The Spiders (5) :Webs have begun to appear all over Destiny City at an alarming pace; at first it doesn’t seem like anything to be concerned with–maybe a web over a window or door frame is the worst you see, but there have been reports of webs that cover a whole tree or even entire cars. The media cites changing weather patterns and, even though you don’t see any spiders, it’s clear you might have a problem. Once, Destiny City had a bad run in with Giant Spiders. Now, you can’t even see them. Tiny little spiders are either passing through for the season–or they’re back for revenge.
It depends on how superstitious you are.
Either way, these little spiders might be small–almost always tinier than a pea–but they can still leave a bit of damage in their wake. Their legs are tiny and needle-like, and their fangs are even worse. They might show up alone or in a swarm, but they always disappear shortly after attacking. And, these spiders are very aggressive. Being bitten can cause nausea, dizziness, fatigue and hallucinations. These symptoms can begin immediately or can manifest up to a few hours afterwards, but the symptoms always seem to clear up within a day or two. Just be careful not to get bitten again.
Ausar (or Dant as he was known to the Humans) was used to spiders - or at least he had been, before the Chaos had come to his world. Chaos had practically destroyed every living thing except for him on his Homeworld - he had been alone for 500 years. But before that, the spider population in his region was in the thousands. And they were huge. Talking about as tall an adult's waistline. And they were feisty too - kind of like fighting a youma - but they were not youma. Heck, there was even a legalized Spider Patrol whose goal it was to drive spiders from the inhabited lands. He had fought one once. Much different than what he saw now.
There were thick webs covering the town of Destiny City. So thick, they were white. Ausar understood that it was a nightmare of almost every human to wake up in a spider's nest this large - this was also the nightmare of every Sekhmite as well. This was what he was looking at now. Except that these spiders were miniscule - so tiny - could they really be so bad? Apparently, if so, many had gotten very sick from the bites.
He had signed up with a few volunteers that had gathered to eradicate them - he thought it might be a good way to start integrating himself into Earth's society.
And so now, in his human glamour, he was now wearing the best protective gear that the volunteers could afford - thick coats, with what were called coveralls, and used steel-toed boots- that were slightly too big for him, an 'infection mask', and some kind of weird head covering called a leather bandana to protect his head. He didn't know how most of this would be protective, but he supposed it would have to do with magic.
To work with, he had a rather used, heavier 'soil rake' and some pesticide in some kind of hand generator called a 'Spray Bottle' and it attached to a small portable tank.
Suddenly, a swarm of miniscule spiders (seemly having sensed the danger that he and the other represented to them) came flying out of the hidden nest seeking to do battle! He called out to the others, "They are attacking!" Then he wreaked havoc on the spiders, tearing up their nests and webs with the rake in his left hand, and spraying the pesticide with his right hand. The battle was fierce and heavy. There was a terrible odor - which was so great that Ausar seemed to absorb even through his skin - even with all the 'protective gear' on. Webbing fell everywhere.
In minutes, it was over. They were sweeping spiders into a heap and gathering the webbing for destruction on at a later time. "Alright," said Jared, their leader. "Everyone did a good job today. We destroyed most of the enemy. Everyone go home, take a good shower (maybe even two showers), wash your protective on Hot (may even twice) and get yourself some good rest! I want to see everyone back out tomorrow."
