Lopezite was diligent. He didn’t ever do enough that he stood out more than just ‘average’, but he liked it that way. He did what was expected of him, sometimes a little more, but he had a comfortable balance of civilian life and Negaverse life. H eworked, more often than not, but he liked to think it was generally for the greater good.
It had been a while since he ran into anyone in the Negaverse on accident, but Destiny City seemed to intend to be kind to him tonight. He appreciated the company.
He’d filled his quota of gathering energy for the week, but a little extra never hurt. A little extra. He found her while he was looking for a bit more to top off.
Her energy signature was easy to follow, and though he was tempted to teleport he didn’t want to startle her. He approached at a steady pace to give her time to leave if she really needed to, but he was relieved that she wasn’t.
General Lopezite raised his hand and smiled politely, even when there was still a bit of distance between them. "Hey," he greeted, "Good evening. I'm General Lopezite, I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you yet?"

Periclase had drifted towards the stronger aura, feeling what was almost a little hope, that just maybe...
Her expression didn’t change when she saw that it was a different General, but her heart did drop a few inches, or so it felt. “Ah! Yes, hi. I’m Periclase, Negaverse Senshi of Hemlock. It’s lovely to meet you, General Lopezite!”
And…it really was. She hadn’t seen a General in so long, for a moment, it was just…
Nice.
“Is there anything that I can do for you? I haven’t met you either, honestly, I was just figuring all of the Generals went away or something.” Periclase gave a smile that did manage to show some of her disappointment that it hadn’t been Stella but…
“Are you looking to have any senshi to report to you, General? If so, I’d love to be a part of your team. I’ve been without a General for…quite a while now. And I miss it.”

She was enthusiastic, he liked that. Straight forward, too. That made this easy. A little worrisome, if she didn’t have a General, but he understood that things happened.
He wasn’t not looking for a Senshi to report to him, but he hadn’t gone out tonight expecting it so he hadn’t had anything prepared.
“Are you sure? You’d be more than welcome.” He hadn’t heard of anyone warning against Periclase, so he doubted she was the problem. “I haven’t been doing much with my team beyond a few check-ins, so I can’t say we’re a particularly exciting bunch. But you’d be welcome, we’d have a place for you. What branch are you in?”

Periclase sighed. “Never really picked one. By the time I was promoted, my General had vanished into the ether and replaced me with a new and shiny corrupt that she liked better, so I’m still in General Operations, which…that’s okay for me. I’m not really a special missions type of person, and I’m not like. A big PR person or someone who can get information, so…I think I’m better off where I am…ah. What about you?”
This was nice. He asked useful questions…and that was nice.
Maybe…he’d have some advice on trying to get senshi to corrupt too…but that…
That would have to be phrased carefully.

He nodded along at her story, and a sympathetic expression dawned quickly as she explained her situation. “Nothing wrong with General Operations, I think it’s a perfectly fine Branch, especially if you want to dabble in a little bit of everything. I’m still in GenOps, too.”
He hadn’t any shame for it either; he liked having the opportunity to be connected to others. A jack of all trades didn’t need to be a master of any of them when he was capable of assembling a well structured, skilled team that had the best of all of them. No point in limiting yourself, either; he was passionate about doing a good job and being where he needed to be; being in General Operatives meant he was flexible.
“You can always train or practice with someone in a specific branch if you want to improve your skills. I like having options. And, there are plenty of people in GenOps who are looking for a little extra guidance. I just like to be where I think I can do the most good.”

“So, will you take in a lowly Super senshi like me? I think I’d appreciate it. I’ve missed having someone to report to and give advice.” Pericalse was half joking, but honestly, most of that was simply because she was half afraid of being rejected.
“Also, can I ask a question and have you not judge me or think me a traitor or anything like that, and if you do, we can simply pretend that I never asked it but…”
She chewed the inside of her cheek and then plowed on. “I’ve been trying to play nice with the White Moon. I want to see if I can’t coax them into corrupting. My girlfriend says I shouldn’t bother and should just drag them in regardless of what they want, and that they’ll forget regardless so playing nice isn’t needed but…I don’t know. How far do you think I should go to bring them in? How much is too much in your opinion?”

Now, Lopezite looked a bit surprised. “Lowly? Who told you were lowly?”
Because she’d only gotten one promotion? Because she was a Senshi?
Because she was trying to employ creative means to win over the White Moon?
“I don’t think there’s ever ‘too much’ of an effort to put into it. I don’t think you should leave the Negaverse,” he said, “Or torture them until they give in, I suppose.” Probably.
“Making nice with them doesn’t sound like a bad idea if you’re going to commit to it. But you should definitely have someone to check in with so you can give full reports. So no one gets the wrong idea of your intention. I wouldn’t want someone to think that you were planning to defect. So, I suppose, if you need an open-minded General, we can work that out. I’d want to talk to you about who you were after, and what you were working on. What information you can uncover about them, what you’re doing. Is that something you’d be willing to do?”
It seemed like comfortable, lenient parameters that would give her the opportunity to do whatever she needed, and give him–and the Negaverse–the reassurances they needed that she was doing a job, not giving in to them.

Periclase shrugged. “I mean. Maybe lowly isn’t the right word but…you’re the General with the big scary weapon, and I’m just…me. If you thought me lowly, I’d understand. But…If you think that making nice with them is a good idea, then I’d be happy to report all of my findings to you. There’s one, she’s the senshi of the unattainable, and she seemed quite sad…I…I think that if I could spend a little more time with her, she’d come rather willingly. I don’t think she has much comfort in her life.”
She drew in a breath and looked annoyed after a moment. “And then there was an angry one, I don’t know her name but she was yelling and punching a tree, she got rather hostile and honestly…General if i see her again I might just take her starseed.”
It was harsh, but true.

He blinked and shook his head. “No, I don’t think you’re lowly. Not all. It sounds like you’ve got a good plan moving forward. Maybe we can meet in my office and talk somewhere safer? We can go now, if you like. Or schedule it for a night when we’ve got a bit of time to go over things. You can fill me in on everything you’ve learned from these Senshi and why you think they’re worth it.”
Or not worth it, in the case of the one she was considering starseeding.
If there was a good reason, there was a good reason. He’d taken very few starseeds in his time, though it wasn’t something he was ashamed of.

Periclase hesitated and then nodded. “Yeah, we can continue the conversation in your office. That might be nice.”
Goodness…she hadn’t been to an office in so long…it.
Would be almost nostalgic.
“I’m ready to go when you are, General.” And she held out her hand, giving a rather pleased smile.
