Books are the quietest and most constant of friends;
they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

Welcome to Books and Blood, a quite little retreat where the more civilized of the vampires can gather away from all most of the politics of the vampire society. This is a place where the quieter, more reclusive vampires can gather to bond over something that they tend to hold near to their cold, undead hearts. Books. There is a small library on site, however, it is up to each clan on if they generous enough to bring and share their more rare tombs and texts. Some meetings will be specifically about sharing historical texts and knowledge. Some may be just to catch up on the latest reading material. Some may be opportunities to just be around other vampires without the pressure of actual socialization.

While those who frequent the establishment find themselves more civilized than some of the more boisterous or naturally violent of the clans, it is still important to respect the rules of the club, which are as follows:

- Take your fights outside. This is to prevent damage to the books. Some of these texts may be older than your clans. -
- Do your best to leave your politics at the door. We have history here. A lot of it. Save it for the clan meetings. This is not the place. -
- Be willing to share knowledge. If you are found to be attending book club only to gain knowledge that the other clans are being generous enough to share, and offering nothing in exchange, you may find yourself subject to rule number one, and you will be barred from book club. -

- No Giovanni. Ashur will not abide by rule number one. -

Now, that the rules are out of the way, let's discuss the refreshments. Please be advised that there are often mortals attending the club to help ease tensions. A satiated vampire is much less likely to start a fight. Besides, can't think straight on an empty stomach. These mortals are either voluntarily here, and know a limited amount of the vampires that partake here, or they have been compelled to forget what happens within the doors of the club. Do. Not. Abuse. Them. This will also result in possible banning from book club.

Do not forget that just because these Kindred are more civilized, they are still powerful. It is important to respect the elders, even if they are not from your own clan. Disrespect is rarely tolerated, especially by the leaders of the clans.

Now that we have all the fine print out of the way [and truly, you should mind the fine print], Books and Blood is open for it's first gathering!

- Anita walks and sits down at table . She opens few of journals she found recently in tomb. Her own little hidden story of her. Things she had forgotten over her long unlike. Things that she must remember and relearn after her long sleep. She didn't want to disappoint Ashur again nor did she want to forget about her studies of death. She was after all a historian of death and was always willing to better herself.-

User ImageBennett sat in a corner, a stack of books surrounding her. Much to her chagrin, Ashur had been keeping her busy. She wasn't sure if he knew about her budding relationship with Faustus or not, but it certainly seemed as though between The Cemetery and now the club, he was constantly giving her things to work out. Her paws flicked through the book in front of her idly, not really reading it, but giving off the appearance to anyone who may walk in. Two toned eyes flickered up as Anita walked in and settled down. The young vampire's lips found to keep a grimace from forming. Truly, she was not a fan of her father's, but for now, she played the role well enough. But when it came to Anita, she was less apt to hide her disdain. The Antediluvian seemed even more stuck in the old ways than Ashur, and she was a coward. She had gone to the Giovanni in Ashur's absence, she had whimpered at Ashur's feet like a petulant child afraid of the dark.

Still, father said play nice, so play nice Benny would. Soon the times would change. Nestling further into her seat, she flicked a few pages, perhaps just a little louder than necessary, before pulling her eyes from the Cappadocian and actually back to the text on the page. She wasn't even sure what the latest homework Ashur had assigned her was, perhaps it was actually worth looking at. As she scanned through the texts, she couldn't hide the scoff. No. Nothing interesting, just more of the same. Death this; death that; necromancy rituals...why can't father at least give me anything new to look at... She mused before shutting the book. Then again, these were the books she was supposed to be reviewing to be sure nothing was too sensitive to be left at the club. If he cared so much, why didn't he just bother doing it himself?

- Anita looks up to spot Bennett. She smell like a mutt or was that a scent that seemed to cing to young vamp.. Anita wondered what Ashur would think of his child. Hanging out with Gangel mutt. No she sniffed again someone with Gengel blood how interesting. Anita had better things to do. She would remember things and become what she once was a strong independent female that was capable to lead and hold her seat. She lost her fear the longer she was awake. She didn't need prove herself to anyone. She didn't need anyone and she would use her studies. Her power and mind to remember and reclaim what she had lost. She would be curious and a weapon and rebuild the clan. Anita closes her journal. Ashur never taught her much and she was necromancer and decoding her journals was the key.

She might have seemed weak after her long sleep but not anymore. She hoped to speak with others and gain more knowledge. But as for Ashur.. who needed him-

Vincent stepped in silently, a stirring and sharing of knowledge called to him and interested the otherwise secluded ancient of the Nagaraja. Although he and his followers were not of the Cappadocian, the invitation had not been specific and he had allowed himself this opportunity to walk amongst others. It also tickled him that he may be able to speak of knowledge long since cast aside by the other clans in an effort to attempt to rejoin the vampire society again. He looked over at the two who were here, doll like in their appearance and beautiful compared to his own skulking and macabre form. They were also reading among the stacks of books, one thing they shared in common at least.

As he walked through the collection of books, he felt a stirring in his memories, bringing him back to days long since passed when his knowledge and ever insatiable thirst for it had changed his very being. Necromantic rites and rituals were ingrained into him but the rites he practiced were a perversion of the ones he now sat and read from the dust coated times that lined the shelves. He would not be the first to converse, that would too presumptuous of him. He and his clan had been loners and feared by some due to their differences over the years. If approached though, he would make an attempt at socializing.

Bennet's eyes flickered up as the door opened. Most businesses had some sort of bell or chime, alerting others to a new presence, however, they had found that it simply wasn't necessary here. Everyone's hearing was quite good here. Well, besides the mortals, but who really worried about the mortals? A soft sniff to the air as well confirmed what the younger vampire thought. This was not a familiar Fae. She knew that she didn't recognize him from appearance, but the scene was also unfamiliar. Her two toned eyes studied him over the stack of books, trying to figure out who he was, but there was nothing coming to mind. He certainly looked a more...feral that the other vampires she had met. Those teeth were certainly something else. How did he blend in?

Bennett glanced to her stack of books, tidying up the stack she had already approved to stay, and tucking the ones she had to review still behind the counter before sauntering over to Vincent. Odd types had never bothered her. One only had to see her rather eccentric mate to know that.

"Hello there. Welcome. I don't think I've seen you before..." Her voice was high, delicate, but not without authority. As the daughter of a Disciple, she couldn't help but have some air of supremacy about her. "I'm Bennett. I'm here fairly often, usually doing work for my father's clan. And you are?

Vincent looked down towards the smaller vampire, she had an air of authority and importance to her as she spoke. It took some time to think of the best way to approach an answer, given that his usual company wasn’t of the talking sort. Turning slightly and closing his book, he nodded a sort of acknowledgment of her before speaking. “Ah yes, I am Vincent and one who resides at the head of my own gathering of sorts. I feel in some ways it would be strange to call it a clan but that’s another matter. I would like to compliment this collection of knowledge that is being maintained here.”

A creeping scent of rot wafted out from his lips as he spoke, reminiscent of his most recent meal. Although older than the one who stood before him, he didn’t feel the same authority that one presumably felt in other clans. It was his job to work the spells and rituals to bring those to his small group and not an embracing as the normal sense of the manner. He nodded to himself before speaking once more. “Is your father of Cappadocian? I had wondered given the notice of an absence of Giovanni. My apologies for what may have happened in the past and I hope he is well.”

- Rosemarie looks around at all the books. This plac3 was truly amazing all the books and knowledge that was around her and it was truly her hearts desire. Her mothers clan studied magic. She was not really into it. She did however enjoy books. She smiles and stares at the other vampires before walking to the nearest shelf and looking at the title.-

A small laugh fell from her lips at his comment about the lack of Giovanni. It was such an old grudge, but Bennett found that the older vampires held onto their ways and their grudges for an exceptionally long time. Vincent was certainly perceptive, much more so than Bennett expected from someone who looked as he did. Word of her father's presence had been circulating; he would have to come out of hiding soon. The new world would require it. She found herself fussing with her rosaries as she settled herself at the table with Vincent.

"Ah, yes. I am of Cappadocian blood. Though, I don't particularly call the clan home." Cocking her head to the side as the scent of rot crossed her nose. She had read about those of their kind that consumed their meals...flesh and all. Could Vincent be one of those? They were said to be created by mistake...magic gone wrong. But still, they devoted themselves to learning the rituals. So civilized despite their affliction. "As for the books, some are from Cappadocian library. Others have been entrusted to us from other clans and collections. I'm glad you can find enjoyment in them.

Finally, she arranged herself contentedly in the arm chair. Many of the furnishings had been of Bennett's picking. The elder vampires had less concern over the chairs and tables than they did the books. The younger felt that there was no need to sacrifice comfort and style for knowledge.

"Was there something you were looking for in particular? Or were you just visiting by happenstance?"

Something was spoken as if a breeze was whispering interesting thoughts. A certain Kiasyd Elder momentarily left the serenity of her library seeking out the whispers of truth. As she stood before this door her large alien-like eyes widened seeing all the books lining shelves as they were displayed throughout the store. Pushing upon the door she turned the knob gliding inward seeking more knowledge. Quickly she began browsing as the lighted room flickered off her large orbs that seemed endless like an abyss. As a book she's never read touched upon her pale fingertips she felt a shiver of excitement envelops her with excitement. Finding a suitable area she called a sanctuary, Lydia moved to seat herself as fingers white as snow opened the cover revealing the knowledge of the first page.

"Finally" she spoke softly as her breath exhaled in accomplishment, "I've found you".
