meant, more friendly conversation to keep the day moving. Overall, not a bad day at all.

Kayde 7

Placing the tool against the side of his leg, Kayde reached up to stretch his arms above his head, giving a contented groan as his muscles were pulled tight. He was getting a bit more used to the physical labor that came from all the odd jobs he was doing. But never enough that he didn't quickly crave a bed after the work began.

"Have fun while you're young, I suppose our elders would say," he chuckled, letting his arms drop and looking around them at all the work they had done. "I guess bundle them up and put them in a cart? I don't recall them giving us a lot of instructions." He looked back where they had come, so far away. There was likely a cart back there that they had been meant to take with them as they worked. The Leaf sighed. "This might be a longer one than we both expected."
