Lazurite had decided that she just…didn’t like Squires. Mr. Mars had completely ruined her on the whole species…or…whatever, and so now, when she felt one nearby, she grew tense and rather irritable, her hands clenching into fists at her sides.
If it was him again…well. This would just be the night that she made sure to take him out of the picture for good…and if it wasn’t…
She’d just take whoever it was out of the picture instead, and do it on his account.
The thought almost made her laugh out loud, and she made her way towards the aura, pausing when she turned and the Squire entered her line of sight and…
Oh, it wasn’t Mr. Mars…it was a very pretty girl instead, and for a moment, Lazurite paused, swallowing and blinking rather stupidly.
It wasn’t her fault that sometimes pretty girls caused her to just…shut down but…but it wasn’t a great thing to have happen either.
Instead of a smooth one liner, or a great, thought out threat, or even instead of a friendly greeting, the only thing that came out of Lazurite’s mouth was. “...s**t, you’re hot.”

Caer Sidi had not, she would say, had the best of experiences with Negaverse Senshi. There was Adonis, who utterly infuriate her, and that purple-haired woman who had threatened to kill her just because she wasn't sufficiently nice in response to being asked to donate her energy to the Negaverse.
Ugh.
But this one--this was different. Caer Sidi was not. Expecting. To be greeted with a compliment.
Her cheeks turned red.
"I have a girlfriend," she said, a little defensively--though only so much. "So, ah, that's. Flattering, but. Sorry. You also look very nice."

Lazurite paused and her cheeks grew hot from embarrassment. “Oh! I…s**t, look it just slipped out of my mouth. Not that it isn’t the truth, you are hot. But. I didn’t mean to just. s**t. Okay. Wow let’s start over. Also, tell your girlfriend that she’s hella lucky and let me be the one to say if she ever makes you cry I’ll kick her in the boobs but.”
Waving a hand, Lazurite forced a grin, pleased with the return compliment. “I…have a girl that I really like. But I haven’t seen her in over a year and I’m pretty sure that’s…a sign or something that she’s really not into me or something but.”
But honestly, Iduna not being interested in her was a better thought than Iduna being dead or eaten by the damn tree on her homeworld again…
Still.
“Ah. I’m Lazurite. Senshi of Nectar.”

Caeri Sidi coughed. Well, this was better than it had been, and if they could chat about their respective girlfriends, at least she would be distracting this Corrupt from doing anything weird or nefarious.
"Thanks," she said. "I'm...not really worried about her hurting me. She's very sweet, and she helped me figure out what it meant to be a Knight. But that's sweet of you."
Probably, Caer Sidi guessed. Threats to protect her from harm probably counted as sweet, one way or the other.
"I'm sorry about the girl you like, though. I'd be miserable if I hadn't seen Hype in that long." She flashed a polite smile. "I'm Caer Sidi, Squire of Cosmos. It's lovely to meet you, Lazurite."

“Well, I’m glad that she’s good but still. If anything ever happens, I’ve got your back, Caer Sidi.” Lazurite felt pleased to be able to threaten someone, she needed more friends in real life that she could threaten relationships with. It made her feel quite powerful.
She was quiet for a moment and her smile faded slightly, though Lazurite shrugged. “If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. If not, I’ll find someone else…but, tell me. What does it mean to be a Knight? I haven’t…met many but…the ones that I have…I’m not really a fan of. There’s this one guy, and he’s an absolute a**...but. He’s not of Cosmos, he’s of Mars, and that’s all he’s told me about himself but…I hate him and like.”
Lazurite huffed. “He’s just. An a*****e who deserves whatever he gets out of this life. So long as it’s bad.”

"I appreciate that," Caer Sidi said, and she laughed, a little. What an odd potential friendship--but maybe this was the right thing to do? Be friendly and kind, and maybe she would move the needle with someone.
She...should have been nicer, to that other Senshi, she realized. The girl had just asked her for help, and she'd lost her temper. But it hadn't been some stranger's fault that Adonis had twice bullied her into giving up her energy to protect innocent civilians.
Ugh, being a Knight was hard.
The question made her blink, and she cracked a small smile.
"I think being a Knight can mean very different things to different people, but for me...it means...protecting the innocent. Making sure that people aren't hurt. I..." She held up her hand, with its oathmark. "I even swore an oath, to protect those weaker than me, and never let harm come to them as long as I was able to prevent it."

Lazurite’s eyes lingered on the mark, frowning at it after a moment. “...That…I mean. Was that really…a smart thing to do?” Again, her mouth was running away with her but…truthfully, it seemed…kind of foolish. “What happens if it’s your girlfriend who’s attacking…I don’t know…a corrupted senshi who’s just a newbie…would you get in the way and protect the snehis, or help your girlfriend? And what if you end up dying because you try to prevent something, and, I’m not trying to be rude here, I’m not I just…I guess I’m selfish but…we think we can prevent anything and everything, we have magic, you know? It’s…just how our brains work, at least mine. But…if you die...doesn’t that prevent you from protecting others? I don’t know why you had to swear anything…that…”
She wrinkled her nose and shrugged, glancing away. “...Seems…a bit much and I don’t know. You could have done the action without swearing it. Don’t you think? Doesn’t this just…”
No, it wasn’t her business. But. It seemed that it was just something to grab attention, and that…
Kind of disgusted her, if she was going to be honest with herself.
…Stupid Knights.

Caer Sidi blinked. She wasn't expecting to be so directly challenged, like this--and it took her aback. She looked down at the mark on her hand, and frowned, a little.
"If people on my own side want to target those weaker than them, that's still wrong," she said. Even if it was Hyperborea...she liked to think that she would be able to stand up to her girlfriend in such a situation. "And anyway, I swore it because it was important to me. Because I want to be held accountable, and because....because I don't always live up to all my own ideals, but I want to live up to them. And, so, with my Wonder holding me accountable for it, I have to...be better, you know?"
She scuffed one of her pretty heels against the ground.
"It'd be easy, a lot of the time, to run away. Or do the safe thing. But...I want to do the right thing."

“But…” Lazurite scowled and looked as though she were trying to figure out how to really say what was on her mind and finally just shrugged. “Does it make it the right thing if you’re forced into it? It just. I don’t know. It’s not something that I would do, and it seems like a really easy way to get taken advantage of, but if that’s what makes you feel honorable or…whatever.”
…Well. It was her funeral.
All that Oath nonsense was…was a weakness. And one that Lazurite was going to put in a note, just in case.
“I’ll…let you go, I suppose. You just. Keep protecting weaker people and I hope it doesn’t get you killed.” Lazurite gave a little nod and took a step forwards, vanishing into the night, almost eager to write her database entry. Jet would be happy for this information…or at least. She hoped he would.
