Of course Jadarite was not jumping in a leaf pile. She wasn't five years old. She hadn't been five years old in over twenty years. That would have just been stupid, a complete waste of time.

It was, however, impractical to completely avoid the leaves.

She was attending to her Negaverse duties, and that meant that she was spending some time in the many parks of Destiny City. At this time of year, of course there was going to be some crunch of dried up greenery under her feet.

The staff, or enthusiastic children, had gotten some of the leaves raked up into piles, but Jada wasn't paying that any mind. When she saw the silhouette of someone walking alone, a potential draining target, she was hardly going to take the time to walk around a few feet of leaves.

Only, it must have been in a hole or something, because her foot caught on something, and suddenly she was falling face first into the pile. It went deeper than she thought, and for a moment she was buried.

She was growling when she emerged, spitting leaves out of her mouth and clawing them out of her hair. She was so busy being annoyed that she didn't even see that she wasn't where she'd started.

The changing seasons were making Celadonite feel rather sleepy. The fact that it was growing colder out meant he needed to do his best to stay warm, and honestly, most of the time that simply meant that he was curled up in the house in Negaspace, laying in a pile of blankets in front of the fireplace…if Faustite wasn’t around. But. most of the time Faustite was around, and…today he had wanted to go out for a while.

Energy wouldn’t collect itself, after all.

He had managed to find enough to last him for a while and was taking the scenic route home through the park, though when he heard a noise, the half youma paused and turned his attention to a leaf pile…and then watched in utter fascination mixed with just a bit of horror as one of his teammates came crawling out of it.

He knew her by sight at least, and though they hadn’t really spoken before…it didn’t stop him from giving a confused little question.

“...Jadarite? Were you…napping in the leaves…?”

Napping? Who thought she'd been napping? How could anyone possibly think that she'd been napping?

Jada's usual restraint was wearing thin. She gave a choked-back noise that was somewhere between frustration and embarrassment as she saw that it was one of her teammates who was talking to her. She gave another, more annoyed one as she had to spit out another leaf, but then she sucked in a breath and started to manage words.

"I was draining, Celadonite," she explained, and she spoke slowly so there could be no confusion. "I tripped." The truth was still less than flattering, but at least it didn't make her look lazy.

"Where did you come from?" she asked after a moment, and it was only then that she started to notice that the trees around her were not the ones she'd been under a few moments ago.

Celadonite frowned and raised his eyebrows in some confusion. “I…didn’t come from anywhere. I’ve been sitting here for about half an hour, but you just kind of…popped out of the leaves…who were you draining? There hasn’t been anyone around here but me. I saw a deer though, that was kind of neat. Didn’t think I’d see one so close to the city, but this park is on the outskirts so…I suppose it makes a little sense.”

He didn’t enjoy the way she was being rather condescending towards him, and honestly thought that it was quite unwarranted. “Did you…teleport into the leaf pile?”

It was the only real explanation of how she had gotten there so quickly…but if she hadn’t thought she had moved…that.

“...Can you teleport if you’re asleep, do you think? Because, Jada hon, you weren’t here a minute ago.”

With that, Jada took a moment to actually look around and see where she was. It was a park, like the place that she'd been a few seconds ago, but that was about where the similarities ended.

She'd started out downtown, in the kind of park that had a small playground, and formal flowerbeds, and where you could see a busy street on the outskirts. This place was much quieter, and much closer to a forest.

She'd never been here before. She couldn't have actively teleported here if she'd wanted to.

Her scowl deepened, but it wasn't directed at Celadonite.

"I suppose I was shifted, somehow? I wasn't trying to," she told him. "It could be outside magic. I've heard things just happen in this city, sometimes."

She didn't like it. She didn't like that this was out of her control.

"I'm sorry," she said, and the words came slowly, but she could manage manners when she needed to, and it was hardly his fault, "If I startled you."

Shaking his head, Celadonite grinned slightly. “No need to apologize. I’m actually kind of glad to get a chance to just talk to you. I’ve never told you how much I appreciate the uniform you’ve been given. You absolutely slay it, and I was hoping if you’d ever be interested that I could design come clothes for you. I’m trying to do everyone on the team, and I have some done but, we’ve never really had a chance to talk so I don’t know much about you.”

He gave a little grin and then paused. “...Make clothes for everyone. Not…whatever. You know what I mean, I hope. If you’re up for it, could we meet for dinner sometime? I can sketch you something up while we eat if you’re into fashion…if not than I’ll just make you a jacket that’s vaguely based on your uniform, that’s always fun too.”

Celadonite looked almost sheepish and gave another grin. “This city is so ******** up, I wouldn’t doubt it, but it was a good place for you to land so, I’m not complaining.”

"This?"

Jada ran her fingers over the edges of her jacket, the frown relaxing away from her features. There wasn't anything quite like being told that you were slaying to get your mind off of being yanked across the city by some magical leaves.

"It's true, whatever magic makes these clothes is good at its job. I quite like the peplum look I got when I upgraded."

It was sophisticated, eye catching without being ostentatious. Most of the agent's uniforms fell into that category. Celadonite's violet coat wasn't bad, either.

Civilian clothes were more complicated, so she sat up straighter at his offer. "You're into fashion? I like that. It's sweet that you want to make things for the team."

Useful for her, as well, since she was always looking for things to wear on her stream.

"Dinner sounds nice, too. We should really get to talk more when I'm not being spit out by piles of leaves."

“Am I in to fashion, Jada, before I decided to give my life to be a half youma, I was an aspiring fashion designer, fashion is…was my absolute life. Though, I do still work on it, but the nails get in the way sometimes. How does Wednesday sound? I’ll meet you at the Italian Restaurant over on the corner of Northbend and River street? Maybe say…six thirty?”

It needed a reservation, but that wouldn’t be an issue. Besides, he was craving some of their stuffed shells something awful.

And a friend date discussing some fashion projects for him sounded like the very best way to enjoy his three hours of being human.

"We could look into getting you some extra strength nail clippers," said Jada, because while she knew that being a half-youma meant giving up some parts of life, enough that she had no desire to take on that existence for herself, she didn't think it had to mean giving up sewing.

"Or, an assistant? I could put an ad on Instagram, I'm sure we could find some bright eyed intern to hire and then we could recruit them?"

It'd be good for the Infiltration side of things to have that, too.

She gave a more serious nod as she said, "But, yes. Dinner sounds good. Wednesday, 6:30."

Oh, she was smart too. Thinking of things that he had completely overlooked. Celadonite’s dark eyes sparkled and he nodded. “Good ideas, all of them. I’ll see you then, Jada. Be safe…” His lips twitched into an almost amused smirk. “...Be careful of leaf piles on your way home.”

With that and one last chuckle, Celadonite teleported himself out of there and back to Negaspace.
