In the crowd of town she'd gotten separated from her escort. Elaxi wasn't sure how, honestly. They were tall and stood out among earthlings. But as she looked from left to right she didn't see them. Her nerves started to get to her then. Her hands came together in front of her and she picked lightly at her thumb nail.
Xi was out of her element. Ever since she'd been taken from her mother she was nervous around people. And trust wasn't something she knew too well. So she thought maybe that her escort had ditched her. And that thought made her eyes water a bit.
Her breathing started to get a bit fast as she continued to look around. The glasses on her face caught and reflected the mid-day sun, which caused her to squint a little. She'd been made to wear them to fit in but she was so used to wearing them now that she didn't think anything of it. Her long purple hair blew into her face as the wind picked up and she reached one hand up to move it back behind her long pointed ear. A scared tremble made its way through her as she bit down on her bottom lip. If she didn't find her escort soon she wasn't sure what to do.

(1/10) Morain huffed out a breath and watched as a string of silver hair blew out with it. Yael would never be quite as welcoming to him as Matori had been, but these days it was, arguably, more 'home' than the latter. His fathers lived here now, for whatever temporary time they took to rear their newest batch of kids, and he hadn't quite found it in himself to leave them yet. The Yaeli still looked at him strangely, but at this age he'd come to accept it would always be that way, for people like him at least.
Great. Now he was throwing himself a pity party.
Getting up from where he'd zoned out, Morain tugged his silky clothes a bit more firmly around himself and turned to leave - and that might have been that, had his eyes not caught a tiny figure through the crowd of the Yaeli town.
It was a young lady, a few years younger than himself, but much smaller, and she was doing a good job of making the Yaeli around her look less nervous by comparison - which was quite the feat, really. And figuring THAT mystery out was a lot more appealing than going home, to screaming kids.
"They say you can find most anything you're looking for down here in the markets!" Morain greeted as he approached, smiling broadly and as friendly as possible. "Need a hand looking?"

She wasn't looking in his direction when the boy approached, so when he spoke to her she literally gave a jump and a small shriek. Elaxi whipped her head around so quickly that her hair got slung over the rim of her glasses and stayed there, making her look like a complete nervous wreck. With wide eyes looking at him since she'd been startled that someone had stopped to talk to her, she seemed frozen for a second before his words sunk in. "O-oh. Uhm. I-I'm not looking for a th-thing." What she wanted was not an item. It was a person. Or people. Her body gave another tremble, almost as if she was cold, and she did what she could to fix her hair. As her one hand picked hair from her glasses the other was held tightly to her chest. Xi went cross-eyed at one point as she fought with a few strands that didn't want to be moved.

(2/10) Oh- well! Morain somehow managed not to jolt the moment she yelled out, but it was a close thing. His smile turned a bit more strained, but he managed, he thought, to still look friendly rather than menacing. This close, it was clear to him that she was a hybrid, just as he was; though with her hair the way it was he at least assumed she was at least a BIT Yaeli.
Goddess, but her little voice was a tremulous thing! Though, his eyebrow raised skeptically at her non-answer. "Ah. Yes well - there are familiars probably on that side of the market-" He turned to point, more so he could politely give her a moment to struggle with her hair and glasses, rather than to actually gesture. "And there are taverns for food and drink a bit further into the settlement."
He considered reaching out to help, but if she was so terrified by his presence, he didn't think she'd react well to him touching her. "It's a bit easier if you take them off, or so I hear." Morain advised kindly, in regards to her glasses.

She paused in her struggle with her hair and glasses. The suggestion to take them off made sense and she nodded before doing just that. Both hands were used to removed her spectacles and detangle the hair from them then only the right put her hair back in place while the left held onto her glasses. Only when she put them back on did she look in the directions pointed, of course she was a bit late in doing so. From there Elaxi brought her gaze back to the stranger. "I uhm.. I'm looking for s-someone.." While a familiar sounded nice she didn't have the funds for it nor did she think her two escorts would be pleased with the addition of a beast during their journey. And food was nice too but she wasn't lacking in that department. Alizeh and Luleta made sure she was well fed. "W-well, two s-someones.." She brought her right hand up over her head as she went up on her tip toes, left hand clutched at her chest. "Th-they are really t-tall.. with r-red hair.. a-and markings a-all over." The mention of markings had her pointing to her face. While she did have some matori markings her companions had something more decorative.

(3/10) Morain wondered if the girl would take the chance to flutter away, to quit the conversation now that she had an excuse. But instead, she took a long, slightly awkward moment to address her glasses, while Morain stood politely watching. Then, with a look cast around her that looked so painfully lost, she finally spoke again - a someone!
Well! That was a step in the right direction, wasn't it? "Red hair huh?" He prompted, turning to look around. From his vantage point, he could see why she looked so frustrated - there was no one even close who matched that description.
Tall... red hair - they sounded like Elaria, though talking about matori markings threw him for a bit of a loop, so in his mind he was expecting to look for hybrids.
... Could Elaria create hybrids too? THAT was quite something to think about, wasn't it??
"And where was it you lost these 'someones' of yours?" He asked, turning back to her. This would be easier, he thought, if he had some of that Aishan tallness - but alas, that was one trait his father had failed to pass down to him.

She didn't take the chance to run, mostly because the crowd was scarier. Elaxi nodded her head at the question about red hair. It was such a lovely color. She was almost envious of it and had thought about dying her hair to match Alizeh and Luleta but didn't want them to be mad at her for it. The question about where she'd last seen them had her turning her head to look at the shops. Which one had she been near when she'd last seen them and gotten distracted? Usually Elaxi was good about not wandering off. Crowds scared her and strange people always made her feel unsafe. "I.. I.. I was in f-front of one of the shops.." Had it been jewelry? Or clothing? Or was it a snack? No, Elaxi had been distracted by the jewelry. One piece had reminded her of her mother's crystals. So what had they been near? The longer it took her to remember the more her eyes watered. Elaxi was close to crying now that she thought it was her fault that she'd lost them.

(4/10) The poor thing was shaking like a leaf, and for the life of him Morain couldn't tell if his presence was helping or making things worse. If anything, she seemed to be getting more upset at all the questions, and Morain - despite typically being a calm person - found himself fretting alongside her! The last thing he wanted was to make someone cry!
"Ok ok! It's gonna be fine, we'll figure it out, right?" The hybrid said, hands briefly gesticulating towards her, half torn between the urge to pat her on the back reassuringly, and... not doing that, lest he freak her out more. "They can't have gone far, this town's not THAT big. Let's go look for them together, yeah? I'm Morain." It was better to not be a stranger helping her out, right?

When the other person, who'd introduced himself as Morain, seemed to fret over the fact that she was getting upset she took a big breath to help calm herself down. Elaxi knew crying wasn't going to solve much but she couldn't help the tears since she'd gotten close to feeling like she was going home again finally only to get lost. Still, this person was willing to help her find the two saviors so there wasn't much to worry about. So she nodded her head as she let her breath out slowly, no longer on the verge of crying, though the tears stayed in her eyes. "I'm E-Elaxi." A small hiccup caused her stutter this time. Knowing this person was going to help her find the Elarian's she was looking for she stepped closer and reached out to hold onto their shirt sleeve. It was something common that little kids did and while Xi was older than that it was a habit she still did when she needed to feel safe and reassured.

(5/10) This poor little thing! Morain's expression was soft and sympathetic as she calmed herself down, though when she came in to grip his sleeve he had to fight to keep the surprise off his face. It was such a childlike behavior, but it only made it more clear how frantic she felt.
He made a point to calm himself down too, because he ... didn't handle stress well, apparently! "It's so good to meet you, Elaxi!" he enthused, instead, exaggerating each syllable of her name playfully. Then, he stood on the tips of his toes and peered around the market, humming under his breath in disappointment. No antennaes or flash of red in sight, yet.
"Well. Tell me a bit more about your friends - do you think they'd wait for you somewhere? Was there anything they were looking for at the market, in particular?"
