The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
He was walking back home, a few bags from the store in hand one of which had a new star charm attached, in no real hurry even as the sun set. It wasn't too hot today and it was a peaceful walk, not too loud or filled with an abundance of people as many were currently at one of the many festivities going on in the city right now. It was as he was walking by a small garden that he noticed the brief flashes of light out of the corner of his eye. Pausing in his steps, Hyeon turned to look fully at what it was that he had glimpsed.
Fireflies, dozens if not a hundred of them were flitting about the flowers and bushes of the garden. That in of it's self would be enough for him to stop and watch them as they flew around for a bit, however these ones were different then the normal fireflies he saw. The color range these ones had seemed to be the entire crayon box and not just yellow or orange as could see them with blues, greens, reds, and more. There was one he could even see that was close in color with the main color of his powered up outfit.
His eyes moved from bug to bug as they put on a miniature light show for anyone lucky enough to see them. However he felt a mix of awe at the sight and also that they were somehow off in some way. What is was exactly, he didn't know, beyond of course the colors they were displaying. He took a step closer to them but didn't try to touch them, unsure if there would be any sort of effect in doing so. There had been many instances of random animals that caused effects in the city after all.
Unfortunately his caution was not enough as one of the fireflies ended up flying too close to him and brushed against his hand when he didn't notice it's proximity. Hyeon let out a yelp of surprise at the electric shock he got from the brief touch, jerking his hand up to hold it close to his chest. "Note to self need even more distance from the random fauna that show up in this city." He said out loud as he stepped away to put more distance between him and the lightning bugs.
Giving them one last long look he turned away and headed back home. After all he would rather not get another shock from one on accident and frankly he would like to talk this over with Seung. Maybe between the two of them, or three if Terry joined in the talk, could figure out what exactly was off about the bugs. Though seeing how little they knew about the other random fauna of the festive times, he doubted anything would come of it. It would still be worth sharing the info of their effect at least so they would be warned to avoid touching them.
