The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn’t be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it’s incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it’s just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there’s something undeniably magical about it.
Tonight was a lovely time for the family to spend time out in their yard.
Mercy wanted to go to the festival, but after that whole portal fiasco, she was content to just chill at home with her boys. Speaking of, her little tyrants apparently liked to be around their father today because they were currently napping with him in the hammock. Granted, she didn't think Cass was one to rest in one of those, but she could see the benefits. She often found herself falling asleep in the hammock when she just wanted to rest and read a book outside. A smile made its way on her face as she observed the trio just resting while the pretty meteors that they were supposed to be watching together flew by. Looking up at the sky, Mercy watched the pretty colors fly by.
It really was a beautiful sight.
To think if she hadn't survived the attack that left her in the hospital all those years ago, she wouldn't be where she is today. A noise caught her attention, causing her to tense, only to find that it was one of her babies mumbling in his sleep. Lu apparently, which meant that he would be waking soon. Instead of waiting for that to happen, Mercy got up from her position on the grass, walking towards the hammock. She carefully picked up her oldest and sat on the ground with him resting beside her. Lu wasn't as much of a mommy's boy as Al, but he clung to his mother all the same, greeting her with the same hazel eyes as her own.
"Hey baby boy, you have a nice nap?"
The answer she got was more of a yawn, but she accepted that. "Wanna watch the special sky with mommy? Look Lu~" She pointed to the sky, watching as Lu followed the direction of her finger, eyes widening. "Pretty right?" The toddler smiled and reached out to the stars with the intent to grab one out of the sky. "Mine?" Mercy laughed quietly, rubbing her nose against his, "Yes all yours. You catch as many of those pretty sky rocks as you can." Lu happily stood up, twirling around with his arms raised to the sky.
Mercy stood up just as Al started to stir upon hearing his brother play. Two pairs of sunset colored eyes met her gaze as she made her way over to take her youngest. "Well, have a nice nap?" She rubbed her nose against Al's his giggle like music to her ears. Balancing him against her chest, she leaned over to give her husband a kiss. "Well hello there handsome~" She was tempted to cuddle, since the boys were up, dad was not long to follow. She walked with Al, twirling him around just as Cass came to twirl Lu. The sound of her boys laughter combined with the all the love and affection she had for her husband made her realize that even if there was some sort of weird dimension where none of this happened, she would still want to be exactly where she is now.
She really couldn't think of anything else she wanted more than this.
