Gabby had been looking up different offerings at DCU, and while it was too late to apply for this upcoming term, she could start working on an application for the Spring term next year…but. The big issue was that she had absolutely no idea what she wanted to study. When she thought about it in the context of needing a job…well, she didn’t really need a job. She was set for life, and if she had any children, they would be set, and their children's children would be as well but…the idea of just lazing around forever was…
Kind of boring, to be honest.
Flopping backwards on her bed, Gabby sighed and drew out her phone, dialing Jolene’s number. The girl had an idea of what she wanted to do, so obviously she might have advice for Gabby too. Or, at least that was the hope.
When she heard the happy hello from her friend, Gabby burst out into a song that was only slightly off key.
“Jolene, Jolene, Jolene…JOLENEEEEEEE~ Help me figure out what I want to study in school because I have absolutely no idea what I want to do with my life. How did you decide to study…what was it, fashion merchandising? Explain your thoughts, my dear, sweet friend~”
If she got hung up on...she knew she deserved it, but honestly. She had the song on repeat for several hours after meeting the girl so...she kind of deserved it. A little.

It was always nice to get a call from a friend, and so as soon as her phone rang with Gabby's number, Jolene answered with a cheery "hello!"
Being serenaded first thing made her laugh, and she rolled her eyes, flopping back onto her bed and staring up at the ceiling.
"You are ridiculous," she said, fondly. But the question was sort of important, and there was a moment of silence as Jolene considered her answer.
"Honestly, I've always liked clothes, and I don't really have the mind to design them myself, but I think I know a thing or two about social media and marketing, and I think I could get even better at it, you know? And, um."
She took a breath. Let it out.
"I am going to need you to not judge me for the rest of this answer. We are friends and I want to ensure that this conversation is a judgement-free zone."

“I mean, if there’s judgement, it’ll be the friendly kind which will make me sing your name when I call, but I promise it won’t be malicious, but I do like to tease, it’s just in my blood, Jojo.” Gabby looked up at her ceiling, her face growing hot as the blood continued to pool to her head. “But, what’s up? I can’t find anything bad in the whole wanting to advertise clothes. I mean…we live our whole lives in them so they’re pretty damn important.”
Did she seem like someone who would judge? Now the very thought made her kind of uncomfortable, and with a grunting sound, she pulled herself back onto the bed, sighing and laying back against her pillows.
“Judgement free zone is now activated, I’ve stopped hanging off of the edge of my bed and am laying down, listening with eager earnestness. Lay it on me.”

Jolene sighed, heavily. "It's not that there's something bad about what I want to do, just that my reason for doing it is sort of...ah..."
Ridiculous. Incredibly gay. Really made her understand some of the "U-Haul lesbian" memes that she had seen online from older queers, but at the same time--she and Ciel had a sort of bond that came from the kinds of things they'd seen and endured, so there was that.
"Okay, look. One of the things that sealed my decision was that my girlfriend's family runs a clothing company, and I was thinking that we'd be able to work together once I graduated. Which I realize probably sounds ridiculous." She sighed, heavily. "But if I may, knowing what--or who--you are passionate about is a really good way to decide what you want to do!"

Gabby snorted and shook her head, feeling…terribly jealous, rather than judgemental. But…hey, people deserved happiness!
“Why would I ever judge you for that? If I had a girlfriend who had a family who had a business, I think I’d end up doing the same, I mean, well, maybe not. I’m all sunshine and rainbows but the idea of advertising is just…and, no offense, Jojo, seriously! I’m not trying to talk bad about your decisions, I just, it all seems so fake to me, and it’s just a way to get people to buy things they don’t need.”
She fell quiet for a moment and gave a long suffering sigh. “...Like an island, for example.” Gabby sighed again, though this time it was wistful. “Tell me, Jo, where can I find myself a girl who will make me want to get a whole career to be with her? Like…I thought I had found my…the one but…now we haven’t talked in ages and I just…damnit. I want to hold hands and cuddle and kiss and just…have someone to be proud of, you know?”
After a moment, Gabby huffed. “...Okay so I’m taking it back, I am judging you for changing the topic of conversation from my school ideas to girlfriends!”

Jolene sighed, heavily. At least Gabby didn't think she was an idiot for it, which was something of a relief. She certainly didn't think so, and admittedly, before she met Ciel, she'd sort of had...vague ideas for what she wanted to do, but her parents certainly wouldn't have allowed her to just write romance novels for the rest of her life.
...Maybe she still could. On the side. As a hobby.
"Oh, no, that's exactly what advertising is, isn't it? I mean, no one really needs some $300 dress, or what have you, but the idea is to make people want it." She shrugged. "Cynical, maybe, but that's the way of things."
And, anyway, if her job was terrible, at least she was doing good as Caer Sidi, so that probably equaled out.
She sighed, quietly. Her method of finding a girl was not exactly going to work for Gabby, probably, since it was "meet the perfect woman when she saves you from a monster right when you become a magical girl".
"This girl you thought was the one...is there a reason you haven't seen her? Because I think that if she's worth it, she would be going out of her way to find you. Because you are spectacular, Gabby, and you deserve a girl who wants you."

“We just lost touch a while ago, and I don’t know…she’s really pretty though. Her hair reminds me of when you’re out in the middle of the ocean, it’s that really beautiful, deep blue…ugh. And her eyes. They’re like pure silver. Jo…I really wanna see her again…ugh. This is dumb.”
Giving a long sigh, Gabby ran a hand down her face and shook her head. “Enough about girls. I’m going to find a pretty one and just kiss her until we both can’t breathe. That’s the best choice in this situation. And if I find my sweet little one again, well then. I’ll figure things out when I get there. But for now, I’m just going to lock lips with the next pretty girl I lay eyes on. Is that…bad. Do you think I’m just horny? Oh my god, I’m just horny. Ask your girlfriend if you can make out with me for a little while, yeah? Or, let me know if I can make out with her for a little while. Are you interested in a third from time to time?”
She went quiet for a moment and then snorted. “If you’re offended, I’m just joking, I promise. But if you’re not offended, yeah I think I mean it. I want pretty girls to like me. I know I’m amazing.”
This conversation had gone in such a wild turn, she wasn’t sure how to get it back on track, and honestly…what was the point, really.

The way that Gabby described the girl she liked made Jolene sigh, fondly. It was so sweet, and so romantic--honestly, it sounded wonderful.
"It sounds like you really like her," she said, and she rolled over onto her stomach, kicking her feet up behind her. "So I think you should try and find her again, if you can. It'd probably be worth it."
The offer, however, made her go dark red, and she shook her head, fiercely, even though she knew Gabby couldn't see. "I mean--I'd have to--I don't know if Ciel would be okay with that--I--you're very pretty but--"
She buried her face in her free hand.
"Gabby, please."

“Ah, so you don’t hate the idea! That’s good then! Talk to your Ciel, see if she’d mind a third sometimes, I’ll kiss you both, and I’m sure I’ll love it~” Gabby cackled and shook her own head, positively delighted by how this conversation had gotten out of control, and honestly? She would do this again a hundred times if she could.
“Jojo, you are one of the most delightful people I think I’ve ever met, and I’m so glad you were riding Dolly the other day. But! I can hear that you’re flustered, and honestly, that delights me, but since I am such a kind and wonderful person, I’m going to let you go! Think on my questions about school, and if you think of anything I might want to study, let me know, and I’ll call you soon.”
Gabby let herself fall silent for a moment and then grinned. “But, really. Ask your girlfriend. I hope to make you with you both before too long! See you!”
And she hung up the phone, laughing loudly and rolling until she fell off the bed, in a better mood than she had been in ages.
