The Noises (9) : There’s a noise somewhere around you and you don’t know where it’s coming from, or what it is. Maybe it’s the sound of something otherwise normal–glasses clinking, someone walking, a clock chiming–except, it doesn’t belong there. It’s a common noise, it just has no source. Or, maybe it’s something scarier–a whisper, a scratch, and wail. The noises come and go without any apparent source. It’s constant. For minutes, or hours, or days. And then, it stops, with no explanation, and that’s almost as scary as when it started.

Dant (or Ausar, as he still called himself) was residing at his friend's apartment until he was ready to live on his own on Earth. He at this time was listening to a famous Earth audiobook (awesome things, they were recorded and read to you, although he preferred to read - but had yet to learn Earth Writing, and somehow had lost the ability to read Sekhmite or Ra'ite writing) called Oliver Twist and it was interesting.
And then one of the characters (seemingly so) whispered in the background, "Ausar..." He jumped just a bit startled. Then he reversed the recording just enough to play that part once more... nothing... no whisper at least.
He shook it off and went back to listening. He was listening about how the lady was saying that Oliver had not known love and would therefore do evil (interesting concept) when suddenly more whispers came; "Ausar, why?" Dant grew very agitated this time. He checked again. Nothing. He sighed and put the audiobook away.
He turned out the lights in the living room and lay down on the couch. Maybe some rest would do him some good. As always, his dreams were about what he could remember of the past. There were still a lot of blanks, but his mind made do with what he had.
His adopted family the court swam in and out of his dreams, as did his Tailor Master from his Apprenticeship - he always wondered what happened to her. Then there was the love of his life - how could he forget her name? And the final Pharaoh, who had come to respect, even care for him. Time, pure time had rotted his mind like that rotten, stinking cabbage that had taken everything from him.
"Ausar, why have you abandoned and forsaken us?" "Nooo!" He screamed in his nightmare! He tried to pull them all from the cabbage but failed. Tear streamed down his face. The people of Pasithee called to him. The people of Leaena called to him. All the Peoples he was supposed to protect after the Destruction of Etamin and the Collaspe of the Silver Millennium called to him. The people of Etamin cried out as well. As did his own world.
"Ausar, why have you destroyed us?" "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" He screamed again, and fell off the couch and awakened. He sat there, breathing hard and staring at nothing for a momemt at nothing in horror.
Had he destroyed them all? Had he really? He sighed. Did Hapii, rather did Drew have to go through this? Could any of his new friends understand? He fidgeted with his Earth Phone. Should he call any of them? He struggled to get up, and just tripped in the blankets and fell again. Why did it have to be so cold here? On Sekhmet, they only needed one light blanket - if that. There he was thinking about home again. As he knelt, he decided to call. He called both of those who he resided with and his friend Drew.
