She should have known not to pick up the strange, lovely little die, but at the same time, Wavellite did enjoy pushing herself. But, this wasn't something that should have been just lying on the ground...and she should have known better but.
The Captain picked it up...and when reality decided to shift, all she could do was sigh, resigned to have to endure whatever was in store for her.
...it was go time, she supposed.

Quote: Space 5: A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds. Dogs weren't something that Wavellite feared...but then again there wasn't much that she feared but...there was something frightening about the sound of this one. Like it wanted to be horrible. Like it wanted to rip her to shreds, and would relish the chance to get its large, unforgiving jaws around her throat.
Shuddering, Wavellite took a step, but found that she was stuck on this stupid block...and the dog was getting closer...and...
Oh. Giving a small whimper, and feeling very glad that she was alone here, she rolled the die, hoping that she would get away before it got her.

Quote: Space 7: Something is twitching and flapping above you, and while you might be minding your own business, something is a little too invested in what you’re doing. You can’t see them, but you suddenly hear shrill, high pierced noises that are disorienting and confusing. They can bring about dizziness and pain and can cause vertigo if you’re stuck in them for too long. Finally, the dogs were gone, Wavellite could no longer hear them, and she felt her heart going back to a relatively normal rhythm...what a stupid, silly thing to be afraid of...there was nothing scary about dogs. Nothing at all, especially when she was powered. How hard would it be to defend herself from a dog with her sword?
Again...not hard at all, though the idea of a shish kabobbed dog wasn't...well. Wasn't something that she wanted to dwell on...it was nice to know, nice to remember that she wasn't without defenses. Very good defenses.
So far immersed in her own thoughts, Wavellite didn't hear the strange flapping until the first shriek broke through her thoughts, and that was enough to have her almost falling to her knees, clamping her hands over her ears to block out what she could.
...In doing so, the die rolled once again.

Quote: Space 11: You hear a frantic flapping above you, but that’s all the warning you get before a hoard of bats descend. They scratch and slap and screech, but you avoid getting bitten. For now. You’ve invaded their space and they seem keen to defend it. You can try to fight them, but the only way to escape them is to roll again. It didn't seem like her last roll had done much...the flapping above her head was going even stronger here, and with another shriek, the bats came down this time. Wavellite huffed and threw the die with more effort than was required, but she didn't want to get bitten or have any unfriendly bats in her face for longer than was necessary.

Quote: Space 13: At first, the square is quiet. Nothing seems amiss. It’s unnerving in how safe it seems. But then, it only takes a few seconds before you understand why. It’s just taken a moment for them to get to you. The patter of tiny feet is rapidly approaching. There’s no light to see them, but there’s a reflection in their beady eyes. Rats. Thousands of them. Chittering, frothing in the mouth. These are strangely grotesque, mutated abominations. They’re running at you like they haven’t got a fear in the world–only, hungry. And rage. If they get to you, they’ll eat you alive. The ground is trembling with their weight. You’d better roll quickly if you don’t wind up a meal. Wavellite relaxed in the quiet serenity of the next square, pleased that she had found a spot that was nothing but a reprieve. She deserved this after that dog and the bats...
Truthfully, she was ready to sit down and just get her breath back, to plan how she was going to get out of this twisted game with her sanity and all of her limbs...but...
As she was moving to sit, she heard something...felt something...
And when the horde of rats came into view, Wavellite felt herself sway where she stood. This...
Oh s**t.
This was Hell. That was the only explanation this was Hell. Quickly, she rolled the die once more, hoping that if she rolled high enough...she might get out of here.

Quote: Space 17: Something howls in the distance. It’s loud and echoes with such ferocity it seems to shake you. On the other side of you–another howl. Closer. This one is loud enough to hurt your ears. The ground trembles with the force of something charging at you. A growl, a snarl. Yellow eyes staring you down. There’s not just one monster out there–there’s several, and they’re all coming for you. Dog.
...The dog...wolf? Whatever it was, the fear that welled up inside of Wavellite's chest brought tears to her eyes, and a wave of pure anger at the fact that she was crying because of something so...so stupid.
Her hands shook as she struggled to roll the die once more, hoping that this time would be it...that she would get out.

Quote: Space 20: The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best. Thankfully, the roll had been enough, and Wavellite stood, staring at the shimmering gateway...whatever with misty eyes that she hated.
Walking through it, she didn't bother looking back, and when she saw that she still had the stupid die with her that had started it all? She dropped it to the ground and summoned her sword to her hand, placing the point of it on the opalescent cube and pressed down until it split into a dozen small pieces.
Good riddence.
Now this? This she would never talk about to anyone. Ever. It never happened.
