The heat wave, it seemed, had finally broken somewhat--although it wasn't exactly cool, it wasn't as oppressively hot as it had been, and so it was nice, to go out on the porch of her apartment and lean over the railing and enjoy the breeze.
Aimee sighed contentedly, and glanced back throguh the open door.
"Come out and join me, Hattie, it's lovely out." She'd gotten the impression that something might be up with her girlfriend, but she wasn't certain, and maybe she could find out if they just....had a nice talk.
Which they ought to do more of, she supposed. Aimee was usually more interested in other things, but. Eh. An actual relationship wasn't just the fun parts that came with hookups.

Hattie had been trying not to let the whole other witch fuku bother her, especially when the other senshi was clearly the bad kind of crazy. Clearly aimee wouldn’t want that as a girlfriend. But. She knew herself to not be completely…normal and that was one of the things that Aimee liked but…
She was gnawing on her thumb nail, worrying, though when she heard the request to join Aimee outside, she nodded and came at once, moving to stand beside her, looking out for a moment before looking up at the girl with a happy sigh. “...Can I ask you something? I ran into a senshi the other day, and it. Made me…I mean. She was in a fuku kind of like mine. Very witch themed…but she was crazy! Like. She said she could hear “the fae” laughing and talking to her, so it wasn’t even the good kind of crazy but.”
Drawing in a breath, Hattie tried to compose her thoughts and finally just plowed on. “You wouldn’t find a better looking witch flavored senshi and corrupt them, would you? I’m the only one for you, aren’t I?”

Once Hattie was outside, Aimee turned her full attention on her. She'd hoped that the full force of it might wear down Hattie's barriers, get her talking, though it seemed she didn't need to try very hard. The story came out so quickly, so easily, with barely any prompting...
Ah, it must have been bothering her Sweet Girl a lot. She reached up and gently twisted one of Hattie's curls around her finger, frowning.
"Of course I would never," she said. One Sweet Girl was more than enough, really. "Hattie, I didn't just pick you out because of your fuku. I like you, and I wanted you. Some other little witch isn't going to steal me away from you, I promise."
It as so incredibly easy to say, but honestly...where would she ever find someone else, whose devotion was as full-force as her Hattie's? Could she ever make lightning strike twice? She very sincerely doubted that. No, there was only one person for her.
"Sweet Girl, you're it for me."

Hattie swallowed but managed a small smile, nodding and leaning into the touch, even if it was just on her hair. “I’m glad. I know it was a stupid thing to worry about but. I guess worries can just be stupid sometimes. And then again, I know you’re amazing and beautiful and perfect and I’m just this weird little gremlin who’s…”
She broke off, the realization hitting her like a blow and for a moment, her eyes were hidden behind the glare of her glasses. “Who has nothing else in the world but you. So if you did ever move on to another…to someone else…I wouldn’t have anything.”
Though. She could adapt. Hattie wasn’t useless or stupid, she knew that much was the truth but…still. She didn’t want to have to, and the very idea that she was it for Aimee…
It helped.
“We should get married.” She blinked and looked up at Aimee, mouth slightly open with the ease of the plan. “We really should. It would just make things easier and then I would know that you were mine forever no matter what.”

Ah. Was that all.
"You don't worry small, do you, Sweet Girl," she sighed. It was true--she had constructed things exactly that way,so that Hattie only had her. She hadn't really considered how that might make a brand new insecurity, one that she would have to navigate around.
She leaned in, pressing her lips to Hattie's, and held her eyes.
"Hattie. Yes. Of course I'll marry you," she said, without an ounce of hesitation. "I was thinking of asking you myself." Because she needed it. Needed Hattie bound to her in every possible way. And now, here it was, Hattie's idea to take that final step.
She couldn't have come up with a better plan if she'd tried. How magnificent.
"I don't want to lose you. I certainly don't want to walk away from you." She dropped her voice, soft and sad. "I lost my parents. My brother. I--I need to know that you'll always be mine. So, yes."
They could settle the details another time. Buy rings. Make all of it as official as possible. For now, what mattered, to Aimee, was asserting her commitment. Making Hattie understand that as much as Hattie was bound to Aimee, Aimee was bound to her as well.
Wedding rings would serve as a fine marker for that.

Oh. Oh that had been so simple. For a moment, Hattie felt utterly stunned, and then she gave a laugh, pleased and terribly excited. “Oh…I…I had expected…I’m. Oh.”
She hugged Aimee tightly then, nodding. “You’ll never lose me. I’m yours in every way possible, I promise you, Aimee. For now and always, no matter what happens. I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth. You can’t be rid of me even if you try!”
Well. If she tried, maybe she could but. That wasn’t something Hattie had any desire to think about at this time…or at any time, to be truthful.
“I”m very excited to become your wife. And I’ll always be your sweet girl. Always. Always your Hattie.”
No matter what.
