Wavellite did want to advance, but she had to admit to herself that her team was kind of defunct. One of these days she would tell Ashanite that she was just going to transfer to be under Bellite since he…didn’t seem to be doing much but…that day wasn’t today.
No, Today she seemed to be facing off against a pretty little Squire who wore a pretty little dress.
She held what seemed to be a pretty little shield, and as Wavellite paced back and forth like a prowling animal, she summoned her own sword, eyes glinting. “What do you say, Princess? Shall we see who’s better? You with your fancy holier than thou everything, with your dainty shield and pretty dress…or someone with actual skill who has an actual weapon.”
Licking her lips, Wavellite gave a rather feral smile, and honestly, she was quite sure that Ashanite would have been proud of it, or at least a little impressed. He did have flair to him, that much was sure.
“How about we make a deal, you can give up, and I’ll take your energy and your starseed and leave your pretty little face alone, or we fight, and I run you through and then take your energy and starseed while you bleed out. Your pick, honey.”

Caer Sidi narrowed her eyes at the Captian in front of her. She was fairly certain this woman was familiar--she thought, truthfully, that this might be someone who was at that awful battle right after she became a Squire, but there had been so much going on that she wasn't entirely sure.
Still, she was an officer. And she clearly had some kind of...awful agenda, if she was opening by making threats. Exactly the type of person that it was Caer Sidi's job to stop. She crossed her arms, squared her shoulders, and wrapped the chain of her suncatcher tight in her fingers, gripping it until the metal dug into her hand.
"You will not have my starseed today, you...foul little monster," she said, voice sharp, with all the imperiousness she could muster. It was very much an affected sort of persona, but Caer Sidi kind of enjoyed affecting it.
"Come on. Fight me. We'll see if you can even do the damage that you hink you can."
After all, her magic was the best shield she could ask for--she just had to rely on her own reaction time. And so, with a thought, she called it up, letting its soft glow cover her.Quote: Caer Sidi holds up her suncatcher, and she and allies within 8 feet of her are surrounded by shimmering starlight shields. For as long as she is channeling, anyone affected by her magic is protected from incoming physical damage, and magical damage caused by those her rank or lower; it will simply glance off the starlight shield. Damage from magic cast by those higher rank than her will have reduced damage, but can still break through. Caer Sidi can channel for up to 35 seconds at Squire stage.

Wavellite laughed, the sound rather cruel as the Squire went to hide behind her magic without even giving her a chance, well. Magic always faded in time and…
She paused, tilting her head as she really looked at the Squire. “...Haven’t we met before…” Shifting her hold on her sword, Wavellite blinked and then laughed once again. “You’re the one that Ashanite was after! The one that caused that whole kerfuffle a while ago, weren’t you? God damn, if I hadn’t been distracted by a stupidd little seal, I would have skewered you back then! What luck!”
And here she was, thinking of leaving Ashanite. What kind of a subordinate was she?
A far better one than he could ask for, that was what.
“I’ll bring him your starseed as a gift, or maybe bring it with your body too, he seemed so eager to corrupt you, so why not give him the chance, hm?”
She had talked enough, she thought. Talked enough so that the magic hopefully would be starting to run out.
And then, Wavellite teleported behind the Squire and began bashing at the shield with all of the strength she could muster, using the flat of her balde, laughing once again.

Ah. So she was exactly the person that Caer Sidi thought she was. The gremlin in green from the battle in the park. The one who had put all that effort into popping the protection Hyperborea cast on her.
"You certainly aren't skewering me now," Caer Sidi said, and she took several steps back, narrowing her eyes. "And I won't let you or him get your filthy, corrupt hands on my starseed."
All this nonsense was making her magic run out--she couldn't chat and shield herself forever. She'd have to find an escape route, as quickly as possible, and get going before things got too much worse. But there wasn't anything apparent--
And then the Captain teleported, and she yelped, spinning around just in time for the flat of the sword to whack her in the shoulder. At least the last, wavering bits of her magic protected her, and she lashed out with a sharp kick.
"Go away! Go crawl back to whatever dark hole you monsters come out of!"
Her magic died, and she brought her suncatcher around, swinging it like she might swing a real shield as a weapon.

Wavellite only laughed again, seeming delighted by the fact that the Squire was growing flustered, and when the magic broke, her smile only grew. “Knew you couldn’t keep that up for long. You see, obviously you underestimated me. I have a senshi for a girlfriend and I know very well that magic has limits. Isn’t that sad. But, you know what doesn’t have limits?”
She teleported again, and…well. That did have limits and she pretty much reached them with this, but she thrust her sword forward, and stiffened slightly when she felt it penetrate through…well. It was Caer Sidi’s shoulder.
For a moment, Wavellite’s smile remained, but it slowly faded as horror began to creep into her expression, just as the blood began to creep down the Squire’s back, staining her pretty dress a dark red.
With a confused noise, she pulled the sword out of the wound and took a step back, eyes flickering to the blood that now ran down her blade she…
…All of her talk had just been talk she hadn’t…actually wanted to skewer her but…
For a moment, the world seemed to spin, and the Captain grew pale, and without worrying about how much it would suck to deal with the consequences, she teleported once more, this time landing in the middle of Bellite’s thankfully empty office.
She had just enough energy to grab hold of the small trash can that sat next to her desk before she was losing everything in her stomach into it, and then the darkness claimed her and for a while, she knew no more.

Caer Sidi really was doing her best to defend herself. But there was only so much she could do against someone who could break the laws of time and space and disappear from in front of her to appear behind her. The blade sank into her shoulder, and she cried out in pain, staggering forward and away.
"My magic might not last forever, but--" she started, a cocky challenge that was much braver than she felt, but--
The officer was gone, and she was left alone. Alone and bleeding, and...and she really needed to get herself to the hospital so that she could get checked.
Augh, this sucked. But at least she was alive.
