The time for her cousin’s departure was nearly upon them and the whole concept weighed heavy on Enya’s mind. She’d already tried to convince her once, twice, to stay for longer, but honestly Luleta had already been away from her family long enough or so Mama Pyrrha said. Still, that didn’t mean she could magically stop thinking about it! The night before Luleta was set to return Enya tossed and turned, pausing at moments to huff before giving up entirely.
The elidae slid out of her bed, padded across to where her cousin was staying and gave her arm a little shake. “Hey, hey Luleta~” Thankfully she was so sure her own sister would sleep through the ‘whispers’ that Enya didn’t even bother looking over her shoulder.

Though sad that the end of her trip was coming up, Luleta was looking forward to getting back home. She missed her mothers, her sister, her bed, her tools.. She'd made such good memories, and was so grateful that her mothers had allowed the visit. She knew Pruu in particular had been uncertain about sending her daughter alone, but it was family. But it was over now.She had her things all packed and had laid down with every intention of a good night's sleep for the trip ahead.
Then she felt a touch to her arm, and her eyes snapped open. "Enya?" She yawned and sat up. It was still dark out. "Are you okay?"

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She crossed her arms against the edge of the bed and leaned her upperbody against it while her knees rested on the floor. It wasn’t the most comfortable position, but she wasn’t planning on staying there for long. “I’m going with you tomorrow; when you go back to Zinris. I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I really want to go.”
She hadn’t even talked to her own mothers about it, but they knew she wanted to go someday. Surely they wouldn’t panic if that day happened sooner rather than later, right?

"You are?" Of the things she might have expected to come up in the middle of the night, this wasn't exactly on the list. She knew her cousin had been wanting to visit Yael, but this seemed rather sudden. She rubbed her eyes again and sat up fully. "I would be glad for you to come with me, but what about Aunt Pyrrha? And Aunt Kanika? Do you think they're going to let you go?" As far as she knew, her aunts were rather against the idea of Yeal. She pursed her lips slightly. "That being said.. you would have all of us to look after you. Most of the sisters there know not to mess with our family. And what better timing than when I'll be right there on the trip with you?"

She shifted a bit on her knees and nodded. “The last time I tried talking to Mama Pyrrha about it she wasn’t…excited, but at least she knows I’ve been thinking on it. I’ve been writing letters for years and I’m tired of being told to wait until I get big enough to go. You’re here and we’re the same age!” Catching herself getting a little too loud, Enya looked over her shoulder just to make sure Pyanka hadn’t woken up. When she was satisfied, she turned back to her cousin. “I don’t think they’ll be happy that I waited until the last minute to say anything, but I don’t think they’ll say no.”
If she waited too long then Pyrrha might hold her back, and disappointing Mama Kanika would sting. Worse yet, her grandmothers…Still, it wasn’t as if she wouldn’t ever come back home! It was just a visit. “Do you think Auntie Pruu and Akel would let me stay?”

Luleta smiled lightly at her cousin's passion. Enya had a point there. If she could come here, why couldn't Enya go there? Of course, she and Enya were very different, in her opinion. Never mind that Yael tended to have a much different attitude toward outsiders... but this was family! Really, it did seem like those with open minds were beginning to outweigh the stubborn oldies. "Okay. As long as they're not going to send a letter to Mata telling her I kidnapped you because they don't want you going," she mused with a chuckle. "I'll be skinned alive." A slight exaggeration.. but Pruu's wrath was real!
Her antennae perked at the question and she shook her head. "I know they'll insist on you staying with us. Mata probably won't let you out of her sight unless one of us is with you anyway. There's plenty of space in the room with me and Ali." She peeked over Enya's shoulder, brow knitting slightly. "What about Pyanka?"

"Even if they did we'd beat the letter." Enya grinned. "And all I'd have to do is wait for it so they would never know." Kanika would throw a fit if she found out Enya was hiding that kind of information. Honestly, the more she thought about tomorrow the more her excitement over the trip was outweighing any worry she had about getting chew out over it. Kanika wouldn't like the last minute notice, and Pyrrha...Well, just because she didn't want to go see her sister didn't mean Enya had to stay behind! "My grandmother Lumikani travels all the time. As long as I promise not to go anywhere she said not to I should be fine."
Looking over her shoulder again, Enya felt her shoulders deflate. "I don't think she'll come along this time. Maybe once she knows it's okay, but I'll ask her in the morning."

Luleta snickered and shook her head. "They're sisters. Even if we intercepted the letter, the message would get there some way." She stretched her arms over her head and watched her cousin for a moment. Grandmother... She couldn't help a twinge of jealousy every time her cousins' grandmother was brought up. The only grandmother she'd known.. well, she hadn't even gotten to know. She had been a dangerous demon in the shadows to be avoided at all costs..
"Just as long as she doesn't feel like we're purposely leaving her." She reached out to take Enya's hand. "She'll get her chance when she's ready. You're just ready first. What's one of the first things you want to see when we get there?"

"I won't let her feel that way." Enya murmured. She and Pyanka may have had differing opinions about things from time to time, but they were twins in the truest sense. Identical markings, features, bone structures; even if Pyanka didn't go physically her spirit would travel with Enya.
"Well, first I wanna see Elzira, of course, and your house, but then...I wanna see an earthling. A real one." She'd heard about them, sure, but most of the individuals Enya met that weren't Aishan were Kahikina.

Luleta listened attentively and nodded. "We can do all of that. Absolutely. We will go to the house first, I think. Show you where you will be sleeping and drop off any bags you bring. Then we will go visit Elzira. Alizeh might even come with us." She pondered a moment on the matter of the earthlings and nodded. "The earthlings will be easy to see. They don't hang around Zinris, but they've calmed down about seeing Aishans in their town. Most of them are of the mindset of they won't bother you if you don't bother them, but there are a few friendly ones." She smirked and leaned forward. "Enya.. They're so tiny. Like.. their babies could fit at least two at a time in our blossoms."

Oh that's right, she would need to pack her things. She hadn't bought anything for the trip, hadn't even begun to save and some of her clothing needed mending....Well, that's what the boat ride was for and if she could run in the swamp naked then she could do that in Zinris, right? "Two? In one blossom? Are you sure they're well enough to be born?" She'd seen enough creatures have children that were far too small and lose them because of it. If that was the case then how could there be so many earthlings? "I've been told some of them are the same size as the Hapuna so it's not THAT much of a difference, but it's exciting to me."

Luleta shook her head. "You wouldn't think so, but considering how many of them there are.. well, it seems to work out well enough for them." She wrinkled her nose slightly. "Not that it would matter much anyway. Earthlings don't have blooms like we do. They grow inside the females until they pop out. Like a drillworm or something." She had only heard tales, but it was never pleasant to the ear. "I suppose that's why they're so small to start. I have not seen many Hapuna, but I think they're close is size. Imagine an Aishan infant coming out of a Hapuna!"

Enya smirked. “They sound like toads. Croaking and bellowing every spring so they can have a dozen little tadpoles.” She raised her hand to wiggle her fingers like the little swimmers. “Just popping them out like spit or dandelions if you chew on them.” The elidae started to laugh a little but quickly hushed herself. They might be chatting but Pyanka was still sleeping and goddess help them If they woke Kanika.
“Don’t earthlings have any goddesses to help them? Or are they being punished for walking around with a blossom in their belly?”

Her brow rose with surprise, and then it took all of Luleta's willpower to keep from bursting out laughing. Once the laughter was mostly smothered, she brought her hands down from her mouth and took a deep breath. "I have heard that there are things like toads on Chibale called spitorogs. They have spikes and huge blank eyes. Maybe they're what the earthlings evolved from!" She could imagine it! "I do believe they have goddesses, but they're not like ours. They don't.." she pursed her lips slightly, "..they don't really do anything for them, from what I can tell. Some of the females look happy having the blossoms inside them though." She shrugged a little for emphasis. It was strange, to be sure.

Enya couldn't help it; she popped out with a loud, snorting laugh before smothering her face in Luleta's blanket. "GODDESS, I hope so! If I see ONE earthling with giant eyes and a dead stare I'm going to lose it." Even if she'd been told what they were supposed to look like Enya wanted to imagine them for what they were; bug eyed bloated croakers.
"We have betters goddesses then, since ours helps us. I bet they're only happy having little ones like that because they don't have an option. Like, if you've never tried honey in your tea so you SAY you like it, but really you just haven't had the good stuff."
