His mother had asked Ziya to watch him for a few hours while she went and did a new archery class. Since it was the first day she didn't want there to be a distraction both for her or the students, so that meant Reaghan had to stay with a babysitter. Or go to the store with his dad. Reaghan hadn't wanted to go to the store, claimed it was boring.

So that left him in his cousin's care.

Reaghan stared at Ziya as he sat in the chair swinging his legs back and forth. He liked his cousins well enough. They were family and he'd been raised to respect family. He just wasn't so sure about having his cousin be his care taker. Ziya was only a few years older than him! Alright, more than a few, but still. Ziya wasn't a full adult yet! How could his mom expect his cousin to take care of him?

So he sat there pondering what they could do and whether or not he should be the one looking after Ziya. After all, he was a big boy and he helped to look after his own twin.

Ziya wasn't certain if babysitting was better than doing normal chores, but at least it was a break from the village. Not that he minded his home but the young man had a bit of a wanderlust from his father and enjoyed shopping about in the city. There were just so many foreign goods to trade for in the markets compared to the limited amount of unique things he could find back home in his village. Since it was such a hassle to find a place to stay on his own it was better to stay with his relatives even if he did drive his uncle batty. However though Ziya found himself staring down the youngling that awaited him. "They really need to stop giving you so much fertilizer, kiddo." He teased lightly as he came into the room and smirked at his younger cousin.

"Are you just planning on sitting in the chair like this all day? Should I grab a book and just read or something?" Ziya crossed his arms as he waited on the youngling's response. "Since you don't want to go shopping is there anything else you'd rather do around the house?" His bi-colored gaze was thoughtful as he tried to get a read on Reaghan. "I brought some supplies into the kitchen. We could always make something?" He shouldn't suggest flying or anything like that....as much delight as it brought Ziya to ruffle Ergon's feathers the young hybrid wasn't about risking a youngling for it. Though he was confident in his ability to keep Reaghan safe even Ziya acknowledged that there were a lot of dangers lurking outside, even within the capital dangerous things could happen let alone out in the wilderness!

He wrinkled his nose up at his cousin when the mention of fertilizer came up. He didn't think he'd grown that much. "They haven't. Maybe you're getting shorter?" Reaghan gave Ziya a grin. He was being sassy toward his cousin but it ran in the family.

Slowly he shook his head. "No. Just not sure what to do. I get to watch after Eirex sometimes so I'm trying to figure out if I need to watch you too." Reaghan always claimed he was the older one. "There's nothing to do around the house. Unless you wanted to play hide and seek." He didn't think his older cousin would want to play with figurines. And Hugs wasn't home to pester - the perzi always followed his mother.

"I hate cooking. Mama makes me help her sometimes when I misbehave." He found it boring to be stuck in the kitchen. While he liked eating the things that were made in the kitchen he didn't like spending time in the room. "I like when we go out and buy food more. Its faster." The young icling had a clear impatience with most things. "Can we go hunting? I haven't gone in a while." And by while he really meant a few days. His mother took him with her about once a week just so he'd learn the skill. Reaghan knew his cousins had similar skills so he was hoping Ziya would take him.

"Mmm. I think you'd have to be able to see the top of my head before you could make that assessment." Quipped back Ziya with a small grin. "But you're still a bit too short for that. Maybe in another decade or so you'll get there."

"Careful or you will be stuck in the kitchen with me so that you can watch.I tend to be messy when baking so there'll be plenty of dishes for you to help out with." Warned Ziya without missing a beat as he listened to the youngling. What a kid! Maybe he was more accustomed to his younger sister being more quiet when they were kids but it seemed his mother's side of the family had some bite to them as well. Still though there went that idea of making snacks together. I guess I'll just take care of that later. He could always take home everything as well and just make it later in the week since Reaghan wasn't interested.

"Aren't you a bit small to be hunting already?" Ziya quirked a curious brow before tapping on his chin thoughtfully as if pondering the option. "If Auntie takes you hunting then where do you go? Do you have a weapon already?" Truly Ziya was curious and he could always take them out on his chiavi. Reaghan was small enough that Støv wouldn't even be bothered by the extra passenger.

See the top of his head? Reaghan looked at Ziya's head before he shifted in his chair, got up on his knees, grabbed the back of it, then stood up. Once he was on his feet in the chair he turned back around and put his hands on his hips. "I can see it now." He grinned at his own craftiness.

Of course the threat about being stuck in the kitchen simply to watch had him scrunching up his nose again. And there was no way he was going to wash dishes! Didn't Ziya know that was a Mama thing? Reaghan was so used to seeing his mother wash the dishes that he didn't think anyone else did them. So he shook his head yet again. "Nuh uh."

"I'm not that small. Mama takes me on the Mammu trail. I have my own bow." He pointed toward the room he shared with his twin. His mother had given him and his brother their own bows to learn with and he had gotten good enough to hit a target.

"Smart." Ziya simply chuckled at Reaghan's antics as he started to check his pack for all of his supplies. Thankfully he was always prepared for a hunt, his arrows and bow waiting for him outside along with Støv. The charcoal chiavi was thankfully patient and Ziya knew he could trust her to take care of his younger cousin if anything went awry.

"Well if you're so determined then I suppose we can go on a short trip. Nothing too major since I'm only watching you for a few hours." Ziya grinned playfully. "I'd rather not have Auntie tracking us down if we stay out overnight." But at least they could fly around on Støv for a bit and see some sights outside of the city. Ziya didn't completely trust the idea of taking out the youngling, mostly because he felt like the kids were still more pampered in the capital than he was in his home village, but he had faith that he could handle any trouble. Ziya had been raised to survive in the northern wilderness as soon as he could walk and took such things seriously despite his more relaxed appearance. Still...if Riya took out Reaghan to the Mammu trail then it would be fine if he did the same, right? If anything at least they could have some fun flying around before coming back home.

"Bring down your bow and let me check it out. We can go flying on Støv if you'd like."

Reaghan and his brother were taught a bit more than the average city kid but when compared to his cousins they didn't know nearly as much. At most the boy knew enough to stay alive for several hours, maybe over night if he had to, but beyond that he was pampered. Still, once Ziya told him to go get his bow he hopped down from the chair and hurried to his room to collect it.

The smaller boy was gone for a few minutes before he came back with his own little pack, his bow and arrows that fit it. Reaghan went right over to his cousin and held his bow up for him. "See." He was proud of his little bow. Of course his mom had made him a small spear too since he'd seen his dad use one and had thrown a fit that he wanted one as well. But he wasn't bringing that for hunting.

"Can we fly? I've never done that." Reaghan was more interested in that than he was actually hunting now.

Ziya studied the bow with interest, a small smile curving on his lips as he handed the bow back to his younger cousin. "Nice. Make sure you don't lose it." He teased lightly before gesturing for Reaghan to follow him outside. "We can definitely go flying. There's a nice meadow where we can practice shooting and maybe we can even hunt something." Ziya's gaze was bright as he glanced about before finally whistling a playful tune. There were a series of sharp whistles with set commands that he had learned growing up but the young hunter enjoyed adding his own twist to things and thankfully Støv went along with it.

After a few moments a large dark cloud crossed the sky before twisting down towards them. "Støv!" Ziya grinned as the gray chiavi settled next to him. "Reaghan meet Støv. Hopefully if you're well behaved she won't eat you." He teased even though the chiavi made a clicking noise of disapproval as Ziya adjusted her saddle straps and made certain she was prepared for flight. Normally he let her fly freely but whenever he was in the capital he kept certain things on the chiavi, just in case there was anyone tempted to act against his mount like she was a wild creature.

With his bow given back to him he grinned. There was no way he was going to lose his bow. It was his favorite. "Yes!" Reaghan was excited that they could go flying.

When they got outside he stayed close to his cousin. Seeing the beast familiar caused him to have a wide eyed look. "Wow! He was only used to seeing his mother's perzi around. Of course he'd seen other people with different kinds of beasts but that was different. "That's so cool!"

When he heard Ziya tell him that the creature wouldn't eat him so long as he behaved he looked at his cousin before he puffed up a little. "I'm not scared. And I'm always good." Reaghan had his bow after all! Not to mention he was sure his cousin wouldn't do anything that would put them in danger.

"Right?" Ziya beamed proudly. Raising a chiavi from a hatchling was something he was completely proud of and he enjoyed the attention that others gave Støv whenever they first met his mount. She was like his shadow, his best friend and Ziya was totally happy to introduce her to others. It was the best random egg that he had ever found in the mountains on his own and he wouldn't change the effort it took to raise her for anything else...even if he hadn't completely raised her by himself, but regardless!

"Uh-huh." Ziya raised a playful brow. "You're related to me, right?" Though he supposed his mother's side of the family was more reserved and not as chaotic as his father's side. Ziya chuckled with amusement before digging through his satchel bag. "Here." He handed something wrapped in paper to his younger cousin. "Feed it to Støv and she should let your hand touch her beak afterwards. It'll let her get accustomed to your scent before we leave." The dried fish tucked inside the paper was one of Støv's favorite snacks and Ziya did not doubt that she would quickly snatch it from Reghan once it was offered to her. She was already interested in the packaged fish, her dark gaze gleaming as she watched Ziya hand it over to the youngling, but she was well trained and stayed patiently still instead of diving for it.

D8 you shoulda poked me for this!! I'm sorry!

Reaghan grinned at Ziya when he asked if they were related. Of course he nodded. He understood that meant that the two of them weren't always good.

When his cousin gave him something wrapped up to feed to the beast he looked at it as he held it. A small tilt of his head. Then he got told what to do with it and he nodded his head. He could manage that at least. So Reaghan unwrapped it and moved toward Støv. The young boy stopped a few feet from the familiar then held it out and waited for the beast to come closer to take it from him.

"Here Støv, its just for you." He tried to be sweet to the bird.

No worries!

Støv watched as the youngling approached, the chiavi surprisingly patient despite everything. Her silvery gaze gleamed as Reaghan held out the treat, her beak inching closer to the package before freezing a breath away from the youngling. After a moment of studying the youngling the chiavi's beak opened and she took the fish, quickly swallowing the morsel before nudging her beak against his hand.

"As if he has more." Teased Ziya lightly though Støv stayed still, her gaze focused on the child. "Once you're finished greeting her you can climb up the saddle. Do you need a lift or can you handle that?" Ziya grinned playfully as he watched Reaghan. Once the youngling got into the saddle he would swing up behind him or if he needed a lift then he would simply lift him and then go from there.

"What direction are these hunting grounds again? Should we be going south or north of the city?"

The boy grinned from ear to ear when the chiavi took the offered treat and a laugh escaped him when it nudged his hand for more. Of course he shot his cousin a 'shut up!' look when he said Reaghan didn't have anymore. If allowed he'd reach up and stroke the face feathers of the beast before moving toward the saddle.

The offer for help made him straighten his spine a little and gain a determined look on his face. Reaghan wanted to show he was a big boy and could do it himself! Of course it would take him a minute to actually get up. And he looked absolutely hilarious as he sprawled out trying to climb up, but he did manage to do it on his own. (Even if it took him five minutes.) Once he was up he turned to look at Ziya with a triumphant grin.

As his cousin got settled into the saddle as well he shifted to be more comfortable. "They're south." There were more animals to the south since it got them just that little bit closer to warmer climates. His mother had told him that most animals liked being in the warmer parts but there were a few that didn't mind the cooler temperatures.

Sorry I missed this! If you're okay continuing this then I'm game as well.

"Nice job." Ziya had already spent a good moment trying to hide his laughter at the sight of Reaghan getting into the saddle. The kid was definitely stubborn, but hey he did it! Ziya had nodded proudly at the triumphant grin. "Maybe we'll make a rider out of you yet." He teased before settling in behind Reaghan and nudging Støv forward.

"Now if this is your first time flying just hold on and keep calm." Ziya let out a whistle before nudging Støv one final time, the large gray chiavi spreading her wings wide before running forward. The bitter wind whipped at their faces but soon enough the chiavi was off of the ground and flapping her wings to move them higher until they were over the house. As soon as she caught an air current, Støv's wings stilled as she allowed the wind to move them south where Ziya directed her. Of course he couldn't simply let it be an easy flight and thankfully Støv was willing to play along as Ziya urged her into a series of swirling movements, the chiavi flying through sky without any issues while swerving playfully. "Towards the south we go!" Ziya called out with a loud laugh as he enjoyed the freedom of flight.
