Branna was not as fond of the harvest season. While everyone else was happy to help the villagers with plucking apples from trees to make tonight's cider for the festivities, Branna much preferred the idea of staying behind to play with his lyre. It wasn't the same as the harp he had back at his aunt's manor in Zena, but it sufficed for whenever he was on the road with his family. It had been the perfect week for a trip through Sauti to visit local villages and see what crops they had for the harvest season, something that he supposed was interesting enough with all the festivals and special markets that were set up specifically for this part of the season, but Branna truly hated getting his hands dirty like this. "I hope that's some amazing cider." He mused quietly as he held up the knapsack, pondering exactly how many apples he could fit inside before getting to sneak back away to the inn room they were currently renting for the next couple of days.

Gosh the sun felt hot today! As willing as she was to contribute, she just wasn't willing in this heat. Once she felt no one was looking, she clambered up into one of the apple trees to perch on a limb where two heavy branches crossed into a bench-like position. There, she was contently chowing down on her second apple of the day. Her basket sat on the ground at the base of the tree, only half full of the expected gathering. It wasn't like the apples were going anywhere! She could pick them later.

Branna had filled a basket when he looked up and noticed a pair of boots peeking out from one of the trees. Even if the person sitting up there was tucked away, Branna could already guess who was up there. "If you're going to skip on apple picking, Teagan, you should at least invite your brother." He called out while looking up, his gaze studying the tree thoughtfully before floating back up towards his sibling. Was it worth climbing all the way up there? That was definitely one way to get his hands dirtied and potentially scratched up. Branna made a face at the very thought, as a musician his hands were too important for him to risk. "What a way to take a break..."

It was quite cozy in the shade of the branches, a light breeze sifting through to rustle the leaves and brush along her skin. So peaceful and- oh. Teagan was already wrinkling her nose at the approaching steps, bracing herself for a scolding from her father or maybe the farmhands. Ah! It was just Branna. "You ain't climbed a tree since we were six," she declared with a shrug. "Figured you'd rather finish picking and be on your way." With a glance to the branch she was on, she smirked and patted the empty space at her side. "There's room up here for you if you want though." She reached her free hand down toward Branna and wiggling her fingers in a playfully menacing invitation. "Join meeeee~"

"For good reason." Quipped back Branna with a frown. They had both nearly fallen from a rotten branch once and his body had been sore for days! Now that his hands were super important to him, the boy was even more cautious about risks like that. He glanced at the basket of apples on his arm, the one that was already laying on the ground and the apple that Teagan was snacking on. What a slacker. He chastised with a a shake of his head. "What would I do after jumping up there? Can't have apple pie or cider if there's no apples."
And yet he reached for the hand, a playful grin crossing his lips as he jumped and forced Teagan to pull him up into the branch or risk both of them tumbling towards the ground. Thankfully it wasn't that far down either way, since Branna refused to risk either of them for something like simple mischief.

Teagan was surprised when Branna jumped to her hand and laughed as she hoisted him up to her side. As much of a softie as he was, her twin really was the best. "That's what everyone else is for." She reached above her to pluck a fresh apple that remained within reach and held it out to Branna. "We ain't the only ones picking, ya know. They won't care if we take a break so long as we bring in our baskets full at some point."

A smirk lingered on Branna's lips as he settled into position next to Teagan, the tree supporting his back as he lounged on the branch. He would definitely be covered in some leaves, potentially sap and maybe a stray twig or two, but at least for the moment he was comfortable as could be all things considered. "I suppose. Would be a shame if everyone took a break at the same time." He mused teasingly though even he understood there were quite a few overachievers wandering the orchard who would pick plenty of apples, if not too many.
"Once the festivities begin...what do you plan to do?" His deep azure gaze flickered over towards his sister, the teen curious about whatever ideas she may have. "I hear they're doing pumpkin carving and even a maze in the cornfield before they take down the rest of the crops." Branna wasn't too easily scared, but it was amusing to see others and how they could react to the fall festivities. The story tellers also enjoyed spinning tales around the evening bonfires, the local villagers jumpy for hours after each and every spine chilling story concluded.

Teagan snorted lightly. "Ain't that likely that everyone gonna take breaks at the same time. That'd be pretty crazy. If that happens, I promise I'll get back ta work." She took a bite of her apple and sighed contently. This was nice~ Plans? "The maze sounds kinda fun. Supposed ta be some sorta prizes at the end for the first few that get through." She hummed softly with contemplation. "Oh! The dessert contest. They're pickin' taste testers an' I'm gonna try for it." She smirked and shrugged with amusement. "Maybe I can't cook worth a damn, but I know how ta eat."

If only there was like an official whistle or something for breaks. Branna smirked at the thought. What if he could mimic such a noise in that situation and everyone did take a break at the same time? He truly wanted to see if Teagan would actually follow through with her statement. But unfortunately he didn't know of such a thing so he simply picked out an apple to try a bite. He could always gather more on the way back, his basket at least was halfway full already. The crisp fruit had a bite to it, a bit more tart than the sweeter versions he normally preferred but it was still refreshing and better than nothing. Branna took another bite before carefully wiping at his chin, making certain no juice lingered there before glancing over at Teagan again.
"Hmm...it sounds challenging. You would have to probably use some wit to get through the maze, not simply charge through the walls they put up." He teased lightly before nodding at the second part, a laugh escaping his lips. "Fair enough. I wish you the best of luck with that. Personally, I would rather walk than be rolled away once the festivities are finished." One apple would be enough for now, at least until they brought out the cider. It was a bit chilly and something warm would be much appreciated by Branna, especially since he could keep his hands toasty by holding onto the steaming mug. "Though I suppose you could dance all of those sweets off if you're wanting to participate in the dancing later...I'm more looking forward to the bonfire and story-telling though."

Teagan glared playfully. "'ey, 'ey, 'ey. I got plenty of wit, thank ya much." She raised her chin and took another pointed bite of her apple. In contrast to her brother, she wiped haphazardly at the dribble of juice along her chin. "Wager I'll get through it fastest on just skill!" Never mind that she had no sense of direction despite her bloodline.... She laughed and shook her head. "Nah, get me in a wagon an' roll me out with a full belly at the end of the night! I'll leave the dancin' to you fancy folks." Her eyes gave Branna a side look and a softer smile. "You gonna perform anything? Practice playing in front of others?"

A mischievous glint entered Branna's azure gaze. "Oh? Sounds like a challenge to me." He dared with a raised brow towards Teagan. "There's time before desserts to try out the maze, even if we don't win a prize we can always see which of us manages to escape first. Don't worry, I'll come find you when I'm out so that you won't miss the samples." He added the last bit with a smirk, the teen taking a final bite of his own apple before casually tossing it away so that some animal could finish it later.
His confident look though became one of hesitation at Teagan's sudden question. "Eh, I think I'll leave it to the other musicians today. I only have my travel flute with me for this trip. The rest is back in Zena." Perhaps it was an excuse, but still Branna wasn't quite confident that he wanted to give a full performance to a group of locals. "It would wear me out anyway and then I couldn't roll you towards home." He added with a soft laugh, the teen glancing over his twin playfully.

Teagan's smirk mirrored Branna's gaze. So he'd noticed! "I want us ta be one of the first ones in. I figure I'll be waitin' a while for ya at the end an' I ain't missing those desserts." She chuckled around a final bite and tossed the core the opposite way. Pleased with the snack and the rest, she stretched her arms up over her head with a sigh. The denial earned a chuckle from her. "Eh, true. Would hate for ya ta intimidate everyone else with your flutin' skills." Ah, speaking of rolling, she could hear the squeak of a wagon being pulled nearby. Someone was bringing a cart around to collect the baskets! She nudged Branna and climbed to her feet to reach out for more apples to collect. "You better be sure ta find a good, sturdy wheel barrow for me," she insisted as she reached to the branches above.

"Pfft. We'll see about that." Branna replied his smirk only growing more as his twin rose to the challenge. "Maybe I'll just have to fill in and let you know how they taste."
He could only shake his head, slightly bashful now that he had received some indirect praise even if it was in the form of teasing, and Branna simply moved to start gathering more apples. "I'll find the sturdiest one I can." He stated before moving to slip down from the branches, grabbing apples along the way to finish filling his own basket. "But first we should get to that maze. Don't wanna miss desserts after all." Branna teased with a grin towards his twin, the teen already moving towards the path leading to the festivities now that his feet had touched the ground.

Teagan let out a dramatic gasp and hurried to grab as many apples as she could reach. "Nu-uh! You get your own tastin' spot!" She clambered down in a surprisingly nimble fashion considering she had one arm holding a bunch of apples. She dropped them into the basket and scooped it up. It wasn't exactly full... "Come on. I can top it off on the way ta the wagon." As she spoke, she reached up as she passed the next tree and plucked down one of the apples within reach from the ground. She was going to win that maze, for sure!
