(1/10)
Compared to the city where his sister lived and he and his parents often stayed, the peaceful countryside they were staying at was... pretty. Boring, but pretty. The fields rolled along, vibrant and green from a distance, and always busy with people - though not in the constant way the cities were. Casimir was a people person, but he couldn't tell what he liked better - the cheery people out here, or just how many people there were back there.
Callum wasn't performing out here, and opted to stay in the city with Ygraine and Calliana. His baba though had to come out here to work in the fields and help with the harvests and Casimir had been volunteered to come with him. [He wouldn't know that it was a joint effort on Callum and Ygraine's part, as they recognized that Nimueh longed for a closer connection with his son, who often opted to trail after his papa instead].
They'd had the evenings to cook together and eat and talk and bond a bit, with stories and cheery nights, but during the day Casimir was bored. So today he'd run off from the Geian woman who watched a lot of the younger kids while their families were bringing in the harvests and instead, he ran out to the line of cobbled stone walls around the village, balancing on top of them, arms outstretched as he walked.

It was a rarity that Endellion was ever alone. When she was on the ship quiet time was nearly impossible to find and the most privacy she got was at night when it was just herself and Imani. Since taking some shore time in Belrea she'd tried to branch out a little which was, as she'd come to find out, horribly dull.
Where was the activity? The markets and hustling bodies? Most every port they'd ever stopped in was bustling with life and even Belrea had given it's own flavor to the mix, but this...this was just rough. While she could appreciate the beauty the countryside brought, Endellion needed something more than a harvest.
So, she'd taken to meandering around the little village and keeping an eye out for anything interesting. The little yaeli hybrid was incredibly interesting and thus she moved closer. Stealthily. She kept as low of a profile as she could, choosing to hide behind a few crates that were pressed against the stone wall, until he was close enough for her to jump up with a shriek.

(2/10) Casimir teetered here and there, his balance not especially good, but the wall was thick and not difficult to balance on. If he wanted, he could put both feet together and still solidly stand on it without even needing to balance at all!
That still didn't protect him, though, when a sudden shriek beside him made him scream, arms pinwheeling as he fought to keep upright. He tottered, almost falling and braining himself, but managed to catch his footing at the last moment. He sagged down into a crouch, shaky hands holding onto the wall as he cast a scathing look down at... another kid. They were definitely hybrid, just like he was - but he looked nothing like any of his family. ...Maybe close to Sol, with dark skin and blonde hair, but ... not quite.
"You're lucky I didn't stab you!" He said, accusingly, pointing at the daggers on his hip. They were both wood, dull and carved, with rope twining around the handles - handmade by his baba. They were just for practicing, since he wasn't allowed to use a sword yet (silly baba!!)

Aww! He didn't fall! Endellion put her hands ontop of the crate and pulled herself up with a pout. She really hoped for more, even if the scream was a nice touch. Although, now that she could actually look at him, it was obvious he was a lot more than she'd originally thought. Del had expected yaeli; the ears were a dead giveaway and a hybrid because of his hair, but what was up with his eyes?!
Her eyes widened. "Stab me? With those?" Del let out a loud, scathing bark of a laugh and reached for the kitchen knife she kept stashed in a satchel on her hip. It was dull - meant for spreading butter and jams - but at least it was real! "I'd get you before you got me!"

(3/10) Cas slumped down to sit, facing them, puffing up as his cheeks darkened in embarrassment. They were laughing! At HIM! Up close, the kid was... weird looking. They had markings on their face that he didn't recognize, but reminded him of Nimia and Fiadah, his nieces. He'd only met them once that he could remember.
The pink stones on the other kid's face were pretty though, smooth, unlike his own lumpy growths.
Casimir didn't have long to examine the stranger though, not when she was showing him HER knife.
His eyes widened, impressed despite himself, and without any self preservation he leaned in a bit to look at it. "Woah. Well, if I did it still woulda hurt." He conceded, still a bit embarrassed. He'd been really disappointed when his papa gave him the fake knives.

Woah, he was getting closer and those eyes were huge. She'd seen Aishans before, but none of them had big, silver eyes like a lump of....well, silver. They would have been really pretty if they weren't right on her.
"Yeah, mine wouldn't either. I'd have to stab really hard to do anything." Even as she flipped the knife around, there was the barest hint of an edge along the blade, mainly to cut through bread. "I could punch you though and that'd hurt. So...yeah, I could still take you." Maybe. The other kid looked like they were bigger than her, but she wasn't so sure if that was because of age or blood.
"You live here?"

(4/10) Only kids could straddle the line between threats and healthy socializing so easily. Casimir felt a little better when she pointed out that her knife was dull, but he still felt a flash of petty jealousy that a kid smaller than him had a REAL knife, and he couldn't. He nodded along, not seeming to mind her assertion that she could punch him. "Nah - we're stayin' in the city." He said, looking at her again, instead of the knife. "You run around screaming at people all the time?"
He assumed she didn't live here - if she did, she'd have known if HE did, right? "You here to harvest stuff too?"

"Sometimes." She admitted with a wry grin. "Depends on if I'll get caught or not." If word were to get back to her parents then it wasn't worth it, but a harmless prank here and there? Priceless.
"Sort of. My papa's family is close so we came ashore for a while." She turned around ontop of the crate to kick her legs out and stretch them. There was a bunch of questions there - like, why was a kid like him all the way in Belrea to harvest things - but honestly? Endellion didn't care and she wasn't going to waste time asking.
"So, do you train with your stabby sticks or do you like just carrying them?"

(5/10) Hmm. Casimir couldn't see the appeal in yelling at people, and scaring them. He grumbled unhappily to himself, and was just glad that Calliana was more likely to ignore him than to go out of her way to mess with him. He was a bit embarrassed at how scared he'd got, how his little heart was still hammering in the aftershocks of it.
He was more curious about the kid. They had a papa, and said 'ashore' - did they live on a boat?! He'd not been on one since he was really little, when he could remember them leaving Yael and traveling. Most of his life that he remembered was in Belrea, but those oldest of memories still filled him with awe and adventurous longing.
At the question, he puffed out his little chest and pulled the knives out from their loops. They didn't have sheathes, so much as they nestled onto his belt, held in place by small leather sleeves his baba had made for them. "I'm like my papa- I'm gonna be a sword dancer." He said, proudly. Then... looking at the knives, he wilted a little, pouting. "My baba though says I'm not old enough for swords, so I'm learning with knives right now. ... But! I'll get a sword soon!" Maybe by his next nameday he would!

She leaned over on the edge of the crate, twisting her body around to get a better look at his 'blades'. They looked a lot like the toy swords they'd been given on the ship; the very ones that were still in her room, growing dusty, now that she had her real knife. Well, they were similar in a sense. Hers didn't have a fancy sheath or any of that extra stuff that made her mouth turn into a little 'o'.
"A sword dancer? Woah! That's so cool!" Was he really going to be one? Maybe he was better at dancing than he was at keeping an eye on his surroundings! But...Her eyebrows furrowed. "What's a baba?"

(6/10) Now that he had the other kid's attention, Casimir felt himself puffing up with vain self importance. He grinned brightly at the praise, and wished he'd learned how to turn the knives against his knuckles, like his papa had been trying to teach him. He'd been told he was still little, and that his 'dexterity' would get better as he practiced.
Right now though, he knew for a fact he'd just knock the knife against his finger, get another bruise, and probably fumble the knife to the ground below, none of which he wanted to do while impressing this other kid.
"Mhmm!" He agreed, trying to think what he could tell them about his papa that would make their mouth drop open in amazement.
Instead, he was distracted at the question. Once, he would have responded snooty and bossy - but he'd learned, after meeting Colm and Arden, that not all families were like his. "He's like my papa, but he's called 'baba' so they don't both come over when I call for 'em." He said, with more patience than he normally had. "He's huge! Yesterday, he came back from the harvest carrying TWO crates, all by himself! How many crates can YOUR papa carry?" Now, he was puffing up again, turning it into a competition all over again.

"Oooh." So he had two dads. Was he adopted, then? Was that why he was in Belrea?....Would it be rude to ask?...Did she still want to? Yessss.
Two crates? He really WAS huge! What would a man like that even look like? "My papa doesn't have to carry crates; he has a crew to do it for him because he has his own ship." It was a horrible little dig and she knew it, but Endellion didn't much mind. In the battle of fathers hers would always win, she just needed to prove it!

(7/10) A crew? His own SHIP?! It was Casimir's turn to look amazing, even if it was in spite of himself. He'd been bragging about HIS dad, but now -
He felt a bit jealous, but he wasn't even sure what of. What would his baba even DO with a ship, if he had one? That didn't stop his face from going ruddy, stammering a bit over his words as he considered what to shoot back at the other kid. "Yeah, well- good! 'Cause my dad does it best--" That was so dumb! But it was already out, and instead Casimir glared a bit challengingly at the other kid.
... Then... "... What's it like to have your own ship?"

"It's really nice. We get to go all over the place and it's a lot of fun. The only time it's not is when it storms because the waves are HUGE and the whole ships rocks A TON." Even as she spoke about it Endellion was lifting her arms and waving them around, mimicking the way a ship might move on rough waters. She was making it out to be more spectacular than it was, really, since she was usually 'safe' below deck and scared out of her mind.
"It's pretty here, but I miss being on the water." And then, after thinking about it a bit, she asked, "Do you miss being in the city?"

(8/10) It sounded like SO much fun. Casimir watched as the other kid illustrated with grand hand motions, gasping at the image of massive waves that could threaten to tilt them overboard. He remembered the air ship more than the actual boats he'd been on, but it sounded so cool! And, in the back of his mind, he was grateful that she wasn't making fun of him for his dad not having a ship of his own.
As for that question... did he? They didn't do a lot in the city most days. Most of the time, they stayed in Ygraine and Asa's small, modest apartment playing, unless their nephews took them out to explore the city after classes. But sometimes...
"A bit." he said, puffing up again. "Some nights, there's lights everywhere, and dancing and music! My papa performs, and everyone throws coins and there's sticky buns to eat sometimes." Nothing as exciting as massive waves, or going wherever he wanted, but - it was fun too! It really was.
