Lysithea had gotten Varuna’s information from Malcolm, and as she sat on a swing set in the park, she typed out a message, hoping that the other senshi was patrolling. If not, well, they could just figure things out later.
Quote: Hello Varuna! I’m Sailor Lysithea, I think Adria might have mentioned me to you, but if he didn’t, or if he told you that I was corrupted, that’s the truth but I’m back now and we’re looking to figure things out with the court, he said that you might be interested in joining us? I’m going to be at the park over between seventh avenue and Olive road for a few hours just killing some time if you want to meet up? Hope to hear from or to see you soon!

Varuna liked Adria. He was sweet. He was kind. He seemed a little sad and lonely. She could understand that at least, and she never minded going out on patrols with him, even if they didn’t talk much. She was more of a listener than anything else, although part of that hadn’t really been her choice and was just something she’d adapted to.
So when she got the message from Lysithea, it didn’t come as a surprise.
When she was first told that Lysithea was missing, she went out to help look for her, and she was relieved to hear from Adria that Lysithea had not only been found, but purified back to their side as well.
He gave her a heads up that Lysithea might reach out to her, so at least she knew to expect it.
When he offered her a place in their Court, she’d told him that he might not want her to join, as she’d been alone for so long. But Adria was sweet and convinced her it would be worth the risk.
She arrived at the park not long after the message was received. The aura of an eternal was not difficult to spot, and when she arrived within speaking distance, she nodded her head in greeting.
“Lysithea,” she said quietly. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Looking up, Lysithea broke into a welcoming smile, getting off of the swing and brushing down the back of her skirt for a moment before extending a hand to the senshi. “I love your fuku, you look like a snow fairy from a story book.” The butterfly on her brooch made her think of the ones on her homeworld, and Lysithea had the strangest feeling of longing to go back up there again. Ah.
Soon. She’d visit again soon. But now.
“It’s really nice to meet you too, Adria’s told me so many nice things about you, you…you’re interested in maybe becoming a part of our court? There’s…I was introduced to a senshi, I’m not sure if you’ve met any of those who are from Space? But, he’s one of them and there’s something wrong with his homeworld and I had the idea that maybe…having a court there could help since…you know, courts can do different things and can cure youma of their chaos.” Or so she had been told, she didn’t doubt it though. Not when Evan and Ahri told her the same stories about it.
“I was hoping to get the court together and active again, hanging out and going on patrols, things like that. I…” She swallowed and gave a small, almost awkward smile. “I guess he told you how I ended up getting corrupted almost a year ago. It messed with my memories, so. I have nothing but what I’ve been told and what I feel to go off of but…I know that I want this. I want as many friends and allies that I can find and…Adria is a really good judge of character…and we’d be really happy to have you.”

Varuna couldn’t help but tense when Lysithea immediately smiled and jumped off the swing and held her hand out. She looked at her hand for a moment, and then almost gingerly placed her hand in Lysithea’s in greeting.
Once the handshake was over, Varuna immediately crossed her arms protectively under her chest and took a step backwards for a more comfortable space between them.
“Thank you,” she said, her voice just as quiet as before. She glanced over Lysithea’s outfit, her eyes landing briefly on her tiara. “Unicorns are cool.”
Not that there was much time to exchange compliments. Adria told her nice things about Lysithea as well. Or at least about the two Lysithea’s he knew. The one from before she was corrupted, who was strong and always trying to help people, and how she saved his life and how he admired her. And then the new Lysithea who was still settling in and learning about herself and that he was proud of her for doing her best.
And it was for Adria’s sake that she’d reached out to take Lysithea’s hand in the first place. She trusted that Adria thought highly of Lysithea, but as much as she liked Adria, she couldn’t help but think him to be a little naive and soft. His kind heart would get him in trouble, and there were too many people willing to see it break, or aid in breaking it.
She didn’t want to be one of those people.
“He invited me to the court, yes. I wasn’t aware it was inactive, just that you and another were missing.”
She tilted her head curiously at the Eternal. “Is that important to you? Having a lot of friends?” She took another thoughtfully quiet moment before continuing, “I don’t know much about friendship, but Adria has been kind. I think he's a good friend.”

Lysithea tilted her head for a moment and smiled still, lowering her hand and nodding. “Adria is the very best friend you can have, at least I think so. He. He was my friend when I was still corrupted. I met with him one night, and we talked and…I mean, he was a civilian then, and I had asked him for energy and he asked why I wanted it…but. We kept meeting up after that. He…was the first one who had known me before and wasn’t pushing me. Wasn’t telling me that we were friends, telling me what we lacked…it…”
She swallowed and let out a long breath. “Honestly, if it wasn’t for him doing that. For reaching me when I didn’t think I really could be reached…I’m not sure things would have turned out the same. Friendship is the most important thing to me…those that are in the court…and those that just…live in our house and aren’t in the court…they’re everything to me. I don’t have a real family anymore…but.” Lysithea’s expression clouded for a moment at the thought of Faustite and she quickly shoved the thoughts away. “Unicorns are pretty cool, you’re right about that. As to it being inactive, We haven’t done anything since I’ve been back, but I don’t know if they were doing things while I was gone or not…still, I don’t…think so. But. We’re going to again. I want so badly to help. Chaos…is a very…touchy subject with me…and as much as I want to hate it and everyone contaminated with it…”
With a sigh, Lysithea sat back on the swing and tilted her head at the one next to her in case Varuna wanted to join her. “I want to save them more than I want any sort of revenge. It’s such a canker. And. I don’t know if it’s a memory that…I don’t know. But lately this phrase keeps going through my head that Senshi require allies. Senshi are stronger together. So. I wanted to see about starting to do things with the court. Patrols and…anything else we can do. Just. See who we can help.”

Varuna frowned. Naive. Putting himself in danger. There was no guarantee that the a Corrupted Senshi wouldn’t have just killed him. Her heart ached because she knew how easy it was for Adria to throw himself into danger because he had hope--
She continued to watch Lysithea curiously. She listened to the ways she sighed, the moments she paused to take a breath. She could see the gesture Lysithea made to the other swing, but Varuna was content with standing.
“They--... they were looking for you,” she said after a few moments, her eyebrows knitted slightly together in confusion. “They were looking for Monoceros as well. Does… does that not count for them doing anything? Are you not still looking for Monoceros?”
It was just strange to her, or maybe something was being misunderstood. What would count for being active if not looking for one of the people who’d been taken from them?
“Some people don’t deserve a chance to be saved,” Varuna said with a shake of her head, her heart aching. She hadn’t spent much time around Beau Gallo, but he’d always been polite and kind to her. “Many of those in the Negaverse don’t want to be saved. Not by us.”

Lysithea tilted her head and frowned, working through that. They had been looking for her, and they were...well. Had been looking for Monoceros. That. God she hoped that he was okay. He never resurfaced after leaving again and…honestly, she feared the worst but.
She always hoped for the best.
“I hadn’t…thought of it that way, and when you phrase it like that, I suppose that they are still active but…I…was told that it’s different when the group is all together. I was told that there’s a special place we can go for training or meetings…I…that we have to be together in order to help the youma, as far as I’m aware, the court hasn’t been active as a group since I’ve been gone. We did find Monoceros, and my friend Ilse and I were able to…free him from…something that was really changing him…I’m still not sure what it was but…”
Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Lysithea sighed. “He said he wasn’t ready to come back yet, so he went away and…I just hope that I wasn’t a fool with that. I hope that he’s all right but. Staying was his choice, and I couldn’t…we can’t force them to want to come back. No matter if there’s a part of me that wishes we could, it…is something I do appreciate about the White Moon…we don’t take choices away from people, even if…it would be better for everyone…”
Perhaps that wasn’t the best thing to say, but…she still had a lot of anger built up from what happened. “I know that they don’t want to be saved, and that really…bothers me. And I’m…not good with giving up on people…even when I know that they deserve it. I really do know I just…” She wanted to help everyone that she could. No matter the danger.

Varuna was aware that she didn’t know anything about courts and how they worked. She didn’t know much about people and how they worked either. People had motivations and held grudges and strategized. Animals were different. They just wanted to survive, wanted attention. They weren’t cruel on purpose.
She didn’t know what Lysithea was talking about with Monoceros, except that he’d left and they hadn’t saved him.
“From their perspective, they don’t consider it being saved. Not the ones who don’t want to,” she surmised. The fact that Monoceros wasn’t ready to return after being corrupted was concerning.
“It sounds like you need someone with a different perspective to keep you from rushing in blindly. The Negaverse can be clever. They’ll take advantage of those they know don’t want to give up on them… I know that first hand…”
And he ended up dying because he didn't want to give up...

Lysithea gave a little, almost sad laugh and shrugged. “Yeah…they don’t consider it being saved at all…and…one of my friends, he’s a knight, Mont Saint Michel, he…he does try to hold the rest of us back, but he’s…honestly you might be right about needing someone who just has a different perspective. He’s a little too far on the other side. He doesn’t trust anyone really, especially after losing me…but.”
Sighing, she shrugged again. “Is that you saying that…you might like to meet up again sometime? Because, the utterly optimistic part of me that I’m trying to cultivate again is saying that your words mean that, and if they don’t, please let me know now, okay?” Glancing over to Varuna, Lysithea gave a much warmer smile. “At the very least, I’d love to meet up with you again, and perhaps we could hang out sometimes.”

Varuna kept her distance as they spoke. She didn’t necessarily consider herself skittish, but she was cautious. Lysithea had been corrupted and lost all her memories, or a good amount of them. Lysithea sympathized with the Negaverse, and while there were some who did deserve a chance to escape that life, there were others that would be better off being returned to the cauldron.
If Lysithea and Adira weren’t careful, the Negaverse could add them to their list of murdered Senshi.
Maybe it was Varuna’s pessimism that made her feel the need to meet up with Lysithea again, if only to make sure she was still alive after everything Adria did to try and find her.
But in the end, she nodded, despite not smiling in return. Her voice was still soft as she spoke. There was no emotion other than a little bit of curiosity maybe.
“I promised Adria I would give the Court a chance. And in return he said the Court would give me one. I don’t have many friends. Horses and animals are easier to understand than people. But… yes, if you would like to meet up again, I would as well.”

Animals…well. Lysithea could do that. She brightened and nodded, looking pleased at the idea of meeting up with Varuna again. “Would you want to come visit my homeworld? I have animals up there, the last time I was there, there were these…bunny-like creatures, and I think you’d like them.” She hoped that she would. “We could have a picnic up there if you wanted. Let me know what kinds of foods that you like and I’ll bring us a feast! Malus, one of the court members makes the very best food, and I’m pretty good with baking if you like sweets.”
She didn’t get up, but pulled out her phone again, opening a note and writing it down. “How about..if you’re free Wednesday? Or, just let me know when’s good for you…I’m…I’m really hoping that one day there will be unicorns up there. That’s…definitely my dream.”
Smiling, she looked at Varuna. “What do you say?”

A picnic on another world. It sounded intimidating, but Varuna wasn’t usually one to shy away from a challenge. She just knew she wasn’t very good with social things, and didn’t want to end up in a place that she couldn’t easily escape from.
“Wednesday should be fine,” she agreed. She didn’t have anything else going on. She would just have to make sure Adria didn’t want to meet up then.
“I’m a vegetarian,” she added softly, but otherwise didn’t specify what she liked. It was usually difficult enough for people to decide what to bring without meat, much less be picky about it.
“I would like to see unicorns once you have them. I will see you Wednesday. Meet here, same time?”

Vegetarian…Lysithea could work with that, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue at any rate. “All right, that sounds perfect! I’ll see you Wednesday, Varuna. I’m really excited.” She didn’t get up from the swing again, and only smiled, nodding at the comment about unicorns. “Maybe we’ll get lucky and there will be some up there when we visit! I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Stay safe, okay? See you soon!”
There was a menu to plan, obviously mac and cheese, and maybe a few other things, but…Lysithea would see that it was a feast worthy of Varunas time no matter what.
