Tyrannosaurus dusted her pants off, clapping her hands to be rid of the last of the clinging Youma dust from her most recent encounter.
Lately, things seemed to be looking up. Maybe she was getting stronger, and it did work like the RPGs she played so much on her computer and at home? After all, she had been working hard at fighting people, challenging Negaverse soldiers and even evil Senshi to fights. It did not matter how strong they were, as it turned out, though she did not have the best win ratio.
No one had to know her stats: she just had to focus on the wins. On what she was doing right, and how she was doing it. The experience was the most valuable, and clearly she was leveling up in some sort of way. And a way that mattered. Or maybe she was just getting lucky and had won her last few fights by luck alone.
Her newly adapted fighting style was helping. Using her powers to paralyze and then stealing a chance to attack, rather than run away like she thought it was best for, was really making a difference. She was starting to think she could adapt it in other ways, too, and just needed more encounters. It also occurred to her, very distantly and with no staying power, that she was getting cocky and needed to be careful.
Dinosaurs were not exactly known for being careful, right? No one would see a T-Rex tiptoeing around. Why else was she given this namesake, if not to lean into it a bit? It was working so far.

Even with the heat wave over, Larimar hadn't been feeling any better. If anything - ze'd been feeling worse, more paranoid, starting to flake at the seams. Which was stupid, because ze was doing fine, ze was doing great, but that stupid ******** fight with the flower senshi was still weighing on zyr mind -- how badly ze'd lost. And after that -- being trapped in that stupid ******** rift for a few weeks had done numbers on zyr grades with finals coming up, and everything was feeling impossible, and. And it was - it was a lot. It was almost too much. Zyr hands were shaking a lot of the time now, from not enough sleep, from too much pressure, from everything.
It didn't matter. Business was business, Negaverse or otherwise. If ze made a commitment, ze had to stick with it, or else look unworthy, or else look lackadaisical.
When ze'd felt a youma aura and a first-stage senshi aura close by, ze'd started heading towards it, but -- the damn thing was already dead by the time Larimar got there. Damn it. "What are those ******** things even good for," the Captain complained, audibly, flipping zyr dagger into the air and catching it as it fell, "if they can't even make people like you bleed? Just means I have to do all the work."

T-Rex felt the stronger aura approaching and knew she should be careful. After all, she had some tense run ins with Captains already under her belt, including one that she probably would not have gotten out of if not for someone showing up and helping her out of danger. She remembered that stab wound with a bad taste in her mouth, not wanting to endure something like that again.
And not so soon, either. She was all healed, but she did not want to give herself another chance at a scar when she had only just escaped getting one.
"How am I supposed to know? You're the ones that use them. I don't think they're particularly good, either."
She put her hands on her hips, hat tipped a bit forward and obscuring some of her view. She left it there, though, thinking it made her look pretty cool, with her wild red hair only reigned in by it sitting low on her head anyway.
"But I guess it makes it a lot easier for you to steal your energy, huh? If you've got grunts like that taking all the hits for you, you don't have to break your nails doing any of the heavy lifting. Complain all you want, though: I'm not going to make this easy for you!"
A new encounter had appeared, and she had no choice but to engage in the battle. Underleveled though she was, she was hoping some tactical playing would help her through.

"If it was up to me," Larimar said, slowly, as if she was an idiot and ze had to spell it out for her, "it'd be different; but I'm not the one summoning these morons, and we can't all get what we want, now, can we. Their stupidity is your gain - and that's my loss."
It didn't look like she was going to turn tail and run, not immediately - she seemed like the boastful kind, who'd fight zem just for being there. Running head-first at enemies lately hadn't turned out well -- maybe waiting for her approach and dodging then, sweeping with the blade when she was overbalancing, might work.
"But I'm feeling nice. How about this? You get a free shot at me. It wouldn't be sporting if I just cut your ******** neck without letting you try to hurt me first." There was something genuinely malicious about Larimar's smile. If it worked - and it'd work to some extent, although she'd probably peel off and run before she got too hurt, they always did - it was a good way to build reputation. "Unless you're too ******** chicken to even try to hurt me."Lithiasaur with larimar's penchant for dramatics, i figure we can finish this up in a few posts from each of us? trex misses, larimar stabs her just a little bit to prove ze could've gone Way worse, and then goes 'lol run off and lick your wounds' and watches her go. like a jerk. i need zem to get in at least one battle where ze wins LOL
