That how Ryan managed to pull up to see Eli jogging down the street. He frowned getting out of his car and giving Eli a quick call, only for the phone to ring and ring and ring before going to voicemail. Ryan sighed and resigned himself to catching up to his cousin, not that he was really dressed for running … hell … when did his cousin start running?!?
He sighed again and took off in the direction his cousin was running.
It was rare whenever Eli had the house to himself. Today was a late night for Lily and Collin was at Ryan and Dmitrys for the zoo. This was the perfect time to get some new recruits into the fold. That and maybe time to take some more starseeds. He was sure he could find some civilians willing to part with the valuable resource and maybe even some senshi as well.
Who knows, the night is very young.
Eli promptly made his way to the back of the building, jogging away. He did not even think about his cousin coming for a visit, taking off into the nearby forest.
Ryan wasn’t terribly surprised he was having to really work to catch his cousin. The man was much taller than him and those long legs carried him effortlessly or so it seemed. When he took off into a nearby forest Ryan exasperated. ‘You have got to be kidding me!?!”
At that point he tried calling out to his cousin, not sure he was going to catch him. “Eli, dude, slow down! Where are you even going?” He wasn't sure he was close enough for him cousin to hear him and he was tempted to simply turn back and hope his cousin jog was a short one, but he didn’t want Colin crying any longer than necessary and Dmitry was moody today.
The taller man stiffened, eyes wide. "I uhhhh…" he wasn't sure if he should be saying anything. If he did, didn't that mean he would have to have his cousin recruited?
Dmitry would be pissed….
"What are you doing out here? How come you're not at home?" Yep, answer the question with another one. Great deflection Eli, you really got him there, he's totally not going to question you or be the sassy man you know and give you some sort of a*****e answer or be wayyy more nosey.
Ryan watched him stiffen looking like a deer in the headlights and Ryan frowned deeply. “Really Eli? I think its pretty obvious why I’m in the middle of the woods … but you on the other hand and you look like I caught you with your hand in the cookie jar.”
Ryan crossed his arms over his chest, hip cocked to the side waiting expectantly for an answer. “Since when do you like late night jogs anyway? This better not be why you're ditching the aquarium?”
Eli sighed, eyes rolling up towards the sky.
"Look, I have some important things to do that I can't talk about." Was it a good answer? No. But it's not like he could actually TELL his cousin that he was a crazed murdering magic wielder. That wouldn't go over very well. "I jog in any given direction at night. Lily is aware, so there's no secret being kept." With that said, he started to turn around, sighing at the fact that he would have to call the little s**t to come "watch" him he supposed.
Ugh….
He was a grown a** man, having a ******** kid accompany him because he was "new" was annoying as hell.
Ryan raised a brow at his cousin, not liking where this was going. “Seriously Eli … you know what … I don’t even care. It's whatever. Don’t walk away from me when I’m talking to you.”
He watched as his cousin turned around and thought of his options. “You do realize I didn't follow you into the woods for nothing. Colin has been crying for like 30 … definitely more than 30 minutes now. You left Bobo home, when you dropped him off.”
He was about to send a text to Diesel, then stopped mid text. THAT was why!? "Ryan, you know you have keys right? Didn't Lily give them to you?" He was already walking back to the house. To be honest, anyone other than him and his wife having access to the house was not a good thing. "Nevermind, forget I said that." He broke out into a run, opened the door, ran to the bathroom, grabbed bobo, then walked out and locked the door.
"Here…." He gave Ryan the toy and started jogging down the stairs. He wasn't going to call Diesel, he was just going to go. Once he was safely behind the building and out of sight he powered up and leapt onto the roof, picking a direction and taking off.
Ryan looked at his cousin like he had two heads and a response on his lips before his cousin literally took off running. “What the ******** Eli?” Ryan sighed and took off behind him coming out of the woods and running back to the house. His cousin was well ahead of him, handing him the flamingo and running off again.
Ryan hated to do this, but his cousin was surely up to something, so he tossed the toy in his car and ran after his cousin. He was just in time to see someone leap onto the roof and his blood ran a little cold. He ran around the building and there was no sign of his cousin, making Ryan feel his suspicions were confirmed. He could let it go … he should let it go, but he found himself powering up.
He felt the only other aura in the area, chaos. Witherite nodded and let his powered form go, before heading back to his car. His cousin was fast, but not that fast, that aura was surely him and he’d deal with it another time. Right now, he needs to get back home.
Villon smirked to himself, figuring he had barely gotten away. He didn't want his cousin caught up in all this, hell he didn't even want to be when he was first recruited. But now, he loved every moment of it. Who knew you could feel so powerful taking lives? Surely something was wrong with him since remorse was not something he ever felt when he did take a starseed. But he supposed it could've been something he inherited from one of his parents.
He didn't know which one, nor did he care. In fact, perhaps he should try to find his parents, see how they were doing.
Then promptly rip the starseed from their chests.
It's not like they would be missed anyway.
