Quote: Disappearances (14) : People are missing. Maybe they’re people you know, maybe you’ve just heard about it on the news. They’re just disappearing. In front of you one second, gone the next, sucked into some between-space. Into some hole that flickers out of sight once it’s swallowed them up. Maybe you got sucked in–right into a strange strange black expanse, with no access to anyone else or any exits. The pull would have been magnetic, almost unavoidable. Some might escape, but maybe you didn’t. Electronics don't work and characters cannot power down. There’s no way to reach the outside world. You might feel the sensation of creatures following you, you might run into obstacles or strange environments in the darkness. While you are in this strange location you may feel hungry but will not starve to death; you may feel tired but you will not need to sleep. Maybe you were lucky and got sucked in with someone. Maybe you’re trapped there and run into someone and team up. One thing is for sure, though–once you’re here, you can’t get out on your own. Characters who get sucked into the strange between-space will not be able to participate in the ORP immediately but will have an opportunity to join partway through so if this is something you’re interested in, please keep your eye on that! If you have questions on if something is permissible, you can PM The Space Cauldron to ask!) Fang wasn't quite sure what was up with the disappearances. His fight with a corrupt Senshi hadn't turned out so great for him, though he'd tried. He just... was frustrated. He wanted everything to be solved, to make Chaos go away, and yet... What kind of a Senshi was he? He sighed, downtrodden, ears pinned back and tail hanging low, as he walked into the woods, trying to just... find a space to relax in. Out in the open. Maybe there was a big meadow-like area somewhere in the trees that he could lay in and try to feel like he was at home in. Then he came upon an alien. Like him. No, not like him like him, but she was a stranger to Earth, as he was. She was examining a tree with a large broken branch, and he leapt forward in excitement, not sure who she was, but she wasn't magical like him, not a Senshi or some kind of Chaos person, and he was excited. "Hello!" he called, then stumbled briefly as one of the holes in space opened up right near. His heart kicked into high gear (fear fear no no no) and he threw himself forward, slamming her into the tree and digging his blunted claws in, hoping that they would stay safe from it. A moment later, the hole vanished and he stepped back, grateful neither of them had been disappeared into it. "Sorry," he apologized, bowing his head, "Wanted... safe. Holes bad. Scary."

It was the same place, she was sure of it, even though it was no longer covered in snow. Fae-Fae had reviewed the coordinates and inspected the site carefully. There wasn't really a point in doing so -- she knew he wasn't going to be here -- but desperation and despair brought her weary footsteps wandering this path through the woods anyway, as if another serendipitous event would occur here. Instead, she found only the memory of meeting Caedus here before. She scrunched her face in frustration. The hazy summer breeze whispered through the trees, bringing a scent that did not belong to this forest. It was almost comforting. When she was thrown against the tree, her heart raced, and a bit of hope sparked, thinking it could be Caedus again, come to save her from another mysterious danger of the Earth forest -- but then her eyes snapped back open and she saw brown hair, and pink skin, and flailed away in disgust. It was a stranger. She drew her weapon with flaring eyes and glared. Was this senshi one of the people who had taken her friends away? Was it some White Moon retaliation against what had happened in November? Her ferocity was tempered by the senshi's apology, and the weapon was eventually dropped back to her side, but she remained cautious. It was difficult to understand what he was saying. "Wʜᴀᴛ ʜᴏʟᴇs ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴍᴇᴀɴ?" she asked.

Fang flinched back a bit at the appearance of the knife, ears drooping down, but he understood the reaction. He wouldn't like it very much if a stranger pinned him to a tree, after all. "The holes," he said, pausing to frown at the ground, trying to figure it out. "They... ap-ap-pear? And they... woosh. Suck in. People disa...disap-pear." Words were so, so frustrating, he thought, rubbing at his throat subconsciously. "Saw one. Too close. Wanted... keep safe. Al... aliens... stick together!" He wagged his tail slowly, ears perking up in cautious optimism despite her hostile reaction.

Holes? Fae-Fae's eyebrows crinkled in confusion, trying to understand Fang's explanation. She hadn't seen any holes, but had noticed things and people going missing, once a curiosity written off as carelessness -- now an emergency. Her caution eased after piecing together that they were distressed over the same thing. The way the senshi struggled with words tugged at her heart. It was familiar. Putting her weapon away for the time being, the Vanguardian brought her fingers to her ComTech and asked, gently, "Dɪᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴏʟᴇs ᴛᴀᴋᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴜɴɪᴄᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀs ᴡᴇʟʟ?"Clearly, it was an issue that needed to be addressed before they did anything else. All the while, as she studied the senshi's body language, her gaze kept being drawn to his wiggly ears. They looked so soft. It was highly tempting to reach out and touch them.

Fang gave her a long, confused look, before slowly pulling out his Senshi phone. "You mean... this? The phone?" he asked, turning it around in his hands like some sort of fidget toy. "It dumb. Fingers... flat screen, slip. Slipp-er-y? No buttons. Hard to... hard to work. And... it no understand.... how Fang talk. Fang talk to it, like.... Like was told? It say things Fang do not say!" He scowled at it. "Not smart phone. Very, very dumb." But... it sounded like... she had something different. That might help? So he looked back up at her, curious and hopeful and afraid all at once.

Fae-Fae watched and listened closely to Fang's explanation. She nodded vigorously with wide eyes at every word, it seemed, growing more animated as the alien senshi's story continued. "I sᴇᴇ. Wʜᴀᴛ ᴀɴ ɪʀʀᴇsᴘᴏɴsɪʙʟᴇ Mᴀᴜᴠɪᴀɴ. Tʜɪs ɪs ᴀɴ ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ!"And here she had thought that Mauvians had the best technology the universe had to offer. Clearly that was wrong! While she couldn't share the Vanguard's technology, she knew there were things made on Earth that would probably look better. It was worth taking time meant for official duties to deal with this. Offering Fang a hand, she led him into the city. Their first stop would be the human mall. genovianprince We can wrap here if that works. Thank you! heart
