A crisp breeze has rolled into Tendaji, bringing the temperatures down both on land and sea. Along with the shortening of days, this is a sign that it is time to harvest food and resources to prepare for the winter months.
Typically, harvesting is a community effort. Be it the family all coming together to ensure the produce is picked before it sours, or the community coming in to help till the fields, it is quite the event. Most don't mind stepping up, considering the hard work always pays off with a festival, but some do find it quite a burden.
Either way, if the community wishes to come together and survive another long winter, it's time for you to step in and play your part.
[ The fall harvest is back again. This time, you have been asked to play your part. Be it helping gather materials like wood and furs or plucking the fruits and vegetables from the fields, your task has been laid out for you.
When replying to this event, we are looking for your character to be actively helping with the fall harvest. Maybe it's a team effort with a friend, or a thoughtful reflection of what fall means. Take the time to explore how your character feels doing such work during this time of year. ]
Hargitt 1
Harvest season came as naturally to the huntsman as the changing of the moon. Even if he'd gotten out of practice a bit with his traveling, spending time with his brother at his homestead had allowed Hargitt to fall back into old routines. Long before the sun had ever risen Hargitt was out in the fields helping Merritt and his children tend to the capramel. It was odd, seeing his abrasive, free spirited brother settled with a family, but the same could easily be said of him.
Bales of hay still needed to be hoisted into the barn to help feed the herd through the winter as well as provisions for the family themselves. As they set about getting ready to start lifting Merritt's wife carried a crate of preserves, each packed neatly into covered jars, down into a protected cellar.
"Where's Rajani? Haven't seen her yet this morning."
"The sun isn't even up, Merritt. Give her time."
Merritt snorted and murmured something under his breath before going on about things. He meant well, Hargitt knew that much, but the slightest thing could get under Merritt's skin.

Ishani 1
Ishani woke with the sun, but not because she wanted to. Normally she would have gotten up just long enough to pull the curtains tight or to bury her head under a pillow. Today, however, the noises kept pulling her out of sleep. There was shuffling happening around the house, a few muffled shouts from outside, and the sun hadn't even fully risen yet!
With an irritated growl, the hybrid sat up and turned a glare toward the window. "What are they even doing this early?" Something something harvest...Her sleep fogged brain wasn't keeping up with the details. Giving into another groan, Ishani slipped out of bed onto the floor and started to get dressed. Her hair was a mess when she stepped into the kitchen where her Aunt was steadily cooking away, so her older cousin helped to pull it back while she had a quick breakfast and went outside to see what all the commotion was about.

Harlei 1
Unlike her mother and sister, early mornings didn't bother her. In fact she was busy running around in the dim light. Her arms were out to either side of her as she grinned from ear to ear. She'd managed to sneak out of the house in her night gown and a pair of boots with her hair an absolute disaster. Harlei waited a bit before she hopped her way over to her dad and leaped at his leg. Due to the large crystals he had she always had to angle herself just right.
"Da! Can we go hunting?" She had forgotten about the Harvest, honestly. Harlei had woken up and instantly wanted to go out to track something down.
Of course she spared a glance at her uncle but didn't say anything to him, her dad usually had her attention unless her sister was around. She stayed latched onto his leg as she stared up at him with pleading eyes.

Rajani 1
The shifter was definitely not a morning person and if she continued to have it her way she never would be. However, the noise going on around the house would be enough to wake the dead. Not to mention that motherly instinct that told her when her hellions were not where they were supposed to be was nagging at her. So Rajani got up.
With a yawn she tossed her hair over her shoulder, Not bothering to braid it. She'd ask Hargitt to later in the day. Or maybe one of the girls would want to. Either way it wasn't her problem. Quickly she got dressed and slipped her boots on before she made her way out. A wave and mumbled greeting was given to those inside as she passed them.
Once outside she took a second to squint at the sky, internally cursing the day, then started to look around for the ones that belonged to her. When she spotted Hargitt she headed toward him, only noticing Harlei hanging off him when she was about ten feet away. "It's too early for this.. why are we up?"

Hargitt 2
Merritt looked down at his younger brother's unkempt child with an exhausted sort of drawl to his mouth. While Hargitt knew his brother didn't mind having the girls around, he was never shy about showing them affection, he was also just as quick to question his brother's parenting style.
The fact his child was out in her nightgown was likely eating him alive.
"Not today, pup. We have a lot of work today." He reached down to place a hand on her back, giving her a smaller awkward version of a hug due to the positioning. "You'll need to help out. Ishani too..." Where was that girl? Hargitt raised his head to look back toward the house. Maybe he should go in to get her?
At first a little blonde figure emerged from the house. He quirked his mouth into a half smile, watching the way she still stumbled with sleep in her eyes, and then Rajani came shortly after.
"It's the harvest," Merritt answered for him. "Lots to be done before winter. A couple extra hands would be nice."

Ishani 2
Ishani blinked one eye, then the other, with an absolutely vacant look on her face. She followed the sounds of others on instinct alone without actually paying to who was talking, much less the fact that her twin was hanging off their Da like usual. The hybrid ran her hands over her face with a groan and when she pulled them off the act was accompanied with a wide yawn.
"Harvest sucks." Ishani grumbled. "I thought when you harvested things it was cuz you were gonna eat 'em. You have capramel; are we huntin' them?"
"No, we're feedin' them." Merritt huffed. "See all of that hay? It needs to go to the top of the barn and you're gonna help get it there."
Ishani waited all of a second before throwing her head back in a whine.

Harlei 2
The awkward hug was met with a lean, Harlei let herself fall toward his hand so it was like that was the only thing holding her up. Of course she still had a hold of his leg so she wouldn't fall. Her nose wrinkled up when he told her no on hunting, and it got worse when he mentioned the harvest. She really didn't want to. "Daaaaa!" Harlei whined while she tugged at his leg.
Then she looked toward her sister, noting her presence. She fully agreed with Ishani about hunting. Of course hearing her uncle made her roll her eyes at him before she looked back up at her Dad. "Do we have toooo?" It didn't sound fun and she didn't really like the idea of moving stuff around all day. Didn't her uncle have his own kids for manual labor?

Rajani 2
She was almost in sync with Ishani as far as the yawn went. And she managed to catch the tail end of the conversation. The harvest. That was right. It had been mentioned. Things needed done. The shifter didn't miss the way the hellions whined about it.
Rajani looked down at Ishani with a brow raised. It was too early for her to deal with their attitudes. Of course she looked up at Hargitt and gave him a sassy look that said 'you did this.' He was the one that cursed them with two daughters that acted like her. She had wanted a well mannered boy, but nooooo.
She took in a d eep breath and let it out slowly before she headed over to Hargitt with another yawn. "What are we doing?" It was best for her to look at it like another job.

Hargitt 3
As much as he'd missed the hustle and bustle of his younger siblings around him, Hargitt hadn't missed the whining. While he knew it was just part of childhood and that his daughters would grow out of it the sheer presence didn't stop him from looking at Rajani. At her look, he tossed one back as he'd done in the past. He may have said that a daughter would act like her, but he'd never said two. That was all her influence.
"Yes, Harlei, we're helping." They needed to learn to pitch in however they could no matter where they would. The last thing Hargitt wanted was to raise a couple of moochers so teaching them early on was best.
"Merritt's boys have been loading up the hay onto carts and bringing them here. We need to stack them onto the plank and pull them up." He pointed toward a flat piece of wood with ropes on either end. It wouldn't hold much, but too much weight would make it hard to get it up to the second floor anyway.

Ishani 3
Even as he spoke Ishani could see her cousins in the distance tossing the bales onto a cart. Some sort of lumbering beast looked back as they jostled it, it's slack jawed stare never leaving them until it deemed things alright and slowly turning back. It was the ugliest thing she'd ever seen, and she'd said as much; multiple times.
There was already the one load that her father and Uncle had been working on so she started to move toward it. The bales were smaller rectangles that she could move if she tugged enough, but..."Harlei! C'mere. We'll do it together."

Harlei 3
The eye roll that occurred could be labeled as legendary. She hated when her dad mentioned what her cousins did versus what she and her sister did. Harlei wasn't a huge fan of being compared to someone else's kids since she quite obviously was not theirs and she had the better parents and sibling.
Still, when Ishani called for her attention she looked toward her and then moved in her direction. She passed by her mother and gave a barely there brush of her fingers against Rajani's, a sign that she wasn't ignoring her, and moved along. "We can get it done quickly and then go do something more fun." She agreed.
Harlei glanced back at her dad to make sure that was acceptable. If she was promised something more interesting then she could easily do the boring stuff.

I'm late~
Rajani 3
She watched the interaction between the spawn and her best friend before she chuckled a bit to herself. As Ishani spoke up to gain her sister's attention Rajani also looked toward her to see what she was up to. Knowing the girls were going to use teamwork she gave a half smile. Of course she felt Harlei go past and glanced down at her, smile still in place, and gave a small nod of approval over her not arguing with her sister about helping.
From there the shifter made her way over to Hargitt and yawned once more. "Why do people get up so early? Is it a family trait? Is it inheritable?" She always hated mornings and yet Hargitt was able to get up with what seemed like very little issues. Same for the girls apparently.

Ishani 4
"Yeah! The faster we get it done the sooner we can run away." She tried her best to murmur the last part, but Ishani wasn't nearly as sly as she tried to be. In her eyes it was just a task for the morning and nothing more. Unbeknownst to her it would take nearly all day but for now she still had hope they could make a grand escape.
Instead of looking to her parents, the little blonde started tugging on the bale and kicked off the process. "This sucks. I hate hay; it makes my skin itch."

Hargitt 4
Merritt passed a look to Hargitt before going back to work, but instead of bowing to his elder brother Hargitt rolled his eyes. The elder Farris had taken after their parents in his parenting style, but Hargitt didn't see the point in it. "So long as you do a good job." Quick was all well and good, but if it was a slack job then they'd be doing it again plus more.
"I always thought early mornings were just mornings before you." He smirked and bent down to lift a bale under each arm. "Guess it's just part of living out here. Gotta get up when the capramel do."

Harlei 4
While she wasn't too keen on running away she did like the idea that they would be able to do another activity. So she simply agreed with her sister and grabbed the same bale her sister had. With a tug she helped Ishani move the hay. "I don't like it either." Harlei understood what it was used for but she did find it annoying to deal with. Wild Capramel didn't need it. They ate regular grass or weeds.
"I hope if gives Uncle an itchy butt." That would be good pay back for having to do the work.
