The Pumpkin Thief (8 ) : Every now and then, a few pumpkins will disappear from a local pumpkin patch. It’s probably just some teenagers playing pranks, or some wild animals, or–oh, this is Destiny City. Of course there are rumors that it might actually be some furry, moss covered behemoth from the forest. And, there’s credence to that rumor, because maybe you’ve seen it, too. It’s a strange creature that keeps its distance. It almost looks like it might be a skinny, malformed bear but there’s something just off about it. Sometimes, it just steals pumpkins and you find their carcasses strewn about not far off. Sometimes, it throws the pumpkins–at people, at places. Sometimes, it carves out a hideous face and wears the pumpkin like a mask. It cannot be caught, and it will always run off into the wood if engaged. Sometimes, you can hear a strange, ghoulish bellow as it disappears into the forest.
It was a day that Dresda was scheduled to have a patrol with Bellite, but both Emily and Fawn were down with a nasty bout of flu, so Wavellite had offered to go instead. Hopefully Dresda wouldn’t be too freaked out by a new person patrolling with him…or, as she was planning on…sparring with him. Honestly, the Captain felt as though she were getting rusty, and it would be good to try her sword against a corrupted senshi that wasn’t her girlfriend…though.
She would always be more gentle on Xenia, that was for sure.
There was a small pile of smashed pumpkins near where she was waiting for Dresda to show up, and without really thinking about it, Wavellite summoned her sword and began poking the orange goop that covered the smashed orbs.
Gross.
…Pumpkin seeds sounded really good though, maybe she’d go and buy some later.
When she felt the aura of a corrupted senshi come into her sensing range, she stood up and flicked some pumpkin guts off of the tip of her sword. “Dresda? I know you were expecting Bellite, but she’s down sick with the flu right now, I’m Wavellite, I’m sure she’s told you about me, but she asked me to help you with patrol today, if that’s okay?”

A couple of weeks ago, Dresda was cursing all the layers of his uniform. Today, he was grateful for the extra warmed it provided against the now chillier days. Maybe this outfit had it's perks...
He blinked when a voice called out to him, somewhat surprised. Wavellite... Bell had mentioned her once or twice. "Ah... You're... What was it... Xenia's girlfriend, correct? It's nice to meet you." He said, offering a hand. The flu huh? Yeeesh... It seemed a little early in the season for that, but given the sudden temperature shift, he also wasn't surprised at all. He just hoped they made a speedy recovery. "You'll have to let me know if there's anything I can do to help them. I can take care of some errands for you or them, if need be."
"Are we going anywhere particular today or should we just... start here and see where things take us??"

Wavellite grinned. Good. At least he wasn’t unhappy with the change, and he obviously knew who she was, that was good. She could work with that, at least.
“That’s right! To tell the truth, I’m kind of thining about planning to propose, but you didn’t hear that from me, got it? Anyway, for tonight…look, I’m gonna be honest. The only corrupt that I’ve ever sparred with is Xenia, so if you wouldn’t mind, I’d love to see what you can do. I’ve been a little lazy lately but…now that I get to hang out with someone new, maybe you’ll spur me to making General myself, who knows.”
Holding up her sword, she paused and flicked one last strand of pumpkin off of it before sliding into a somewhat appropriate stance for a fencer. “What do you say? Sounds more fun than a boring patrol, right?”

Dresda blinked slowly. "....I don't... know much about planning a wedding but your secret is safe with me." He hadn't met Xenia yet, so Wave didn't have to worry about him spilling any secrets.
Not that he would.
He stared at the Captain a moment longer. "You know.... Bell said the same thing. Pretty sure I left her somewhat regretting that choice..." Not that Dresda expected her to admit it. Dresda watched as the bit of pumpkin went flying before turning back to the Captain. "Were... you just carving up pumpkins while waiting for me???" Huh... He would have never thought of that, were he to have a weapon over his magic.
"We can give it a try... I'm not the best with it but.." Any practice was better then no practice, he supposed.

Wavellite’s eyes gleamed and she tilted her head, curious now. “Did you really? Well, if that’s the case, now I really want to see what it is. Xenia, she can create a pretty useful shield for herself or others, which is nice, neat, too but…I’d love to see someone with offensive magic, and if that’s what you have…”
She grinned and shifted so that her sword was in front of her, looking a little feral for a moment. “Come on. Show me what you can do, Dresda. Show me that you’re worthy to be with us, on our team..in our family. Bellite is like a mom to me too, you know so. I’m a bit protective of her and my Xenia, so. Show me what you can do.”
And without giving any more warning than that, she moved towards him, thrusting the sword towards him as she did so.

Dresda rubbed at his neck awkwardly. "I'm not actually sure what it is my magic does... I've never used it on myself to find out. I just know that Bell looked really pale and spooked after I did it. Said that it was potent and that it would protect me." Bell's words still rung in his ears, despite that it had been a couple months ago.
The Senshi flinched when she shifted her stance, swinging her sword his way. "Whoa whoa wait. I'm not here to steal them from you." He said, waving his hands in front of him for a moment. Then she lunged, and Dresda yelped. "Lycoris Fear Bloom!" He said in a panic, pointing at Wave.
Sailor Scout Attack: Lycoris Fear Bloom Saying the name of his attack, Dresda points at a single opponent. At the opponent's feet, a ring of bright blood red Lycoris spring up. The Lycoris then emmit a pollen, that then make the person hellucinate a grim scene. Wheither the scene involves themeself or someone they know is only known to the player under the effects of flower. Dresda can do this attack three times per fight and the attack itself lasts 20 seconds. However, if the effected player should some how be removed from the ring (pulled, knocked over etc) the effects instantly wear off.

Now, if she were being fair, Wavellite hadn’t meant to scare Dresda, but she was going to at least act like it mattered if he could keep up with them or not…because it did. This was Bellite’s first real recruit and she had to look good, because if she didn’t look good…it would reflect badly on all of them, and even if Wavellite was strictly under Ashanite…well…
…Bellite mattered more than he did just because she was literal family. Kind of.
So when the poor thing seemed to just freak out and use his magic on her, she was kind of satisfied, and felt…kind of guilty at the same time. He looked…scared and…well. She didn’t want to be seen as a bully.
As the flowers began to pop up around her, and as the scene in front of her grew grim and gruesome, she blinked and began to smile bright. “s**t, Dresda. This is your magic? That’s ******** awesome.”
He looked like a mess. Like he would have if she had been fully intending to cut him to ribbons. Not that she would but…it was a good visual to have for the next person that she did want to cut to ribbons. “I love it.”

Dresda huffed, trying to calm down. "I get we're on the same side or whatever, but whoever decided that Negaverse Senshi didn't need a weapon to defend themselves, CLEARLY never had anyone with a sword suddenly lunge at them.." The senshi scrubbed at his face. "Not that I uh, think you would run me through without reason. Just uh... fight or flight."
God he felt so dumb right now. That was so embarassing.
He eyed her skeptically for a moment. "You love it.. Bell looked like she was gonna be sick..." Dresda wondered if he was going to get a different direction from every person who experienced it. "Sorry... I kinda panicked. I really need to get use to... all this.." Taking a deep breathe, he looked at the Captain again. "Shall we try again? I promise I won't panic... Well, as much."
"Did it take you long to get use to all this? Like, does feeling 'new' ever go away?"

“I mean, it didn’t really take me long, I’ve been in this for a while now, and I have a…somewhat decent General who pretends to care but, and you better not repeat this, Bellite is fifty times better than he is so, I just act like she’s the boss of me and go on my merry way. But.”
Wavellite decided to take some pity on the poor thing and banished her weapon, holding up her empty hands with a slightly mocking grin. “Sorry, sorry. Yeah, but you guys do have magic, and yours is pretty cool, making everything look all bloody and awful like that, but, grass is always greener as they say, I’d love magic and you’d love a weapon.”
Reaching out, Wavellite put a hand on Dresda’s shoulder and gave it a little squeeze. “You’ll get used to it, I promise. You’re still new, and we’ve got your back, I promise that too. So, how about you and me ditch patrol for the night and go find something fun to do instead. Like…a team bonding exercise or something. Not that I think Bellite would question us, but…”
She shrugged and tugged at his sleeve, pausing for a moment before she allowed her Captain form to fade, leaving Marquette instead. “But it’s always good to have excuses prepared!”
