Dari was again left with nothing to do. He had already worked on his projects at the Order Mauvian HQ for several hours today. He came home to find Aunt Aunt Dia watching, the 20-Month-Old Twins. No one else was home, and none of those he could talk in front of. Grandma Di and Grandpa Dean were at work at the Engineering Company and Plant. Drew was still on Duty as a Police Officer. Dria was at Sovereign Heights - her new School and was attending Orientation. Dani, was attending Summer Camp. Hmm, this might be a good time to learn to fight some more. Hmm, who should he call this time? His mind settled on his good friend and mentor, Soleiyu. He went to a place in the house where Aunt Aunt Dia would not hear him and made the call on his Communicator. "Hey Soleiyu, This, is Dari. I'm wondering if you would consider helping me in battle training. Would you meet in the park in 15 min., please?"

It was an interesting request, and though Soleiyu was in the middle of his own projects, he couldn’t help but be curious when Dari sent the request. There was only a brief second where he debated on if he should go visit the little Mauvian or make up some excuse; he was really invested in what he was working on!
…But he didn’t want Dari to get hurt, and he had been so polite.
He’d already made up his mind before he’d really even thought about it. ‘I’ll be there,’ he promised. His projects could wait. Besides, who knew what trouble Dari would get into if he didn’t go check on him? And it was to prepare him for battle!
Soleiyu didn’t need to pack anything; he had a first aid kit in his subspace, just in case, and he sent out messages to his housemates in case they worried about where he was going before he hurried to the park to meet up with Dari.

Dari was seated in the lowest branch of a young oak tree, waiting for Soleiyu. Usually, he would have jumped down and greeted his mentor merrily, but this was not the time. He jumped down and sniffed Soleiyu's nose in greeting, then stepped back and bowed his head in respect. "Soleiyu, thank you for coming."

Soleiyu blinked at the closeness and stood a little straighter after the greeting. “Of course, I couldn’t ignore such a polite request. And, being prepared for something dangerous is incredibly important, Dari. I want to make sure you’re safe. Do you have any battle experience, or are we starting from scratch?”
Dari was only a kitten, and Soleiyu couldn’t help but suppose that he might not have gotten into too many scuffles. He hoped it stayed that way, but if it didn’t, Soleiyu wanted him to be taken care of. He wanted him to be able to protect himself.

Darius looked down. "No not really. I mean, Etamin has been teaching a little in my Human Glamour, but not much in my Cat Form. There have been a few other Cat who have been kind enough to teach me a little. But I've never had to actually use it..."

“Well. I’d rather you never had to, but the world isn’t a kind enough place for us to bank on that. Have you ever used that laser of yours before? It takes a lot of you.”
He pressed his paw to Darius’ forehead, perfectly in the middle of the star there. The emphasis was short lived; he set his paw back on the ground a second later. “If you focus enough, it can shoot a blast out. Usually it’s enough to stun someone, but it’ll make you tired. Honestly, that’s my fail safe, if I really need to get out. The more you practice, the less it’ll take out of you. So better to practice with people you trust and can give you a ride home if you need it.”
His tail twitched behind him. “But you can also work on your reflexes–try catching a string, or batting a ball back and forth. How are your claws? I’ve had to scratch people before, so try to keep them sharp. And make sure you eat a healthy diet, you need to be at your best. Especially because you’re still growing! Do you want to try your laser while you’re here? I’ll even stay still so you can try it on me and see how it works.”

Dari shook his head. "I didn't even know we had a Forehead laser..." he said touching his star with his own paw." "Interesting." He commented taking mental note of all that Soleiyu was teaching him. Forehead Laser, Reflexes: Catching String, Batting Balls -oo Claws - "Oh by the way, Soleiyu, I received an Enhancement recently - Mauvian Claws with the element of Grinding Sand!" Dari said excitedly. "And yes, I would like to try it, I want to practice everything (at least at some point) that might be needed."

Soleiyu blinked, surprised to hear that Dari had unlocked some special skill. He didn’t have anything of the sort for himself, so naturally he wanted to learn. “Oh? You’ll have to tell me how you did that.”
He didn’t want to experience it first hand, he just wanted to know what trouble Dari had gotten himself into that resulted in making him stronger!
“Here, I’m going to stand over here. I want you to focus. I want you to direct all of your energy into your forehead, you just have to visualize it. And then I want you to aim towards me. It happens quickly, so I might not be able to dodge, but that’s okay. I’ll be fine if it does hit me. I just want you to feel what it’s like and know how to use it, just in case you wind up in more trouble than your sandpaper claws can get you out of.”

Dari nodded, suddenly very shy. "Ah, well, Eternal Sailor Etamin finally took me to his Homeworld and a Sandstorm suddenly sprang up, separating us. I finally got to some shelter and found it happened to be one of the space pods that I realized in Memories that I escaped from the destruction of the planet in and made my way to Earth. Anyways, in the Memory, I saw my parents, Aker and Basket Ammun and it was they putting me in the pod... and their last words to me, before they launched me and were destroyed, were, "When you see Sailor Etamin again, in this life or the next, please forgive him. He knows not what he does." " Darius looked away for a moment and then said, "So I forgave him. And the sandstorm outside did a strange thing - it swirled up as an ethereal like thing and merged with me. And then was gone. Eternal Etamin stood before, with an odd look - according to him, he had been in a sort of holding space that was within the planet - he couldn't exactly explain it himself, but he also came back with the knowledge that when I had forgiven him, that was one burden of the heavily laden planet. For that, it granted me the Enhancement. I haven't the chance to use it yet." Dari seemed more upbeat about trying the Forehead Laser. "Alright." He closed his eyes and focused, putting every bit of force into his forehead Suddenly, a beam of silverish light came out of his forehead - and he knew immediately it missed - but by how much and how powerful was it?

Darius was such a small kitten, and he had so much weighing on his heart. Soleiyu had known that Dari was having some problems, so he was able to breathe something like a sigh of relief upon hearing that it sounded like he forgave his bonded Senshi–and got a new power out of it.
He didn’t have much of a chance to consider that before Dari was firing the laser from his forehead.
Soleiyu was fast, but he was also large, and even in his hurried state, the laser still hit his tail. Immediately, numbness flooded through him. His legs felt like jelly and he had to stand still–had to sit down to make sure he didn’t fall over.
“Oh, good. Your laser really packs a punch, Dari.” He knew that when he used the ability, it took a lot out of him–and Dari was smaller, and much less experienced than he was, so naturally he turned his attention to the kitten. “How are you feeling, are you okay? I can’t feel anything past my shoulders.”

Kyuseisha no Hikari Is this okay? I can change it if need be! biggrin Dari had to sit down himself for a moment. He was breathing hard, yet, somehow, he was not as winded as he thought. "Strange." He commented, when he got his breath back. "It feels like I've done this before - but I can't remember when. It seems so long ago, and that I'm really out of shape though." He paused and looked at his mentor, "Oh dear, Master Soleiyu, are you alright?" He asked with a sound of panic in his voice. "Did I hurt you?"

Soleiyu couldn’t help but laugh softly when Dari said he was a bit winded–and then again, when Dari seemed to worry about him so much.
“I’m fine, Dari. It’ll pass. I’m not hurt, it’s just all tingly. You did a good job, I’m proud of you. You can just call me Soleiyu, everything else is a mouthful.” Even if he supposed he should be beaming with pride. Of course he loved anything that stroked his ego, but now wasn’t the time to bask in it when poor Dari seemed so worried.
“The whole point was to practice. You did very well. Maybe if you practice using that a bit more–when you’re safe–you’ll build up some tolerance for it. You’re very small, so it probably takes more out of you than it would me. I just want you to be safe.”
The Negaverse wouldn’t wait for him to catch his breath if he used it while he was in trouble, so best to make sure he understood what he could do–and what it would cost–before he needed to use it.

Dari nodded. getting his breath back. "Ok, Soleiyu. Oh, and I think I have the perfect ball to bat." He softly grinned and pulled out his little gold ball with black and red and blue gems - as well as some Hieroglyphics. It had the most beautiful twinkling as he batted it back and forth (and yes it was a cat toy). "I got this from the Merchant. It reminds - well, I don't about 'reminds' - but it brings back feelings like I'm with my parents on Etamin again. And in a way it brings me peace." And a look of peace was on his face - though more in a way that peace gave him confidence to fight - if that made any sense...

Soleiyu blinked and tilted his head just slightly as he observed the little toy. “Oh, that’s wonderful then, Dari.” He looked like he was enjoying himself, though he wasn’t entirely sure which merchant he was talking about.
“I’m glad you’ve got something that comforts you. Treasure it and take good care of it. Ugh,” he stretched, and some of the feeling seemed like it was returning. “Maybe we should get out of here for tonight. Especially since you did such a good job. Maybe we’ll practice this again. With a different target, perhaps. Next time I’ll bring some food so we can recover a bit of energy. And, get you to grow up big and strong.”

Dari jumped up and looked at the sun, which was starting to dip beneath the trees. "Is it really that late?" He put his cat toy back into subspace. "Daddy will be home soon, I should be home to greet him." He grinned at Soleiyu and said, "Thank you Soleiyu! Have a good night. See you soon." And with that he dashed off home.
