Building a Character

For a complete in depth step by step guide for making a character please see the Quick Character Creation Manual.

To make a Character Log please post a new thread in the Character Logs Subforum.


When making this thread, be sure to set the Post Action to "Random Number" and have that random number be generated between 0 and 21. This is important that you do this now, as post actions cannot be added from the post edit feature.

When done creating your Character Log, please submit a Character Log Approval Request Form to the Guild Captain (Great Neko Kami). This Private Message should have [Character Log Approval Request] in the title and a link to your Character Log thread in the message. You must have your Character Log approved in order to use Active Stats or Dice Rolls for anything, except for the initial Dice Roll needed to determine the Arcana for a new Character in their initial Character Log post.

Your Character Log must reach a certain benchmark of properly recorded information in order to be approved. This required information is;
- Name
- Arcana
- Sunsign
- Race Type
- Base Stats and 13 Base Stat Points used
- Power Origin
- All Active Stats properly listed
- Race and Class Level Points properly managed
- Profession Level Points properly managed.

In order to get your Character Log approved, you must also agree to the User Agreement by replying "I agree".

Active Stats Information

Character Log Approved?
All Character Logs need to be approved by the Guild Captain. This approval request is to be sent after you fill out your Character Log. Please PM "Great Neko Kami" a Private Message with [Character Log Approval] in the title. The point of approval is to see if all the stats and numbers are set up properly on your character.

Health Status
If you partake in a Conflict you run the risk of being various Injury Stages. Which Injury Stage you are in depends on the difference between the Winning Roll with Bonuses and the Losing Roll with Bonuses.
Injury Stages
Healthy - Default state
Weakened - for differences of 6-10
Injured - for differences of 11-15, or if the difference is 6-10 and you were already Weakened.
Critically Injured - For differences of 16 or more, or if if the difference is 11-15 and you were already Weakened or Injured, or if the difference is 6-10 and you were already Injured.

Once you are Critically Injured you cannot partake in any Conflicts and must find a way to heal, such as Hospitals or Healing potions. Some ways of healing may require you to first exit the scene with the conflict that you got injured in.

Level
You gain Levels by completing Path Stages and some Quests. Your Character starts at Level 1. The Maximum Level is 100, as in you cease to gain Levels at that point. Each time you gain a Level you receive a Class/Race Level Point.
Active Stats
Active Stats are the combination of your Base Stats and all Stat Bonuses you have. The format is similar to the Base Stats section.

Attack/Defense Manifest Bonuses
Attack/Defense Manifest Bonus provides bonuses to actions involving one of the Attack/Defense Manifest Bonuses. For example, someone trying to do a thrusting attack with a spear would get a benefit from Stab Attack, while a solid metal plate of armor Equipped would provide Stab Defense. Perhaps you are a spell-caster type that is casting ice spells, you could create a big chunk of ice for Crush Attack or make ice lances for Stab Attack, and possibly try to freeze the air for a Chill Attack. Maybe you are some kind of monk Class, giving you Mind Defense.

Affinities

Affinity is determined by various things, required by various things and effect various things. Affinities can go negative. The most common effect of Affinity is that it increases your roles when Attacking with the appropriate Affinity or Defending with the appropriate Affinity. On your Character Log you do not have to list Affinities with a value of 0.

An Affinity is supposed to represent the type of magical power that is associated with your Attacking or Defending action. There are Affinities for non-magical things such as Physical Body Affinity, Weapon Affinity, Projectile Affinity. A metal sword could be boosted by Metal Affinity, a wooden bat boosted by Wood Affinity.

Please pick from the Affinities List or submit a New Affinities Request to the Soul King.

Active Profession Levels
If you have a Profession you will have a value for each Profession that you have here. It is the combination of your Profession Level and Profession Level Bonus. Profession Level Bonus can be obtained from various sources such as Class/Races Levels.

Character Sheet Information

Name
This is want your Character to be referred to as. You may list extra nick-names here.

Gender

You can make your Gender anything. Some things have Gender requirements. Your Gender will effect various abilities and effects. It is up to the Defending Player to decide if a Gender based ability or effect does anything or is compatible with how you intend to role-play your Character.


Arcana

When creating a new Character, on your first post of your Character log please include a post action of generating a random number between 0 and 21. Please be very careful to include this random number generation in the original post of your Character Log when creating your character log, as you will have to get your Character Log deleted to change or add an Arcana. Your Arcana will be decided by what number this ends up being.

Each different Arcana will provide some kind of alteration to your Stats, as well as cause certain effects and abilities to effect you depending on your Arcana.

Titles

Under special circumstances your Character will be given a Title. Titles provide special permissions and signals your position in the role-playing guild. Most likely you will not start with any Titles.

Titles are to be italicized. Example: Soul King.

If you do not have any Titles just put "None" on your Character Log or leave this section out of it.

Race Type
You must pick from one of the 3 available Race Types.
Different Race Types provide access to varying levels of Racial Levels.
Racial Levels
work like Classes, but they are tied to the nature of your characters body.

Humanoid
No Racial Levels. Starts with 1 Level in 1 Common Class. Like regular humans, though could be something like an elf, dwarves, goblins, orcs. Race doesn't play much of a factor in strength and growth. Not seen as monsters.

Demi-Human
25 Available Racial Levels. Starts with 1 Level in 1 Common Race. Like Humanoids, but a mixture of animal and monster. Much more humanlike and tend to naturally be empathic like humanoids and animals. Bunny girls, catboys, beastmen, more monster like humanoids like trolls, centaurs or mermaids.

Heteromorph
50 Available Racial Levels. Starts with 1 Level in either a Common Race or can bypass the requirements for 1 Uncommon Race. Race plays a much more important part in a Heteromorphs strength and growth. A scared person would likely call a Heteromorph a monster if facing one in battle. Some examples being the undead, demons and devils, beings like angels and ice maidens, constructs like golems and dolls, abstract entities like energy beings and mimics. In Realms of Soul Yddrasil being a God is a separate mechanic from Races, so please do not make your Race anything that would be considered to be a God, though if you insist, power yourself down somehow.




Stats
All Stats are 0 by default and can go negative.
Players get (13) Stat Points at Character creation.
Reducing Base Stats to under 0 to give you more Starting Stat Points is NOT an option.
At character creation no Stat can be any higher than 3.
Stats cannot be used for Conflicts until your stat sheet has been approved.

Power Origin
Your Power Origin should describe where your character gets its power from, sort of a centerpiece description of what kind of character you are making. Every character should have their own unique Power Origin.

Your Power Origin provides a Stat Bonus or possibly multiple Stat Bonuses. To determine what Stat Bonus your Power Origin provides, please pick a Stat Bonus format from this following list;
•(+1 one Stat)
•(+2 one Stat, - 1 one Stat)
•(+1 two Stats, - 1 one Stat)
•(+1 three Stats, - 1 two different Stats)

Each Power Origin needs to have a description. This description needs to match the name of the Power Origin and it needs to explain the Stat adjustments that it provides.

Example Power Origin;

Power Origin: Studious Student (+2 INT, - 1 STR)
Power Origin Description: CharacterNamespent most of their youth zealously studying for college, though they have neglected physical education.



Class and Race Levels
You receive a Level Point to put into a Class or a Race when you start a new Character at Level 1, and you get one each time you Level Up. You Level Up when you complete a Path Section or a Quest, up until Level 100.
Classes and Races are divided into 4 types
- (Common) Has none or very little requirements. Able to put 15 Level Points into it
- (Uncommon) Has more difficult requirements than (Common). Able to put 10 Level Points into it. Heteromorphs can bypass the requirement for the Race Level they start with.
- (Rare) Has even more difficult requirements than (Uncommon). Able to put 5 Level Points into it.
- (God) Can only be obtained through special circumstances. Varying amount of Level Points can be put into it.

Humanoids must start with a (Common) Class Level. They cannot take any Race Levels.
Demi-Humans must start with a (Common) Race Level. Throughout their journey to Level 100, they must put at 24 more Level Points into Race Levels and 75 Level Points into Class Levels.
Heteromorphs must start with either a (Common) Race Level or they are able to bypass the requirements to start with an (Uncommon) Race Level. Throughout their journey to Level 100, they must put at 49 Level Points into Race Levels and 50 Level Points into Class Levels.

Please include any Active Stat Bonuses that you have earned from a Class or Race Level in this section underneath the appropriate Class or Race Level.

Example:
(Common Class) Lightining Mage Level 3
(+1 Mag)(+1 Electric Affinity)

You can find the Class and Race Database sub-forum here.

You likely will want to make your own Class or Race to add to the Class and Race Database. You can find information on how to do that at the New Class and Race Creation Guide thread here. This can be done before you finish Creating your Character.

Unspent Class and Race Level Points
Here you can store Class and Race Levels that you obtained by Leveling Up, but you don't want to spend them immediately. You can store Class and Race Level Points here when you first create your Character. Demi-Humans and Hetermorphs must spend their first Class and Race Level Point on a Race Level before putting any in a Class Level.

Professions
Professions are another type of stat that Character have. You may only have 3 Professions. They all start at Profession Level 1. When creating a new Character, that Character is given one Profession Point, which can be used to start a new Profession at Profession Level 1, or level up a Profession . Characters also get a Profession Point when they reach the following Character Levels; 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100.

Unspent Profession Level Points
This is where you put any unspent Profession Level Points you have. You will have 1 at Character Creation if you don't pick any Profession Levels at the time.

Equipment, Inventory and Soul Yggdrasil Coin(SYC) Information

Equipment and Inventory are where you store and equip your Items.

Items are things you obtain that need to be tracked. Whenever you add an Item from your Inventory or remove an Item from your Inventory, you must log it in a new post on your Character Log.

Whenever you equip or un-equip a piece of Equipment, you must log it in a new post on your Character Log.

Items follow the following format.

Item Icon: This is graphic that represents the item. Please keep it small.
Item Name This is the name of the Item
Item Category: All Items fall into a Catagory
Item Sub-Category: Some Categories have Sub-Categories, if your Item has none, do not include this section.
Item Description: This is where you describe the item.
Item Effect: This is where you describe what benefits this item has and how to use it. If it has no Effect, do not include this section.

Equipment
Players get 3 unique Equipment Slots
Only 1 Item can occupy an Equipment Slot at a time and it must fit the appropriate Equipment Slots

Inventory

Your Inventory holds all of your Items.

Characters start out with an Inventory Limit of 10, limiting you to having 10 Items in your Inventory at a time. This can be raised or lowered by various things by the Active Stat "Inventory Size Bonus"

Some Items are marked as being unable to be deleted.

Items can be found in the Item Database. To add a new Item to the Item Database submit a New Item Request to the Soul King.

Soul Yggdrasil Coin(SYC)

Soul Yggdrasil Coin, also known as SYC for short, is the currency you will use in this world. SYC is managed in it's own section aka purse on each Character Log, NPC Page, Shop page, Kingdom Page, and Guild Page.

All additions or subtractions to a SYC purse must be recorded in the appropriate thread with a new post.

Inaccurate report of SYC transactions will be punished with an appropriate Fraud Charge.

Characters start with 10 SYC. NPCs, Kingdom Treasuries, Guild Treasuries start off with 0.

Associated NPCs
This is where you list out NPCs that are associated with your Character. Link to the NPC's thread in the NPC Database sub-forum.
Property/Buildings

This is where you list out the Property/Buildings that your Character is the Property Owner of. Please provide a link to the Property/Building's thread.
Badges
List any Badges your Character has obtained. Please include the Active Stat Bonus(es) that the Badge(s) provide.
Artifacts
This is where you list out any Artifacts in your Character's possession. Artifacts are special Items that go beyond what regular Items can provide. Artifacts can only be created by the Guild Captain. Artifacts do not count towards your Inventory Limit
