It had been a while since Vermina had seen Belrea, and she was pleased to be back. She and her family made regular trips for the sake of the youngest girls born to Azehra. It was good for them to visit their mother tree regularly. The Seiong was on Belrea for the day, taking a trip with a few friends she hadn't seen since their last visit. Vermina did the same, walking with others while the younger crew did their own thing.

The day was wearing on, getting dark... and Vermina was getting concerned. Sure, her daughter might nearly be an adult, but she could still worry. She had expected her daughter back for dinner, assigned to meet at a certain diner, but the meal had grown cold. Surely it was just girls having fun and losing track of time. Surely. That didn't stop her from grabbing a lantern and searching through the town. "Seiong?" She called out, following the main path through the town. She would look for just a little. With any luck, she will have simply missed the group in passing...

Painted Moose via Discord

Ever since her date with Lioe, Aerexa had been branching more into earthling territory. The young Vandrea was conflicted by everything she saw. Part of her was curious and excited by the prospect of new lands while the Aishan in her detested being around the smaller creatures. Just maneuvering around them in a busy street was stressful because she was used to looking up to avoid others and not down.

It was around evening when Aerexa started acknowledging that she might be lost. None of the buildings were familiar and with night coming upon her the Vandrea was…maybe a little worried. Hadn’t she already been down this street before? “I’ll just get directions!” As resolute and assured as she’d been, seeing the shops around her with ‘closed’ signs did little to lift Aerexa’s spirits.

The only bit of light was a literal bit of light and she made her way closer. It was obvious once she got closer that it’s bearer was Aishan, but with the shadows cast by the lamp she couldn’t be sure as to what kind. “I don’t know who Seiong is, but if you have a moment I could use some help. I got a little lost.”

The lantern was held higher and higher with each passing minute. However, it illuminated nothing that she was looking for. Vermina couldn't help how her mind went to how clumsy her daughter could be. The poor thing could trip over her own foot! Surely that little canine thing of hers would be making noise if Seiong had gotten hurt. Still..

She straightened up when she heard a voice. It wasn't her daughter though. She swung the lantern around to shine light on the newcomer. "Lost?" Oh, that was a Vandrea. Shorter than the one she was looking for. "Oh, absolutely." She approached the stranger and smiled kindly. She was worried for her daughter, but this cousin needed help as well, and she would help wherever she could. "Where are you trying to get to, dear?"

“Woah!” Aerexa wasn’t prepared for the lantern to swing and she took a step back with a nervous laugh. “Yeah, just lost, not here to mug you.” There was enough distance between the two for the woman’s features to come in sections as the light drew nearer, but just enough space that if Aerexa needed to bail she could.

“Home. I uh…I came out to poke around for a while and got lost. I’m getting better about moving through here, but the streets start to blur after dark.” Pausing for a bit, she asked, “Who are you looking for?”

She pulled the lantern back with an apologetic smile. "Can't be too careful." She got a better look at the younger woman and nodded. "If you don't mind walking with me just a little bit longer around here.. I'm looking for my daughter. I suspect she's about your age, actually. Seiong. She was out with friends and missed dinner." She gave a nervous smile. "I'm sure I must have passed her on the way here. She's probably already home. I would just.. like a little longer, and then we can go back together."

To push her nerves away, she reached out her hand to the stranger. "My name is Vermina."

“Oh.” Aerexa’s eyes widened. “Well yeah, sure, I’ll help look for your daughter. You said her name was Seiong right? Seems familiar, but I can’t place the face.” It definitely felt as if she’d heard the name before, maybe in passing, maybe from someone she’s spoken with, but an image of the missing girl escaped her. Still, Aerexa didn’t let it bother her for long and she reached out to give a good, hearty handshake. “My name’s Aerexa. You probably know my mother; Stryxx. She’s the huntress in Chiume and Chibale and one day I’m going to surpass her so you might wanna…y’know…remember me.”

She cocked a grin, held up a pair of finger guns and planted her hands on her hips to look around. “Okay so what are some of her favorite places to go? Maybe she went there with her friends and lost track of time?”

Vermina nodded lightly. "Seiong was born to Azehra, but we moved to Chibale when she and her sister were younglings. We come back regularly to visit." She took in the names and cocked her head before nodding slowly, a smirk rising with the girl's confident statement. "Aerexa. I will indeed keep that in mind. I do know of Stryxx, but I can't say we've met more than in passing."

She pursed her lips to give consideration to Aerexa's question. "Seiong likes animals. She has a little duruf that follows her everywhere. There are a couple stables here, and I have only checked one of them. Perhaps that should be our next stop."

Moose

Chibale, huh? She couldn’t understand why anyone would want to go back when all the best Aishans had come here but to each their own, right? It was dumb but whatever. “If she has a duruf then you should check by the park. Its’ a big area where earthlings let their kids run around and there’s a section for those little things.” She’d seen it in passing a few times and always thought it was weird. Was it common for earthlings to corral their kids in special spots like their pets?

“We can start with the stable first if you wanted, though; I don’t mind the walk so long as I get home sometime. Mama knows I’m tough so she won’t be too worried.”

"The park?" Vermina cocked her head slightly. "I have not heard of that before." A memory of watching an earthling child come into the world sent a rough tremble along her back. Yuck. "Huh. I suppose that makes a little sense. I know there were times I would have liked to have had my girls limited to one area. Not all the time, of course. I have no desire to restrain them that much." She pondered a moment and shook her head. "It depends on if she's still with her friends or not. I think the stable is close by, but if you know this park thing is closer, we can try that first." She gestured out with the lantern for Aerexa to lead the way. "I have no doubt about your toughness, but I hate to keep a fellow mother waiting. We'll just look a little more, and then I'll get you home."

“It just seems stupid to me. If your kid wants to run just let them! If they’re tough, they’ll survive and if they’re smart, they’ll come back. If they don’t…well…sorry I guess.” Aerexa shrugged. What was the use in fussing over a kid that much? They had so much energy anyway so it seemed smarter just to let them run it off, but she’d seen so many parents trying to corral them into one area. Seriously, what was up with that?

“It’s just up a few blocks so it won’t take long.” She motioned with a hand gesture and started to walk. The teen may have been shorter compared to most Aishans, but she was muscular and walked with the confidence of a Vandrea twice her size. “So, if you came here to have your daughters, how come you didn’t stay? “

She couldn't help staring at the youth a moment before she laughed. It was difficult to explain to someone without children, and who was certainly still young herself. "If you become a mother some day, you will understand then. There are many nuances that come with the job. Many things that no amount of advice could prepare you for."

She called out for her daughter a couple times as they walked, but got nothing in return. "Well, it is not as though we came with the specific intention of having daughters here. My wife came to assist with Azehra when she was still young and lacking a mystic. I came along and we brought our daughters that came from Aisha. We prayed, but I wasn't sure it would actually happen." Her smile grew. "Then Seiong and Odina bloomed, and. we stayed until they were a little older. My wife was needed back at Aisha's side eventually though."

“Oh, I’m GOING to be a mother one day! As a Vandrea it’s my duty to make sure Azehra is protect and the best way to do that is by having a daughter to do it! Just like my mother did.” She was so full of conviction and purpose. As much as she didn’t understand children now there was no doubt in Aerexa’s mind that she would have a few later. Even if she had to go to Azehra herself, like her mother had done.

When Vermina started calling out for her daughter so did Aerexa. “SEEEEIIIIOOONNNGGGG! WHERE ARE YOU?” The sooner they found the girl the sooner they could head back. She as ready to call out again when the older Aishan started to talk. “Lacking a….waaaaiiiiitttt a tic. Is your wife….wait, what’s her name? Daiyura? Daisa?...DANIKA. That’s it!” Aerexa clapped her hands and grinned.

Vermina chuckled deeply. She couldn't help it. It was a joy to see youths so excited to carry on the legacy of the Aishans. "I am glad to hear it. I am certain any daughters you have will be strong and capable." Children often surpassed their parents, as they should. Any daughters of this young woman would certainly flourish.

A smirk rose when the other started yelling, but she appreciated the gesture. The girl had much to learn, but she seemed willing and eager. She would make a fine warrior indeed. Compared to Seiong.... well, they were quite opposite in traits.

"Yes, Danika." Vermina's expression once again warmed with the deep love and affection she felt for her family. "As I said, we come back often to give our daughters the chance to see their mother tree."

“If your wife’s Danika then you should be visiting more trees than Azehra.” Aerexa was really onto something here, she could feel it. “You should go to all of them and have as many daughters as you can. I’m sure you’re strong and if you mix that with a Mystic then your daughters could really help the tribes!”

Aerexa stopped for a second to cluck her tongue and toss a smirk back Vermina’s way. “I mean, they’ll never be as strong as me, but a strong bloodline wouldn’t hurt, right? But yeah, have you ever been to see the other….two trees? Elzira and…the other one?”

Vermina laughed with delight. At the very least, this conversation was keeping her from thinking the worst about where Seiong might be. "As a matter of fact, we did see Elzira." Her expression sobered a little bit. Yael.. was not a fond place to think about for her. "She did not bless us with daughters, but perhaps next time. I would not turn away the chance. We have not seen Esena in Kiros yet. When we were traveling, they had yet to open the tree to visitors." It amazed her how the seeds all came from one line but resulted in such differing daughters. The basics were the same, but there was little chance of confusing any of the races.

"They are all wonderful young women contributing their traits to the families. Not to brag, but I do believe that at least Odina could offer you a challenge." She smirked playfully. Faenna and Briallen could hold their own, but Seiong would be likely crushed by this eager youth.
