◊ NONCHALANT Cley is rather used to going with the flow of whatever next big thing his parents threw themselves into. It takes allot to get him to lose his cool or focus.
◊ PASSIVE With being used mostly as a prop for his parents, he’s gotten good at letting things wash over them without actually taking any of it to heart. It also helps with hiding disappointment.
◊ INNOVATIVE Having parents who can and have drop or pick up anything at the flip of a coin has made Cley rather inventive. He enjoys learning and picking apart just about anything put in front of him. It’s definitely helped a time or two when things inexplicably fall apart at different galas or charity functions.
◊ SELF-CONSCIOUS Being under the scrutiny of not just his parents but whomever they deem important has made him vastly uncomfortable in his own skin. He tends to stray from people’s eyesights and whenever he is talking to someone he’s anxious that he’s boring them or constantly saying the wrong thing.
◊ MODEST In hand with his self-conscious behavior, Cley doesn’t think much of the things he’s good at. Sure he can name all the lakes on Jupiter or create paper cranes but can it help with the starving children in Honduras? He doesn’t think so.
◊ INQUISITIVE Cley enjoys puzzles and challenges and when bored at functions and when not under his parent’s gaze will occasionally create some for himself to do. He also enjoys learning about just about anything that catches his eye. His wikipedia search history is a massive black hole and he’s rather ok with that.

CHILDHOOD Clemont was born to rather auspicious parents who were never quite satisfied with what they were given. As children they had never truly wanted for anything and now as adults they worked jobs they were good at and got paid moderately well. But somehow they garnered some sort of “itch.” First they went on trips, then they started investing in different businesses, and it was when they were planning yet another gala that Jacqueline fell pregnant with Cley. At first they were a bit unsure what to do with him seeing as they hadn’t exactly planned on being parents. They toted him around to all their various events and after hearing so often of how adorable and well-behaved and how much more money people were willing to part with when faced with a cute child did they hand Cley his first job as a professional prop. Cley doesn’t think his parents are bad people per se; for all their selfish wants they do go above and beyond for any charities they were apart of. They were just sort of sucky parents. The one good thing they did do, besides not having other kids, was allow him to spend time with his grandparents whenever they wanted “Jackie and Vincent Time” from days to occasionally weeks on end. His grandparents had moved from France about a year after his birth to be closer to him and it was possibly the only reason he hadn’t lost it just yet. When he got his letter to Hogwarts-and thankfully not Beauxbatons much to his grandmother’s consternation-he was anxious at having to be around so many new people but mostly relieved that he would be missing a bulk of his parent’s social events.

SCHOOL YEARS

Cley entered Hogwarts and was sorted into Ravenclaw which sort of soothed his grandmother's still stung pride about Beauxbatons. It took him awhile to meet and make friends as he wasn't actually used to talking to other kids his own age but, he did it! He even joined a few clubs which furthered his social agenda, but for once in a good way. It was actually in getting these friendships and talking with other children that Cley truly began to understand how rather stunted and potentially worrying his childhood had been. Or was currently since a little thing like school wouldn't stop his parents from passing him around at parties to gush about his school accolades (like they even knew, by fourteen he had just resulted in given them cheat cards so they'd stop making awkward conversation).

There was something else his friendships unwittingly allowed him to discover: he rather liked skirts. Dresses too, but he skirts were his favorite. Cley had had a moment of potential gender confusion and dysphoria not knowing or understanding if he was still a He or if this was his way of becoming a She and other such things. It took a while and allot of research (and one extremely embarrassing talk with the school matron) but he eventually settled that he was in fact male and liked being male but he also enjoyed the full spectrum of expressing himself.

In the winter of his fifth year, Cley's parents took him aside to tell him the "great news" that they were trying for another baby. Stunned, he told them they were being incredibly selfish and idiotic to bring another child into this fallacy of a family. His parents were actually surprised he felt this way as he'd never said anything before but he wisely pointed out that even if he had, would they even have listened? He spent the rest of the holidays with his grandparents who were equally stunned as him and upset they were so truly wrapped into themselves to miss his feelings. That summer, his parents attempted to become closer to him which instantly made him anxious and defensive but after some talks he gradually warmed to their advances. Which of course blew up rather spectacularly in his face the next summer before his last year. His mother was pregnant. Joy of all joys. Still stunned at their stupidity (or was it naivety?), Cley moved the remainder of his belongings to his grandparents to keep until he could get his own residence once he graduated.

In February, his baby sister Cécile Yvonne was born and by April, she had two nurseries; her official one at the home and the unofficial one at their grandparents. The elders were incensed; they had barely had it in them to raise Cley, they couldn't bare starting over again. They tried every way to get Vincent and Jackie to take a better approach at parenting besides taking her for days on end to events and parties, then dropping her off with them for weeks. They even suggested a nanny but Jackie didn't like the idea of another woman handling her child (the hypocrisy caused Cley to tearfully laugh to the concern of his friends when he read this in a letter). Both generations came together to discuss their galivanting ways and even attempted an intervention but the changes barely lasted a month. The Vachones were exhausted. Cley felt awful for them and just exasperated with his parents and after talking with them, came up with a plan. He would talk to his parents and convince them to sign over guardianship to himself and care for his little sister. He was already doing so regardless whenever he was home from breaks and had even taken time directly after the birth to be there for her. While his grandparents understood his reasoning, they felt as though they had failed their grandchildren for this to happen and promised Cley that as long as he passed his NEWT's, they would cover any and every additional expense while raising Cécile. He was thankful for it but managed to talk them down to just child expenses instead of everything as he felt guilty, like he was taking advantage of their misplaced guilt.

POST GRADUATION It literally took an afternoon tea for Cley to convince his parents of the guardianship and another before he had the papers signed, a sleeping Cécile in arms, and was waving Jackie and Vincent off on another "business cruise." Becoming a single parent directly after graduating was an interesting puzzle, but one he was confident he'd eventually master. Then Cécile had her first fever and he lost that confidence rather quickly. It took him a while for him to gain some of it back and not keep thinking he was doing a terrible job and this was a terrible idea. A long while if Cley was being honest; but getting to watch his sister grow and become her own person and seeing the tiny milestones he was certain their parents missed of himself, it was truly worthwhile. He decided to get a job at a daycare once Cécile was old enough so he could finally generate his own income but also because he got a very decent discount for Cécile's registration. Even though she was now going to "big girl school," he continued to work there actually finding joy in teaching tiny humans.

◊ EMPATHETIC Cecil is good at reading the room and prominent emotions in that room and reacting accordingly. After watching her brother reign in her classmates, it’s become almost instinctual to help in navigating hers’ and other’s feelings.
◊ AIRY Cecil tends to have her head in the clouds at times not fully focusing on what’s actually happening. If something is confusing or disorganized, she tends to just ignore it until she can handle it. This unfortunately also leads to sometimes forgetting whatever it was she was ignoring.
◊ SELFLESS She’s always willing to share whatever she has be it food, toys, crayons, and even her time. She’ll help with homework, coloring, cooking, pulling weeds, if you need it (and she remembers) she’ll definitely be there!
◊ FLAMBOYANT Cecil loves colors and contrasts and patterns and sees no reason why they all shouldn’t mesh. Accordingly, she doesn’t see a reason why groups of people shouldn’t mesh. Strangers are only friends you haven’t met yet!

CHILDHOOD Cecil was born to Vincent and Jacquiline Vachone but she doesn’t remember much of them. She knows they’re her parents but she mainly knows her big brother Cley. He took care of her since she was a baby and when she got a little order, he started working at her daycare too. She loves being around him and helping him and their grandparents with any and everything. Sometimes when Cley needs “adult time” she hangs out with her grandparents who take her on fun outings to museums, parks, beaches, and her favorite tea shop. But Cecil also enjoys when she and Cley have similar outings or even just them at home trying another recipe he found or attempting a sewing pattern she found.
