There was a bite to the air that spoke of the change of seasons that Hylonome could appreciate. The unbearable heat of the summer had yielded to cooler nights and moderate heat in the afternoons. It was the perfect weather to be out and about in either form. The task of energy gathering was becoming a little bit easier for the corrupt senshi and she took pride in the little ball of glowing energy that she had managed to gather that evening.

In the light though something on the ground reflected brightly and with a sense of curiosity did the young woman crouch closer to the ground in order to get a sense of what was causing such a glimmer to appear. As her fingers closed over a cube-shaped object did she straighten up to investigate her find more closely. It seemed to be a simple die as she looked it over but then the glimmer returned and the corrupt senshi took a moment to appreciate the delicate work that had gone into the making of such an object. Tossing it up and down into the air a few times gave Hylonome a sense of the density of the die before she found herself being buffeted by the harshest of winds. Darkness descended over her and when things seemed to settle did she notice that she was standing on a platform that matched the construction of the die.

Her gaze narrowed on the object before she swore loudly, "Destiny City, where even dice aren't safe to pick up," was her muttered comment as she stared at the path that seemed to be illuminated beyond. "Guess I roll this thing to progress forward. Geez," and with no other option that seemed open to her did Hylonome prepare herself for whatever would be wrought from the throwing of the die.

[[ Space 0 to Space 04 ]]
Something smells rotten. You can’t see very far into the darkness, but if you squint closely a dark form seems to be dragging itself along the ground. Sometimes you see a pale hand almost close enough to grab you–or, maybe something does grab you. It’s cold, and frightening, and it’s trying to drag you out of bounds.

With a casual flick of her hand the die dropped from it and landed upon the platform on which she waited. Reading out the number that appeared face-up give Hylonome a sense of normalcy as she picked up the die before she traversed the first three squares without skipping a beat. However when she stopped on the fourth square, the one indicated that she needed to stop on, that sense of normalcy flew out the window quicker than she could have imagined. Almost immediately did she slap a hand over her nose in an effort to stop the unholy stench that permeated the square. Was this dimension trying to kill her by overloading her sense of smell? It was even worse than that it seemed. Even as she moved to throw her die again did movement out of the corner of her eye register. The shuffling sound of something dragging itself into the scant light that illuminated the board had Hylonome on high alert. A pale hand appeared from out of the darkness that surrounded her and the young woman shrieked in surprise before feeling the hardest of tugs on her ankle, causing her to stumble forward.

Even as she fell did the die drop from her hand to roll against the platform. Grasping for it the senshi of edelweiss read the next number out loud hoping that by any means necessary she'd be allowed off this square. Kicking out her feet allowed her to free her ankle from whatever had caught a hold of it and she scrambled to her feet before barrelling forward.

[[ Space 04 to Space 05 ]]
A dog barks, fierce and frightening. You can hear its growl and the hackles stand up on the back of your neck. You can practically feel spittle on you. It’s close. And it’s big. And it’s angry. If this beastly dog could reach you, no doubt it would try to tear you to shreds.

There. With the die dropped and showing a new number of spaces that she could traverse Hylonome moved the one space forward and swallowed a sigh of relief. Mainly the relief was from not having to breath in that horrid stench from the previous square. Even as the corrupt senshi stood up straighter and vowed to pause a moment to catch her breath from the shock from what appeared to fight off a rotting corpse did Hylonome look around at the new square she occupied. So far there didn't seem to be any bleed over of rotting corpses set to attack her but one had to wonder if bleed through was a thing to be concerned about.

Her next sense that was triggered was that of her hearing. A sharp barking echoed from all around her and Hylonome turned abruptly in a circle, and without seeing anything, retrieved the die that was apparently the only thing that would allow her to move forward. With that thought in mind did she grip the die tightly in her palm. The barking had subsided but now she had growls echoing all around her and they weren't sounding very friendly either. Something wet landed on her cheek and taking a moment to reach up and wipe it clear did Hylonome decide it was high time to leave this square. Dropping the die once more did she await the results that would allow her to leave this dangerous square behind.

[[ Space 05 to Space 11 ]]

You hear a frantic flapping above you, but that’s all the warning you get before a hoard of bats descend. They scratch and slap and screech, but you avoid getting bitten. For now. You’ve invaded their space and they seem keen to defend it. You can try to fight them, but the only way to escape them is to roll again.

With a roll of six Hylonome gratefully left the previous square behind her and moved the furthest amount that she could on the board with only one die. Her gaze scanned the area around her as she took the moment's peace to catch her breath. The amount of horror that she had already encountered meant that there was a good chance that something else was about to happen. As much as she had expected something to come at her from the sides once more did her ears pick up what sounded like flapping wings. It would seem that while in this place one had to be focused on something happening from all directions. The hoard of bats descended from above and with the classic reaction did the senshi of edelweiss swat at the creatures. She felt one attempt to land on her back and the screech it gave almost deafened her. It's sharp claws attempted to scratch at any exposed skin before it lit from it's perch. The rest of the bats swatted at her relentlessly, wings buffeting her form as she moved forward, clutching the die again in preparation to leave this square. Dropping the fancy object did Hylonome leave the bats in the square behind to someone else to deal with.

[[ Space 11 to Space 12 ]]

The smell of smoke is in the air. You can’t see what’s burning, but you can hear distant screams, and–carnival music? It feels like people are running past you, and the air fills with panic and alarm–but there’s nowhere for you to go, and the smoke is so thick. You’d better roll quickly so you can get out of here.

Feeling at least a little relieved to be off the previous square did the senshi of edelweiss glare at the rolled die result with a bit of disdain. She'd never get anywhere quickly if she kept rolling ones, now would she? Picking up the die again did she clutch it tightly in her left palm before anything could possibly happen to it. If one lost the die in which they used to roll here, then what would happen? Would one feasible be stuck on a square for the rest of eternity?

Scoffing at the idea did Hylonome move a few steps in an effort to see what it was she was facing this time before sniffing at the air. That pungent smell, what did it remind her of? Campfire smoke? Was that right? She breathed in deeply in an effort to prove her hunch correct before she wished she hadn't. A wracking cough erupted from within her chest as the heaviness of the smoke destroyed the quality of air that was in this place. Coughing harshly, almost bent double did Hylonome also register what sounded like the frantic slapping of feet hitting a surface as people would flee in terror. Above all that came the eerie sounds of carnival music, dark and foreboding. Falling to her knees even as a phantom sensation of being bumped into surfaced did the young woman believe that she was seeing black spots in her vision. This was so not good. Unclasping her left hand and feeling the die roll out of it onto the ground did Hylonome gasp for cleaner air. One could feasibly suffocate here if they weren't careful.

With a whooshing sound the air seemed to clear as the barrier separating her current square to the next dropped. Scrambling on hands and knees did the edelweiss senshi move until she couldn't move anymore. The die lay innocuously before her and she almost had the gumption to throw it away. But then how would she get out of here.

[[ Space 12 to Space 14 ]]

The ground is sticky. You land on this and immediately dip, as though you’ve stepped on a trampoline. Close inspection reveals that you are standing on an intricately woven web–and your shoes are stuck. And something is skittering just on the horizon.

The feeling of the ground gently bending underneath her feet had the desired effect of throwing off the mental confusion of her last square's 'curse'. Breathing in cleaner air than what she'd been subjected to earlier was refreshing and, which a bounce in her step (no pun intended), did she try to move forward before realizing that her feet weren't listening to the commands being sent from her brain.

No ... no, it wasn't that. Her toes still wriggled when command but yet her shoes seemed completely stuck to whatever surface she found herself walking over. For the first time since she found herself in this unusual place did Hylonome wish that she could have brought over whatever was in her last square over to this one. Sadly it seemed that the only thing that could travel as she moved inbetween squares was her little tiny die. For fire would have probably worked wonders on a spider's web. Even as she attempte to jerk her sandals free from the sticky threads Hylonome sense that she wasn't alone. Vibrations were coming through her stuck feet, and, like the spider that sensed it had something worthy worth investigating with the struggles she was making, so too could she feel it's approach in the same fashion. "Oh hell no," was the muttered curse as she quickly tried to find a solution out of this. It was not often that one had a stroke of genius come out of the blue but Hylonome was not going to ignore a possible solution if she was quickly running out of options. Kicking her feet out of her sandals did she find herself free, albeit shortly but it was just long enough to throw her die once more. The shoes would be replaced the next time she transformed. For now she sprang up and attempted to clear the webbing even as she threw her die down with a massive heaving motion. She wanted out of here, and quickly.

[[ Space 14 to Space 20 ]] {doubling roll total from this post onwards} 4 x 2=8

The end; once you have arrived here you are free to leave. You will see be basked in the glow of a beautiful, opalescent aura that will take you back home. If you arrived with a guest, you can leave without them or choose to stay until they make it to the end as well. When you arrive back in Destiny City, you may choose to keep the six sided die–if nothing else, it’s pretty! Though, it doesn’t seem to have any magical qualities, that might be for the best.

Barefoot now Hylonome grasped her die carefully as she stepped gingerly through the last square's tile before catching sight of the platform that she was still aiming for. The die showed a four but even as she moved forward did no barriers spring up to keep her contained to a new tile. Tilting her head to the side she wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth, so to speak. Racing forward Hylonome felt the smooth finished surface of the platform before falling to her knees. A surge of relief pulsed through her body before she nearly kissed the ground. Before she even could even do much though she found herself engulfed in a beautiful hued light before finding the familiar outlines of Destiny City surrounding her.

The die was still clutched in her hand and she nearly threw it away before ... deciding against it. It would just be another reminder of yet another strange thing that had happened to her.
