“So that’s the jist of it,” Aiden concluded; he’d gotten a bit animated, explaining everything he could about this whole Knight thing while they ate dinner. He’d managed to clear off most of his plate, and to keep his voice low and quiet so they could talk in private. He’d finished off three cups of water in all of his talking, but he’d tried to go over every little aspect, every little detail, to make sure she knew just what she’d gotten involved in.
“For right now, I think the best thing to do is probably try to visit Jupiter and see if you can’t get some answers there about what you might be able to do to get stronger. You can get a Ring there that helps with communication and keeping in contact or sending messages while you’re Targovishte. Actually–I mean, I was thinking about going up to my place. I was going to try to explore or see if I could find some key to unlocking more power up there. Do you want to come with me? It’s just this crumbled castle and a big forest. You can see over the cliff edge. It’s really pretty, but kinda creepy. Honestly, I’d like the company. I haven’t found anyone else up there, no people, no animals, but I think that’s normal. Maybe we can practice up there, too? I’m free pretty much every evening this week, but no pressure if you’re busy or would rather stick to Earth for now.”

It was so much to take in, but Sadie nodded, eyes wide and rather confused still. He had been thorough, that was for sure but…but it was just so much.
“I’m…it feels like my head is going to explode with all of that. I don’t know how you’ve managed to remember it all, but I am quite intimidated just by the sheer…amount of it. I…yes, I…I mean. I’m still half convinced that you’re pulling my leg, do you know how insane it sounds just to casually say that we can go up to Jupiter? I…like. The answer is yes but there’s this part of my mind that keeps trying to tell me it’s a joke and you’re a very talented and imaginative person with all of this.”
She took one last bite of her lamb and then pushed the plate away, resting her head against her palm. “Yes, the answer is obviously yes. I want to see it! It sounds so insane, in the best of ways. I’m free whenever as well so whenever you’re up for it. Maybe tomorrow? Tomorrow sounds good, and it’ll give me the rest of the night and all day to keep trying to wrap my head around everything…you have a castle? That…that’s so cool Aiden. Do you think I’ll have a castle too?”

“I know, I’m sorry,” he said apologetically. “It’s a lot to take in at once, so if you have any questions or want me to go over anything again later, I’m more than happy to. It’s a huge info dump. But don’t be intimidated,” he insisted, as gently as he could so he didn’t come across as too pushy. “It’s just like getting into anything new, it’s just a lot. But you’ll get better at this, I promise. And I’ll take you up to my Wonder so you can see that it’s not some make believe. I’m not that creative,” he laughed softly.
He had to take a break to sip at his drink but he was quick to continue, “So tomorrow night sounds good. I don’t know what type of Wonder you have, but I’d like to find out. From what I’ve been able to tell, they’re all kind of beat up? But they’ve been neglected for like a thousand years, so that’s not surprising. The magic that protected them can only do so much, but the more time we spend there trying to fix it up, the better off they’ll be. I haven’t seen much of that myself–yet–but I’m hopeful. I’m going to pack snacks for us, so if there’s anything special that you want, let me know? My cousin has a bakery, I usually just stop by and see what he’s got. But I can grab sandwiches or something too. And first aid. I’ll bring all the necessities, I’ve got some flashlights and exploring gear, too.”
He sounded like he was getting more excited about it, and was already building a mental checklist to make sure they had everything they could possibly need.

“I don’t know, Aiden. You seem pretty creative to me.”
Sadie gave a little smile and nodded. “I would feel a lot more comfortable after going to see yours first, yeah. So tomorrow sounds really good for that. Should I bring anything, you said you’re going to pack snacks, but should I bring anything? Drinks maybe? I ran into a dog man who gave me some water once…ah. He just pulled it out of nowhere. Can you teach me how to pull things out of nowhere? I love sandwiches, by the way, so sandwiches are always good. I’m much more of a savory person rather than a sweet one.”
She paused and shrugged. “I am sweet though, don’t get me wrong. But. yeah! That sounds…overwhelming but amazing, and I hope that…well. Do you think we can fix it up? Should I bring a toolbox for you or something? Like…a housewarming gift? I’ll do it. Don’t put it past me.”
Even if he said no, she might honestly just do it anyway.

She didn’t know how to use subspace? She’d been so cheated!
“I’ll bring sandwiches, if you want to bring drinks, that sounds great. I’ll take anything, and I’ll show you how to use the whole pocket dimension thing, too. Truth be told, I’m savory more than sweet, too, but I like to support the family.”
He smiled, because he was in a good mood–especially after this great meal–and leaned back a bit. “I have a lot of tools, don’t worry. I have hobbies that need a lot of them. Save the housewarming gifts until we see what we’ve got to deal with–and until we see your place, too.”
He hadn’t been to his wonder in a while; it was a neat place, but it was lonely. Lifeless.
Of course he’d wanted to go back, but…
Now he had a reason to.

Sadie nodded, giving a little laugh and nodded, though still thought that she would bring some tools regardless. He was doing so much for her, he deserved a gift and if it could bring him joy, then it was worth whatever the price for tools were.
They couldn’t be that expensive, right?
“All right then! I’ll meet you tomorrow at six? We can meet where we met tonight, and if you need anything changed, you have my number. Don’t be afraid to use it either. I’m very open to texts and always text back as soon as I’m able.” Giving another smile, Sadie stood and made her way over to the cash register, paying for the meal and giving a little wave to Aiden, pleased with how the night had turned out. It…would be nice to have a friend in this. One that was like she was. One that…hopefully she could really learn from. Regardless, it was just nice to have a friend.
