Misplaced (13) : Things are just vanishing. Maybe it’s the heat or the chaos of the times, but even if you swear you put something somewhere, it might be gone. Maybe as quickly as you exit a room and return. Usually, it’s only small things; sometimes you might hear a strange rattling just before something disappears, but once it’s gone, it’s gone. So far, it’s mostly things that aren’t too big, but recently there have been reports of cars just disappearing, too…

Bellalunae was so happy to finally have the room to herself. She had her comfy bed with lots of fluff, her food bowl filled with shrimp/chicken/and gravy all cooked by the hotel's chief, her little black fan, and most of all her favorite...

Wait where was her favorite toy. It was the cutest haunted mouse ever and it squeaked. She swore she placed it right next to the bed. She always placed it there. It never moved, never ever moved, that toy was always there. Right there. She frantically rushed around the entire room. She quickly jumped out of her comfy bed and looked under the rug, under Sabrina's bed and desk. She searched the whole room to no avail. "No I can't lose that," She said in the saddest meow ever, "that was the first toy Sabrina ever gave me..."

Now as she thought about her disappearing toy. She thought about how her family would probably disappear one day. Since she knew that her being here probably wouldn't last forever and it was just part of her cover. but part of her secretly did hope it would last awhile. Since even though she would never admit it, she really loved her 'fake' family. They were really nice people, and nice wasn't something she grew up knowing. After all black cats are bad luck to most people, but not her family for some reason. Her human girl seemed to love the scary stuff in life and even loved haunted mysterious and Halloween. Plus she even treated her like a princess and the black shade of fur didn't seem to throw her in the slightest. It was weird to her but being that she was nice wasn't really something she was supposed to be either.

Then she started laughing at the thought of her seeing her as a human. She even thought that her human physical appearance looked so much like a ghost that most were scared of it, but part of her realized Sabrina would probably just run and hug her. Not that she ever planned to show her that side but if she did she knew she would never even flinch. Sabrina was such a good person it really confused her sometimes.

She shook her head quickly and realized her mission was getting sidetracked. She needed to find that fluffy bat before Sabrina got home. Since it helped her cover but it also made Bellalunae sleep easier knowing that she had something to cuddle with. After living on the street for so long and having no one. Knowing that someone cared enough to give her even a small gift like that. Well it made her feel what was the word... wanted? Yeah that was it. She had never felt like that, literally she wondered what her life was for. Even being apart of the chaos was great but she never felt wanted or special. She felt like she was just existing without a purpose in her little life. Until that one fateful day when a family had come to find a spot for a new hotel. She could remember peaking around the alley corner and looking at these people standing outside a space for sale. She could see they were thinking hard, and they had a little girl who had the biggest smile she had ever seen. She knew that was what a happy family was, and it was something she had never known. After all she was abandoned in a shelter when she was a little kitten and then got adopted but they didn't want her. So they left her in a box outside of a park with all her toys and food. So she was able to survive but after awhile she knew it was all her. It was long after that she discovered her chaos powers, but still it was a past she couldn't forget.

Seeing that family though she was happy to see that some people got that happy family life even if she didn't. She remembered walking out of that alleyway and that little girl ran away from her parents just to say hi to her. Now must cats would have run but she just stood there awaiting that sweet girl to wrap her arms around her. She just stood there and let her love on her, more surprised that she wanted too. Why did someone happy like that want to give her love or care to even approach her? She didn't have much time to think about that when the father picked up the girl and the mom reached down and scooped her in her arms. After that it was all history, they took her to a vet, tried to make sure she wasn't just a lost cat, and when they got the okay - she became their family. Even though she'd never admit it, that day was the happiest in her life. That is why she needed to find that toy, she needed to find that gift her love one gave her.

She looked under the keyboard, in the desk drawers, in the bathroom, and finally under the bed mattress. No sign of the toy anywhere. "Maybe it went outside the room," she thought since sometimes she would leave the room while her food was being served. So she quickly exited the room, ran all the way down the stairs avoiding customers as she did, and went out the front automatic doors of the hotel. She took a deep breath, went back inside the doors, and ran back up the stairs. Looked around to see if she saw any customers and then quickly jumped and opened the room door that had shut behind her. That was when she noticed the toy sitting on Sabrina's bed.

"Now that was weird," she thought as she jumped on the bed grabbed her toy, and went straight to bed. Maybe this was all a dream she thought as she cuddled her toy and went to bed.
