tab tab ➷ tab Born into an impoverished life, Mayumi's mother, Aiya, was the youngest out of five siblings. Their house was run down, barely enough space for sleeping, having to bathe in the river just outside their own and sleep on the floor with blankets filled with holes. Over time, each one of her siblings began to disappear when they got closer to young adult age. Eventually, it was just Aiya left at home. She hadn't made many friends, her parents never answered questions about where her siblings went and it wasn't a conversation that she brought up after the large lecture she received the last time.
tab tab ➷ tab Eventually, Aiya turned 11 and her father took her into town. There were so many questions, Aiya had been directed to not speak. It was then two men, about 8 years older, with swords approached his father, questioning about the young girl with rope around her wrists. The word "sold" would never leave her head as the two men took her home.It was terrifying to realize she had just been sold into slavery. But it wasn't that at all. When she brought home, she was brought into the home of her future husband. Eventually, she learned that he was a demon slayer, traveling with his brother.
tab tab ➷ tab Later, Aiya and Kenji ended up married once she became of full age. Poverty wasn't something she had to experience. They ended up with a total of four children. An elder daughter, and elder son and a set of twins.
tab tab ➷ tab Mayumi and Mayuko were a surprise for their parents as they hadn't been expecting the ability to have children. They grew up extremely close with their elder daughter becoming seamstress and their older brother moving on to become an apprentice blacksmith in the city. The twins were always different and it wasn't until they were around eleven their father and uncle started to train them for what they learned was joining the Demon Slayers. Both of them decided the only way for them to go through this would be together. She ended up adopting the breathing style of her father, water while her twin brother ended up finding fire breathing being his natural style.
