That last bit tripped Alexander up in his contemplation of the run, right before the dog running at him physically tripped him up. His feet caught up on themselves as he tried to avoid the dog to no avail, ankle sweeping against ankle and quickly turning the jogger into a surprise tumbler.
Worried for the dog, above all else, Alexander's hands shot forward to scoop the cream, brown, and black dog into his arms, pressing the good boy against his chest. His head bowed forward as the big man did his best to turn the fall into a roll, spinning him and the dog along the ground until Alex landed on his back.
His arms opened up, head craning upwards to look at the thankfully uninjured dog. He let out a sigh of relief as the dust settled around them, one hand coming up to scratch the dog's ear. Just pet the random dog you ran into, that's the smart idea.
"Hey there boy, are you okay? Gave me a fright, you know." He said to the dog. He didn't expect an answer, but after some things he had seen it wouldn't be the wildest thing.
