★ Cassius is a calm and gentle person. He's friendly and approachable, often sought out as a mediator due to his fair and unbiased way of solving problems. His social charm comes from having a versatile personality; he is able to adapt to others' behavior with ease. He can be free-spirited and liberal like Donovan or sassy and sarcastic like Xyla. It comes off as fake to most at first, but Cassius genuinely does understand and enjoy these traits and mindsets. Despite this, Cassius has a strong sense of self and refuses to behave in a way he doesn't like, such as being arrogant and power-hungry like Dynus or cruel like Darius.

★ If one were to ask Cassius about his early life, he'd say it was a normal and uneventful one. He grew up in the Great City, raised in an orphanage as he lost his parents while too young to even remember them. While not a perfect upbringing, it wasn't a bad environment; the kids were cared for, were able to receive proper educations, and the madam of the house loved them. Cassius was unfortunately never adopted, so he aged out of the orphanage. The madam helped him when she could, of course, but her priority were those still in her care, so he had to mostly make his own way. Which he did with relative ease as his friendly disposition charmed people, making it easy for him to find work and shelter. Eventually, he was able to settle in an apartment complex and worked as a veterinarian at a large animal clinic. That was his life for a while. It was simple, largely repetitive, and extremely uneventful; but, he was proud of and enjoyed it immensely. But, all good things usually have to come to an end and Cassius, unfortunately, experienced this in a brutal, irreparable way.
★ This disruption came in the form of a Human supremacy activist group. These sort of organizations pop up every so often in the Great City, which is a hotspot of interracial coexistence, but never cause more trouble than being outspoken and unremarkably organized. So, no one paid them much mind at all when they first made themselves known. But, shortly after that, non-humans began going missing. Some were never seen again while others were found in severely altered conditions; Amari would be found without their ears and tails, Elves would have their ears surgically altered, Demons will have lost their horns, tails and wings. It was a horrifying trend that was quickly linked to the activists and despite consistent arrests, it continued for years. Cassius was lucky enough to live a quiet life for some time; the Great City had a low Angel population, less than a hundred in total, and the majority of them were too high in society to be touched. He didn't remain lucky, however, as the group seeped its way into his quiet, friendly area in the form of a pet owner who came to his place of work for his dog. Cassius was unfortunate enough to be assigned to him and he was friendly at first, so Cassius didn't find any reason to be worried.
★ Not until it was already too late. It was only a couple of days after this encounter that he was jumped and abducted while on his way home. He spent days locked up with others who were also taken. During that time, Cassius lost a lot. His halo had been torn from his head and shattered while his secondary pair of wings were removed. He would have lost both pairs of wings had the place been raided by the military, but the damage was done. Even though the group had been dealt with, Cassius never felt safe in the Great City again. It was the madam of his orphanage, an Elven woman, who suggested he leave the city behind and start somewhere knew. Through her, he was able to gain entry to Nel'Vari as she gave him ownership of her old family farm in the hidden city of Elves, and he left the Great City immediately.
★ Settling into Nel'Vari and making a place for himself wasn't all that simple. The people of Nel'Vari are weary and always cautious of outsiders. No one was cruel to him and many were sympathetic to his situation, but making friends with them was harder than it was to do with the people of the Great City. But, eventually, he was able to connect with them and he blended into the community with ease before long. Cassius, who wasn't too much of a farmer, had created a critter sanctuary out of the farmland that the Elves and other residents of Nel'Vari found charming. He never intended to leave Nel'Vari, finding comfort and peace within its isolation from the rest of the world, but he found inspiration and confidence after he met Nirvana, the guardian dragon of Nel'Vari. She encouraged him to not close off the rest of the world in a way that was gentle, sympathetic, and in no way forceful. Not wanting to disappoint her or live his life behind a wall of fear, Cassius took her encouragement seriously and made his way to Withergate, the monstropolis of the world.
★ He never expected his life to turn out the way it had. Cassius had purchased a mediocre apartment in Withergate and made a small living on doing small odd jobs for the citizens of Withergate. He made friends, gaining popularity with ease thanks to the novelty of being new to the city and his own charm. It was mere coincidence that he and Darius crossed paths. It was at the carnival's grand opening; it was so crowded that it felt as if the entire city was there. Darius was there for observation purposes; he and Cassius were never supposed to meet. But, they did, and after a few months of chipping away at Darius' public image, their romance advanced fairly quickly. They dated for about a year before becoming engaged, but didn't marry for another ten years. It was Cassius' reservations to what his new position would be that stalled them, but he eventually became comfortable with it. He's been married for almost sixty years and couldn't be happier with his life.

sᴇᴄʀᴇᴛs ★ Cassius personally owns at least one of each domesticated animal and keeps them on his farm at Nel'Vari, which is pretty much a self-made sanctuary for them and the wild critters that visit. Darius knows this, as do his friends in Nel'Vari, but he otherwise tends to not ever mention it. He is mildly embarrassed by his collection of pets. ★ Halos are a mystery to the other races. There are a lot of ideas about them, some logical and others nonsensical. The truth is rather mundane. The halo is crafted by the child's parents during the pregnancy and given to them upon birth. It's made of a metal alloy found in the Angel homeland and is heavily enchanted with spells so that it glows, is able to float above the wearer's head, and grow with its wearer. They're very sentimental objects.

ᴇxᴛʀᴀ ★ Cassius' favorite animals are bunnies. He has a garden at Withergate Castle built specifically for him by Darius that's teeming with the critters. ★ While Cassius can still fly, the loss of his secondary pair of wings has severely limited it. He can't fly for more than an hour where he used to be able to fly for an entire day. ★ Cassius' crown is made from the shattered remnants of his halo and it was designed specifically to honor both his simplistic ways and his connection to Nel'Vari. It is very sentimental to him and he is always wearing it. ★ Before he got involved with Darius, Cassius had never touched a sword or bow before in his life. But, Darius considered it essential that he learn to defend himself, so he taught him how to use them.
