Syaaryn 1
It was a bright sunny Matorian day and he was down by the riverside, prospecting for plants that might have some curative abilities, it was one of the many areas of botany he was interested in, and being a practical man, he had brought along a fishing rod and lures, because botany was hungry work, yes it was. He roamed the riverside, zigzaging back and forth looking for forbs and moss. Plants that lived by water had to deal with both flood and drought and it always fascinated him how flexible they were. If he tried that he would look like a raisin in no time. Syaa smiled and boosted the plants around him that he was taking cuttings from with his magic. He loved that he could do that, it made him feel more in tune with nature and his surroundings.

She had been walking down a pathway on her way to her family's ranch. She was only and hour or so away from it. However, along the way she'd run into a bit of trouble. Apparently bandits had taken a liking to that stretch of road. Kina wasn't about to hand over anything of hers but since she lacked her spear she couldn't do much fighting. So she decided to run.
That led to her weaving through trees trying to loose the bandit pair. Of course she had to run with the hem of her skirt in her hand. It was too long to run through the underbrush without holding it. As they cat called her from behind she continue to run, trying to remember the layout of the land. When she noticed a small cliff (maybe four feet down) that dropped off into a river she grabbed a tree and tried to redirect her trajectory. The bandit closest to her noticed as well but grabbed onto Kina and toppled the pair of them into the water.

His head came up from examining the minute detail on a tiny leaf as a frackus erupted upstream. There was an almighty splash and a struggle and well there went his concentration for the next half hour at least. He stood to his not unimpressive full height, a gift from his lovely alkidike Mother Samyin. His parents were still together, living their best life and he went home to visit occassionally. Oh! It looked like a woman trying to escape from a thug. He could actually help with this, could save her and maybe kick the mans butt. He waded in and tossed the thug away before reaching down and helping the lady up.
"Are you okay? Its okay, he is floating down river now, I think the fall sorta knocked him out." Syaa didn't give a lick about the man, she was his concern.

The initial plunge had taken her breath away, the water being cold. When she and the bandit surfaced he'd had a hold of her but she was too busy coughing to do anything. So she missed them being yanked away and tossed. As she got her footing she heard someone ask if she was okay and she shook her head slightly.
Another small coughing fit and she moved her hair back. It wasn't put up so it clung to her in its wetness. Kina used her other hand to grab onto the arm that helped her so she didn't slip. When she looked at the person she had to stop for a second then tilt her head back slightly. She was too cold and wet to be snarky but she did blink a few times before shivering.

The poor girl was shivery and tiny and quite soggy. When she flipped her hair back he recognized her, but she had obviously been in a bad situation and if there was one thing his father had instilled in him it was you help a woman when she needs it. She was so small and delicate and she had shaken her head and was currently clinging to his arm. "Okay, okay we will get you through this, hold on." He scooped her from the river gently as possible and set her on a driftwood log by the river bank, he took his shirt off and placed it around her shoulders to help warm her up and started a fire on the sand to increase the heat. Water sapped body heat like nothing else. She was still beautiful even soaking wet. And his heart pulled from her. He looked downstream and could see no sign of her attacker, hopefully the water would flush him down stream far enough that he would be quite lost. How dare he do this to a woman.
"I am so sorry, I think the river took care of him after I threw him, he won't be back." If he was he was going to get an alk sized fist right to the face then be tossed right back in the river again.
"Is there somewhere I can take you? Home? Food? Anything?'

She wanted to reply with something sarcastic but the second she opened her mouth he picked her up, so instead of words he got a squeak. Nykinae didn't like when people picked her up like that because she always felt they would drop her. So she clung to him in a small panic, looking at him with wide eyes. When she was set down it took her a second to let go.
Of course she had to blush a bit when he stripped his shirt right there. While shirtless men were common it was different when they removed their shirts in front of her. So Kina turned her head , her arms wrapping around herself. She seemed to settle a bit easier once she realized the shirt was to help her get warm and she said nothing as he went about his tasks. Until he questioned her. "I was headed home before I ran into them.."
The second bandit had seen his friend tossed and decided he didn't want the same fate so he stayed on his side of the river and went down stream to find his buddy.

He felt very bad for her, he had not wanted to make her walk out of the river in case in her state she slipped. It would be just his luck for her to hurt herself and it was easier with his longer legs with the jaunty flow of the river, it had recently rained and it was a little higher than normal for this time of year.
Syaa watched the second man who presumably had been with the first trail down stream on the other side. He growled a little in his chest. They better not regroup and come back, he wouldn't be as gentle the next time. Yes this lady was a little sassy, but it broke his heart to see her spirit subdued by those clods of manure.
Syaa put a small pot on the fire to make her some herbal tea that would hopefully calm her nerves a bit. "I'll escort you home when you are ready. They likely won't be back, if they do come they will not like my second reception."
He handed her a cup of the tea.
"Do you have any scrapes? I have a salve that will help the pain and take away the chance of infection."

She watched him closely and had to wonder why it was that each time she'd met this man so far it hadn't been in the best circumstances. She tilted her head when he growled but said nothing. Instead she only took the cup from him as he said he'd escort her home.
That would be interesting. Her walking home with a guy in tow. Her family would be shocked. Kina never brought anyone home. "The boys would faint.." She lifted the cup and blew on it, avoiding looking at him for a moment.
The question about her having scrapes finally brought the sass back. "Funny, you didn't seem concerned about scrapes when you threw me into a tree." She went from looking at her tea to looking up at him. "You like throwing people?" A half smirk could be seen then.

"Its good to be unpredictable around your family, that way they never sequester you into a very boring box of assumptions." He smiled at her. Taking some of the tea himself he sipped and sighed. It wasn't the best tasting stuff but it was quite effective at calming nerves. Of course he also had a tea or two that did the opposite and prepared one for battle. He used those as situations called for it.
He smiled at her and waited to speak. "I never would have thrown you if you hadn't implied that I belong on my knees. Respect is a precious thing. What you didn't know is that I waited nearby to make sure you got out of it okay."
Yes he could be rash sometimes, but he was better than what she had implied.
He took out the jar of salve and handed it to her. "One of my better recipies."

She thought about that. Being unpredictable around her family would likely make them think she was sick. Still, the thought was semi amusing. When he stated he wouldn't have thrown her had she not said what she did she licked her lips and blew on her tea again before muttering. "You look good on your knees though." She quickly brought her cup up and took a sip, once again avoiding any eye contact with him.
At that moment a shiver ran through her and she huddled a bit more into his shirt. With a look of surprise she reached out with one hand to take the salve from him, turning it over in her hand. "Thank you.."
Kina sat for a moment thinking about it before she pulled both of her arms in closer, trying to keep the shivering to a minimum. A few glances at her savior and then she cleared her throat. "Uhm.. my ankle hurts a little bit. Might make it hard to walk." Her ankle was fine but he didn't need to know that.

He smirked a little bit at that. "You look good wet." He muttered quietly back. His mother might have smacked him, but his Dad would have laughed. He downed his tea and put the pot back on the fire. It looked like she would need a bit more warm liquid in her. He wished he had a blanket but that was back at his little hut. At least she took the salve.
"Let me see." He gently took her ankle in his hand and felt for swelling or warm areas. "It might be just a strain but I will support you as you walk just in case." Ankle injuries were uncomfortable and quite inconvinient for the person. "Maybe soaking it would help? Though it would just make you more cold." He pursed his lips. "Probably best to take you home as soon as possible. You will be more comfortable there."

His comment made her choke on her drink. Kina coughed slightly and had to use her other hand to wipe a bit of tea off her face. Once that was done she looked at him, blinking a few times and squinting her eyes at him. She was debating on whether or not she wanted to ask. But then a thought occurred to her and she glanced down at herself. Cold water and thin clothes did not mix well. Her face heated up and she moved so that her chest was covered more by the borrowed shirt.
Thankfully she was distracted when he came over to look at her ankle. There would be no swelling or anything and she simply watched him as he inspected it. As he suggested supporting her weight she smiled and looked off to the side. "Or you could carry me." She brought her cup up again to take another drink.

"It would be easier that way yes," she had felt like she hadn't much liked it the last two times he had done it. Then again with their height difference he would be supporting her on a hip anyway because she would have a rough time reaching his shoulder for support with their great height difference. "Yes carrying you is probably best. Whenever you are ready." He would extinguish the fire when they were ready to leave, at least she would have his body heat and the sun to help keep her warm.
He remembered what she had looked like right when she had pushed that curtain of dark teal hair out of her face. She had been so beautiful. It was a striking color, present but rare in the Matorian population. "Your hair is a very striking color."

Well he agreed to that pretty easy. She tilted her head again as she watched him. While she did agree it would be easier, if she actually had an injured ankle, she wondered if he planned to toss her into a tree again. Kina had stated he looked good on his knees. But he seemed sincere as he said it.
The compliment to her hair had her putting the jar of salve in her lap so she could reach up and smooth down her wet hair a bit. She must look like a drowned rat. "Oh.. it usually looks better." Kina herself usually looked better but falling into a river wasn't helpful to ones appearance. "I like your hair color though. Its different." It was certainly eye catching.

"Thank you." He had inherited his hair from his Father, his Mother's was a deep black and in dreadlocks like his. "I got it from my Dad." He gave her more tea then prepared to leave the area. He put out the fire and scuffed the area over with sand and packed up his supplies.
He stood by her. "I'm going to pick you up now, I will try my best not to jar your ankle. She was very small to him, then again so was his Dad.
