Thal 1
He was holding the triplets to the best of his ability and one after the other he wiped their mouths and brushed what little hair they had. He was on a secluded part of the property. Terr was recovering quietly nearby from her huge post natal adventure across tendaji.

Leaving him with his new kids, he was so busy memorizing their faces that he didn't hear anything except the babies contented gurgles. They were so small and delicate. But they had still made the journey.

He sighed contendedly and rocked them back and forth, all of that worry for nothing...a twig snapped.

Nin 1

Nin was ranging around the ranch as she often did. Sometimes she would see wildlife, sometimes she would find injured birds to take care off.

Today she found something else entirely. "Thal? Who's kids are you babysitting? They are cute!" Nin bustled over and took one of the babies, who were obviously a mix of Water and Leaf and ...Ice. She squinted at the eyes on one of them..the same yellow eyes and blue hair she had fallen in love with so long ago.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" She shrieked. "YOU HAD KIDS WITHOUT TELLING US?"

One of them even had Thal's skin color, and his crystals along with another one.

"THALLASSA!"

Einsol, by contrast, had been having a restful day. Her foot still throbbed a bit, still tender from mostly-healed bones after an unlucky snapjaw bite. She'd been recovering for the past few weeks, during which Kiyelt and Nin had taken steps. The family had marked new territory and cleared them off, no real trouble. Her papa had even stolen a couple of the adolescent ones right out from under their mother. She wasn't quite sure if he'd snagged the one that bit her, but it didn't matter. The young healer counted them even, as she'd probably been kicking the critter full in the jaw.

She'd just got up to have a walk around, something her master and her mother no longer made noise about, so long as she had her stick. She'd been sure to wear her boots and change the splint, so when Ninaeleth's outrage rang across the whole ranch, her daughter paused and tried to remember if she'd left anything out this time. Nothing came to mind until the words inside all that ruckus parsed. Kids. Thalassa. Was pretty sure he was out courtin' somebody, so that tracks. Seems a lil' quick for him, but I'd better go check anyway.

With her not-quite-a-spear for support, Ein limped out the back, towards the noise.

Thal 2

See everyone thought his Dad was the scary one..which he was but he had also never seen his sweet mother this angry before. He did note that she covered the child's ears that she was holding so she could screech at him at full volume. The baby giggled.

"Well If you would just let me explain..." She cut him off though and he was unable to finish. He wondered just how often she needed to take a breath. Family was her most important thing but he couldn't make her feel better if she wouldn't let him finish.

Nin 2

"Of all the irresponsible things you could have done! I had thought something was wrong, you seemed withdrawn for months, your Dad said if it was serious that you would have told us what was going on but THIS?!"

She was very near frothing at the mouth and she was sure that the whole ranch and maybe their distant neighbors could hear her but she couldn't bring even a small part of her to care.

"You obviously didn't think that INFORMING YOUR FAMILY THAT THERE HAD BEEN SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONS WAS OF ANY IMPORTANCE."

"And where is their Mother? Or did you neglect to inform her you had a family too!"

Yes, that was her mother. There were even notes of her elder brother in there, underneath the dressing down being projected. Einsol had never been quite sure why the woman never taught musicians. Lovely singing voice, and she could comfortably make herself heard two farms away. It had never come up, though, so that remained a mystery. More important stuff t'wonder at anyhow. Like where this lady of his is stashed- Is that the cart he borrowed a month back?

From the back of the house, the yellow-dressed girl had hobbled around the side. There in plain view from her route, sat an unhitched cart, mostly filled with straw and thick blankets. The woman nestled within those blankets looked to be dead asleep, so the young healer shrugged and turned away. She had even breathing, by the sound of her, and deep circles under her eyes. Ein would've made more noise giving her a once over than she'd like, so there was no need to disturb the poor woman. Especially if, as context said, she was a new mother of three. Thr girl moved on.

Soon enough, she rounded the corner of another outbuilding, coming upon her own dear mama and Thal, both with the mentioned babies in hands. The youngest daughter limped forward, her stick keeping the weight even for the moment, and came up to her brother's shoulder. She peered down at the little faces, over to Thal, and back up to full-voiced Mama. Once a pause was found to draw fresh breath, she piped up. "He's been a stupid, but could we lower our voices, please? Only so many hands t'cover six lil' ears, an' there's a woman dead asleep 'round the barn. Looks t'need her sleep somethin' dear."

His savior! Well hopefully. Ein was always a good grounding rod for the family dynamics, unless there was Ushi involved or it was Ein herself that was riled up into a stick wielding frenzy. She was scarier than Kynin and his teeth with that thing but for now it was being used as a sort of cane.

"What happened to your foot Ein?" He was distracted from his own potential skinning as his little sister was obviously hurt and he had been...busy dealing with the kids and traveling all over.

He kept one eye on his Mother though. She was like as not to snap at him like a 'trotter when you took your eyes off them.

"Their mother is nearby recuperating as Ein said behind the barn, she might in fact need yours and Ein's help. Triplets took a heavier toll as did escaping her abusive b*****d of a husband. I just got back and was tending to the littles before coming to the main house with them and Terrwyn..their Mother. I'm responsible both for her children and her continued safety. If he had hackles they would be raised at the invisible leafling threat to the northwest.

Nin 3

Nin sucked her lips in at Ein's admonishment. Though the kidlets seemed to think that her getting mad at Thal was really funny. Since she obviously was not mad at them. The one she held flailed his little bloo arms and patted her face as if asking for more haranguing. "Not now precious she crooned." Booping him on the nose and feeling the grandmotherly spell web settle around her heart. These were indeed her grandchildren after all. She threaded long fingers throught the sheaf of fiery reddish hair. Such a relief from the Kiyelt blue that seemed to plague the rest of the family, besides Honi and Kina who had miraculously managed to get her own lovely teal. Darn his strong genetics anyway! She glared at Thal who DEF got this bulltweet from KIYELT'S side of the family.

Then his and Ein's words penetrated the red fog that surrounded her mind.

"Abusive? He hit her?" Of all the things to cause this..well that wasn't such a bad reason..even Ein knew that that sort of behaviour deserved retaliation with a bigger stick and Nin had no doubt that Ein would have gone after the Mother's..ex husband as he would be known...until they could shred up their marriage paperwork. Her mind buzzed busily, distracted from her sons flaying.

Now that things were getting a little quieter, iif not necessarily calmer, Ein had a chance to hear Thal's side of things. A glance down at the end of her leg, as though she'd forgotten her injury for a moment. More likely she just hadn't been thinking about it. "Hmm? Oh this. Snaptrotter bit it while Honi an' I were out tryin' to get out of a nest. Turns out it broke a buncha bones in there, so I'm just gettin' back on it again." A shrug, dismissing it for the moment. Instead she listened to his tale, processing one thing at a time. Tan little hands played with a blue braid that dropped down as she did.

"Okay. Makes sense to me. Not sure why y'didn't just let the guardfolk know what was goin' on an' what you were gonna do about it. Probably steal his shinbones t'make sure he couldn't hit stuff so good anymore. Or just kill 'im." Wait, no, authorities get all upset about deaths when there's other people involved. Is dueling allowed in Tale, tho'? On consideration, the straightforward way didn't quite work like that. But mostly because she didn't know much about foreigner law. Details aside, though... "So y'had to steal a mate from another tribe an' escape across a couple deserts. With cubs in hand an' their mama in tow. An' y'didn't ask us fer help?

Mama, sorry t'interrupt you. Just gonna ask y'keep it down a little so my new sis can sleep. I'm gonna sit down so you can use my stick; my dumb big bro deserves a thrashing over the fence."

He frowned. "I'm very sorry you got hurt." He would much rather it had been his leg not hers. He wanted his sisters to be safe and happy at all times. He knew that wasn't always possible and that they took after their mother to an extent but they were still his sisters and deserving of good things only.

"Yes, abusive, he hit her right across the face, she was covered in bruises and asked me to help her out of her situation in one of the most finite ways. As it obviously turned out her children were mine and not Finleys. She wanted this and I agreed and I promptly fell in love with her. She is a huntress and our hobbies match." Plus she was a fiery little minx that he couldn't get enough of.

"So much for savior," he murmured at Einsol. "I saved her from a lifetime of misery only doing what she asked. I did not intend for there to be three babies but that was not my decision to make.

She smirked at Einsol. "Thank you darling." But his words had finally caught her attention. "If she was being beaten I can see why you did what you did, but to deprive us of being a part of this very important part of your life. To put yourself and your lady and unborn children in danger..." She grabbed a fistfull of his lush mane. "and not inform your family. That is a mistake you won't soon make again will you?" She glared right into his eyes.

The girl shrugged. "Wasn't your fault. Had to put my foot to his jaw; someone was gonna get a nibble. Snappers got moved on later." They'd been sloppy anyway, not seen the signs until they were all but in a new nest. There remained some investigating, see what drove a new mother and her brood so close to their ranch. It wasn't the right season for new territories. Something to worry over later. For now, she had to reach down and hold a tiny hand, still tugging on the end of her braid. This one had her brother's eyes and pelt, tho' his hide and crystals seemed more his mother's.

Mentally, the youngest sister squirreled away some notes for looking her new sibling over. Knowing how wounds happened helped. Also she had to steal someone's bones if ever they met. "Sounds like it was gonna be sticky no matter what. Y'did what y'needed, an' that's as it should be." With her eldest brother nearby, she shifted her weight from the dtick to his broad back, managing what she could of a hug with both hands occupied. The grumbling bought her brother a bright and utterly guiltless smile. "Never said I was here to help. Not when y'didn't even send a message back to tell us. I'd drub yer shins myself if I had any footing. Could've helped, Thal."

Thal 5
Some days it was disturbingly evident who's twin Ein was. He had gotten lucky with Honi and Ny, in that they still supported him..well Honi did, Ny formed her own opinions he felt on a case by case basis. But Ein did as well and her way of thinking was more like Ushi's than the original triplets. She was still his younger sister though and way less of a pain in the butt than Ush. At least Ein understood the why of it if she frowned somewhat on his how.

"I wasn't sure until the last minute that they were even mine, didn't feel right to get the family in a huff if they were going to be pureblooded leafs anyway. Would have been harder to get her away from her good for nothing husband."

Nin 5
She understood why of course but she heartily agreed with Einsol. "Not even a messenger bird Thal!" She whispered...loudly. Trying to listen to Ein and get her point across to her dumb son at the same time. She could call him dumb in her head she had given birth to him.

He wasn't..most days.

"Ein is absolutely right, there better not be a next time but if there were we expect to be told so we can help. Even if the kids had been leaflings we could have helped in some way to get your lady out."

A nod, smile dimming somewhat as her brain worked at the problem, gnawing at it like to gristle on a bone. "'Kay. Can see that. Never smart t'kick a nest over without a plan." Without changing expression, Einsol reached up and flicked at her brother's nose. "But y'said he hit her? What's stoppin' him from teachin' his cubs the same, or hittin' them if they take more to her? Y'still goofed for not tellin' us, y'big stupid. We could'a helped with a backup scheme or somethin', like Mama says. Ushi's good at schemin'." Having expeessed her displeasure, the arms wiggled around Thalassa's broad shoulders as best they could, trying for a better hug.

Her chirpy tone lowered a bit, still trying to get the whole point across, not just derision. She herself might not have thought to call for help on the spot. "Y'did right. We're proud of ya. Doesn't mean your bein' dumb about it don't scare us. An' scared critters get pissed off; what'd ya think we'd be?" A pause, another thought bobbing up from the depths. Einsol often didn't think as quickly as her twin. That was what instincts were for. Her thought, instead, dragged problems down and chewed them to pieces, easily digestible. "How'd you get her out, anyway? Y'said you had to steal her from the birthing bed, and y'ain't got enough arms for four, even if three are cubs." Again, the braid got a tug, and dark blue fingers tried to slip tan grasping fronds free.
