Kina 1
After finally getting down from the tree she had picked up what she could of the fruit, those that weren’t badly bruised or busted anyways. She huffed a bit, annoyed with the whole situation. With her now significantly smaller haul being held in her skirt she made her way back to her camp. Kina needed to hurry up so she could go to the stream and rinse off her scrapes. She had a few on her arms but also a bit on her stomach since her shirt didn’t cover it.

He had promised his brother that they would spend time together after he went to the market in the next town over but he was running late. So he took the shortcut through the woods rather than going all the way around via the road. Ilkay figured if he could shorten the time it took him to get there then it wouldn’t be so bad. Of course he hadn’t been counting on stumbling across a pretty girl in the middle of the woods either. So when he ended up in front of the girl he paused to look her up and down.

When someone else appeared in front of her she stopped in her tracks and narrowed her eyes at them. Granted this one was shorter so there was no risk of him throwing her into a tree at least. But he had muscle on him that told her he wasn’t someone that just stayed at home. As he looked her up and down she returned the favor before speaking. “You’re in my way.” Her head nodded toward the small trail she had been following that would take her back to her camp.

When she spoke to him, stating she was in the way, he looked behind him at the trail then back to her. With a small nod and a look that said he understood he took a step to the side and motioned for her to walk past him. “There you are, Sugar.” He had every intention of letting her go past him since he had somewhere to be but as he looked he noticed she had some surface wounds on her arms. “Are you alright there, Sugar? You don’t need to see a healer do you?”

A pleased look crossed her face when he moved out of her way. At least someone had manners out in the woods. She had taken all of two steps when the boy spoke to her again, this time asking her if she was alright. She paused for a second, wondering why he’d mention a healer, when she noticed where he was looking. So she looked at her arms and noticed the little bit of redness and bleeding that had started and stopped due to the scrapes. “I’ll live, that’s just what happens when someone throws you into a tree.” Kina looked less than pleased with the whole thing.

His brows drew together when he heard her response. Someone had thrown her? As in bodily? Into a tree? Ilkay took a second to look at her then at the nearest tree then back. “Why would someone throw you into a tree Sugar?” Now he was just confused and a little concerned. So he stepped back onto the path and faced her properly. When he noticed that her scrapes were even on her stomach he frowned some. “Should get those cleaned off. Is there a river or something nearby, Sugar? I’ll help if you don’t mind.” It would make him late but he was already pushing it on time.

“Why indeed.” She muttered. Kina rolled her eyes as she thought about the hybrid who had decided to be more savage than civilized. He was definitely not on her list of people she’d be willing to speak to. “There is a stream that way.” She pointed with her free hand but otherwise seemed disinterested in the conversation they were having. Nykinae already knew she needed to clean the wounds. They might not be bad or deep but they could still get infected and she wasn’t about to let that happen.

He nodded his head. Since the girl didn’t tell him the reason behind her being tossed like a sack of flour he wasn’t going to press it. Instead he looked the way she indicated then back to her before offering her a smile. “I’ll take you then, Sugar. Don’t want you to get hurt any more.” It would be a shame for such a beautiful girl to end up more hurt than she already was. Ilkay offered her his hand to show he was being polite

She took his hand without a complaint because at least someone was showing they had manners. Kina thought back to the hybrid. To say he had her hackles raised was an understatement. Next time she saw him she was likely to take the boy’s knees. “I should make you carry my fruit for me, actually. That way I can lead the way.” Normally she’d have smiled as she said that but with her mood she couldn’t help but stare straight ahead. Whoever that hybrid was had ruined her mood for the day

“Is that what you want me to do, Sugar? I have no issues carrying something for a pretty lady.” He grinned at her and held his other hand out to her in case she was serious about making him carry the fruit. “Or would you rather I just carry you?” With her outfit and the way she held herself he had to guess she was not used to being in the thick of the woods too much. The girl stood out quite a bit.

She looked at his other hand and was truly considering it when she caught his other words. The boy had offered to carry her. Now that Kina could work with. So she nodded her head. “I’ll allow you to carry me. It would be nice to not have to walk right now.” If someone was going to offer to pamper her then who was she to tell them no? Besides, she could simply point the boy in the right direction to get to the stream and then to her camp. It was a win win for her.

As she said she would allow him to carry her he chuckled and gave her a half smirk. “As you wish, Sugar.” And with that he tugged on her hand to bring her to him just a little bit more before he leaned down and scooped her up bridal style. It was easier to carry her that way and it also didn’t risk her dropping any of her fruit. “Point the way, Sugar.” With that he started to walk in the direction she had originally been planning to go.

Once she was scooped up and held securely she didn’t seem as upset about everything that had happened. Instead she smiled at the boy carrying her then pointed down the trail. “Just follow this for a bit. You’ll hear the water when we’re close.” There wasn’t much else to it really. She’d managed to keep a rather simple trail to and from her camp and along the way there had been what she’d needed. “And my name isn’t Sugar. It’s Nykinae.” While she’d noticed the pet name she hadn’t said anything about it since she wasn’t in the mood.

With the easy directions given he followed them. He, of course, kept his ears open for the sound of water so that he’d know when they were close to the stream. When the girl in his arms gave him a name he looked down at her and offered his signature grin. “Pleasure, Nykinae. I’m Ilkay. If you don’t mind though, I’d prefer to call you Sugar.” Ilkay gave her a wink before looking back at the trail to make sure they didn’t fall from him tripping over something.

She noticed his smile and when he introduced himself he said he would rather call her the pet name. Since it wasn’t a bad one she didn’t think she minded too much. Of course when he winked at her she had to roll her eyes with a little laugh. If he thought that was going to work then he was mistaken. “Well Ilkay, I’m glad you seem to have some manners.” That was about as close to a thank you as he was going to get for carrying her. Kina didn’t just outright thank people. Not unless they were family anyways.
