Surtur’s words hung heavily in the air as did her promise to him. The lack of unity among the White Moon was something she couldn’t disagree with nor was the lack of urgency anyone felt when confronting Chaos or other immediate threats. Rainier had told him that next time they would be more prepared but at the end of the day, the only one she could hold accountable to that promise was herself.
Exhaustion gnawed at her and yet, every day after work for the last several weeks she had powered up to find youma terrorizing someone on their way home or an agent siphoning energy from a homeless individual or citizen waiting at a bus stop. One lieutenant even had the audacity to steal a person's wallet once they were unconscious. Sickening that energy wasn’t enough for them.
She had retrieved the stolen item and had retreated back to a place where she could power down and make an official call for an ambulance to check on the person since doing so while in her powered uniform would not end well.
This evening, however, was not as exciting. Just a feral beast terrorizing a couple of stray cats which was easily dusted. Barely left her winded but its claws did tear a hole in her sleeve when she tried attacking it with the cord attached to her weapon.

Retzian felt the other aura, had felt it when there was the feeling of a youma too, but…when it was destroyed, simply not there any longer, she sighed and drew in a breath, summoning her cat toy to her hand and making her way towards the danger.
Thankfully, this one was the same level as she was, and it wouldn’t be a one sided bloodbath or a battle that she couldn’t win…hopefully whoever this was would have a weapon as useless as her own and they could exchange a few blows and be on their way.
…Hopefully the youma had managed to do some damage to whoever this was so that it would be even easier to claim a victory…
As she came into sight of the knight in question, she narrowed her eyes, looking the woman over. It was an appraising look, but also a curious one.
“And, you are?”

Rainier turned and raised an eyebrow at the Lieutenant, clearly unimpressed by her entrance. “Wondering why someone who is dressed as you are is out this late,” she replied, hardly inclined to give her name to someone who was out here looking for trouble. “Quite the nice business suit,” she added as a compliment. Although, the jellyfish on a stick seemed a bit out of place. “However, I find it difficult to believe that you came here out of concern for the cats.” Behind her, one of the soft white and creme-colored ones meowed while another one, an orange tabby, peeked its head around the corner of a recycle bin and hissed angrily. Likely because it was still scared from the youma but Rainier liked to think that it was because it knew that something wasn’t right with the Lieutenant that just showed up. “Am I right?”

“I simply wondered who was out here destroying creatures of the Negaverse, and I wanted to make sure that no others were going to be harmed by whoever saw fit to dust them.” Barbarians. Everyone she had met who was a part of the White Moon was simply a barbarian. It was despicable, and they thought themselves the ones on the right side of things.
Truly it was laughable.
“It’s a pity that you have no manners to introduce yourself when asked. Though I suppose that’s on par with what I’m already thinking of you. So.”
Without another word, without giving the page another chance to say anything, Retzian leapt towards her, wiggling the cat toy in front of the woman’s face as she swung her fist to land a punch in her side.
One day, she would find a way to truly assist the youma. There had to be a better way to live that didn’t involve being turned to dust.

Unafraid of the ‘attack’, Rainier raised an arm to guard her face and grabbed hold of the jellyfish strings. With a harsh yank, she attempted to pull the weapon free of the lieutenant's hand while moving to evade the punch. Her other hand reached out to grab the woman's other wrist, to better control the situation. Pivoting on her heel she twisted, shifting her weight to use the forward momentum and hip-throw the woman onto her back before she could take another swing. As a police officer, it was not uncommon for a suspect to brandish a far more lethal weapon at her; crowbar, knife, and yes- a gun on more than one occasion. A cat toy, or some summertime gift she might have found at a street fair, was not something for Rainier to fear. “What’s a pity is your complacency and lack of empathy towards innocent victims. You’re delusional if you think that the monsters have a place here in Destiny City and should be allowed to run free like rabid animals. You’re thoughts are twisted,” she added in disgust.

Retzian fell quiet, keeping her body loose so that nothing got too terribly wrenched. Interesting. Clearly this Page had pretty good fighting skills…that. Was interesting. Obviously it was something that she could report, an she began taking in the woman’s outfit, trying to figure out just what type of a Knight she was. “What’s a monster to some might be precious to others, you know. You would call a raccoon a monster if it was coming after you on a dark street. Creatures are creatures, and they all deserve respect.”
With a sigh she took a step backwards and shook her head. “If you think I lack pity or empathy, fine. But, take a look at yourself and see where your pity has gone.
Her eyes swept over the woman’s outfit once again, taking in the strange circuit like decoration and sighed. “Knights. You’re all so strange, I’ll give you that.”
She turned away slightly and then swung herself around, jamming the heel of her shoe into the top of the woman’s boot before scooping up her weapon and running as quickly as she could.
Not being stupid, Retzian knew that she couldn’t win a fight like this, not if she was outmatched. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t get away.

The downside of her uniform was that when compared to the one she wore to work, this one offered minimal protection from physical attacks. During the day she could rely on her armored vest, steel toed shes, and and kevlar clothing. As she was now- the boots Rainier wore didn’t offer the same resistance to a heeled shoe being driven into her foot. Drawing in a hissing breath, she tried to maintain her composure and stance in case the Lieutenant wanted to try for round two but was surprised, if not incredibly relieved, that the woman instead decided to flee with her toy-like weapon. To herself, she muttered under her breath a string of curses. “That’s going to leave a ******** bruise-” Walking around tomorrow with tight-laced work boots was going to hurt like a b***h. For a moment she considered reaching out to Hannah and asking if she would help her out but decided against it. Let this be a lesson learned and move on from it. At least her foot didn’t feel broken but if it swelled up too bad in the morning she might not have a choice but to reach out to her friend.
