It was a rare day for Bane to travel up to the surface lands, but here she was near the beach. Her parents wanted her to meet with Pello's family and arrange for additional goods on their next trip, and thankfully it was an easy process leaving the dark girl a chance to relax before diving back in. In fact, the Hapuna were quite valuable in the goods they sold, as they had access to the Earthling and Aishan goods as they made way to Kahikina.
And so, Bane took the time to identify some goods while she had a moment, happy to shop around and do some trading before she headed back home.

She was near the beach when she heard a shout, and glanced out to see a group of people shouting toward the water. Curious, she darted over to try and figure out what was going on, the earthlings stressed as they looked further away from the beach.

Bane was used to the tides of the lands, but many of the visiting earthlings were overconfident with their actions. They thought this was the calmer waters of their own island, but Kahikina was saturated and only those who were familiar with the waters would easily move through them. So, she was not surprised to see someone struggling, though found herself worried when they struggled longer than normal.
By the time she waded closer, she noticed a few earthlings attempting to get in, and let out a shout.
"Fools! You'll get swept away too." She growled out, before moving sideways with the undertow toward the struggling earthling.

She watched as an earthling began to strip their clothing, ready to jump in, before hearing the shout from the water. A dark form was swimming toward the struggling Earthling, and Amarone used that moment to intercept the hero trying to dive in as well.
"They are right, if you jump in you could get caught too, and then we'll be rescuing two people."
The person was desperate and shoved at the petite Windling, but Amarone held firm, "Let the Kahikinan do what they do best."

She was used to the strong currents, so it was easy to break through and get to the struggling earthling. As they were pulled, she looked over to see if any else came in before dragging them to the side back from where she came. She worked to keep their head above the water, once again wondering how such creatures survived in this world.

Everyone was watching with baited breath, before a cheer broke out in the small crowd. Amarone joined them, excited as well at the sight of the earthling being rescued by the kahikinan. She joined the group as they moved toward the waters, waiting for the group to arrive so they could drag the person the final few feet.

As she moved toward the crowd at the shore, Bane quickly set the earthling down and let the group converge. She lingered back, keeping out of sight as she wasn't too interested in congratulations. A particularly weepy earthling caused her to quickly move further away, forgotten as they made sure their friend was alright.

She too moved away from the crowd, clasping her hands together as she watched the scene. Everyone was alright, and it was quite the rescue. Seeing Bane move away, she moved a little closer and smiled up toward the woman.
"That was awesome!" She cheered, "I'm still so surprised at how well the Kahikinans swim..."
She didn't dare finish the sentence with what she was thinking. Even Amarone knew to not cross that line so soon.

Being a huntress, she was used to noticing things sneaking up on her. So Amarone was not anything of a surprise, though she had hoped her dark demeanor might discourage such approaches. No such luck.
She glanced down toward the earthling and let out a low grunt. Maybe agreement, maybe not.

Even after all her travels with Niabi, Amarone was still socially oblivious to the signs of someone wanting to exit a conversation. She continued to watch the scene in front of them, shifting her weight a few moments before gasping excitedly.
"You know, I haven't seen such coloring or markings before, are you from deeper in the sea?"

Bane almost jumped at the gasp from the girl beside her, eyeing her from the side before letting out a slow sigh.
"Yes, I'm from the deep sea. I don't normally come up here.

She wanted to ask so many questions, but the last statement is what got her attention, "Gosh, we must be really lucky then that today of all days you were here to help."
The smile on her face was friendly, and she tilted her head to the side as she examined the other girl, "You are a bit of a hero, huh?"

And that was her cue to leave.
"Nope." She said quickly, turning on her heel and walking toward the waters. She easily dove in when it was deep enough, getting under the waves and out of sight. She would not be hailed at the Earthling hero, no way. That was not her legacy.
If only she realized such an exit would only strengthen their resolve to whisper about her actions.

As Bane made a quick exit, Amarone watched her leave with wide eyes. And then a shrug. And then a sudden thought to go find Niabi. Surely Niabi would love to hear the story of how the dark Kahikinan emerged from the water to save the day.
Smiling and humming, the girl began to walk away, already excited for her next big adventure.
