It had been two days since she had helped her brother, and incidentally, a bunch of White Moon senshi, destroy the blight. Help was actually quite a loose term for being the perfect damsel in distress while Vauxite made up for her lack of skills on how to fight and useless magic.

BUT! And this was a big but.

For the first time in over five years, her magic actually worked! Despite the bruises and other minor injuries, Markeb was ecstatic about this revelation. She’d been holding onto that feeling so long that it left her lying in bed at night wondering what that Senshi had asked for to make the little star turn blue.

Exhaustion was a thing, but now that she was on her fifth wind, Markeb had reached a point she had to share it with lest she explode and accidentally tell it to the wrong person. So- she did what any sane Dark Mirror Senshi would do. Located one of the few mirrors she used frequently when looking to stargaze for a few hours in peace with her telescope, paced in front of it for an hour while stopping to chew on her thumbnail nervously staring at her own reflection only to realize how silly she looked, then finally- knocked on it.

Yes, as if the mirror was the door to someone’s home, she knocked on it four times. Although she might not be able to pass through it into mirror space, she did wonder if someone was in there, could they hear her request for entry.

Maybe! Who knew- definitely not her otherwise she wouldn’t be trying.

“Remarque?” She asked hesitantly just in case someone else were to peek their head through and startle the s**t out of her instead. There were still at least a handful of them left, Dark Mirror Senshi that is. Several of them were at the meeting last year, although… honestly- she couldn’t remember why they were called to gather nor what was actually said. Probably because it didn’t impact her in the slightest.

Minutes rolled by in absolute silence before she tried again, this time calling for the only other name she knew. “Sadalsuud?” this time her voice was a bit quieter, the excitement she felt slowly dying.

“I guess it’s only a door for those who have earned a higher rank.” Would have been easier to see if someone was available if she could just enter Mirrorspace on her own without having to bother someone to let her inside. The place was supposed to be their sanctuary of sorts and yet still she was locked out of it. For her, the mirrors were merely a convenient way to travel from place to place.

Markeb reached into her subspace pocket and pulled out a compact, the weight of which was light in the palm of her hand.

For a long moment, she stared at it, contemplated trying to use it to communicate with either her Prince or her friend but ultimately decided against it. In all her years of being a Senshi, she couldn’t remember a time that it would have been necessary to use it, and the only time she ever got messages was when it was broadcast to everyone. Honestly, she didn’t know if it was always a open communication with everyone or how this thing was supposed to work.

“Willing to bet neither are powered up right now,” which was a very distinct possibility since she vaguely remembered that Remarque had a family and that one of the other Dark Mirror Senshi was his wife. Honestly, she really hadn’t considered that before her excitement had her trying to reach out to him and a part of her felt slightly relieved that nobody popped their head out of the mirror in greeting. The last thing she needed was for someone to question her reason for needing him, or rather wanting him here.

As time passed and the temperature dipped even more, the excitement she felt had already banked to a glowing ember, still there but a far cry from what it was. The compact was stowed away before she stepped through the reflective surface back into another mirror that was hidden just a block away from her home.

“Hopefully I can find that senshi in less time than it took me to find Aiden.” Wishful thinking but as the Senshi of Wishes, surely something she wished for would come true. Unless the irony of it was that none would come true because of her sphere. If that were the case then being what she was would continue to suck going forward.
