Quote: The Reservoir (4) : The Destiny City Reservoir opened about two years ago and is an easy escape from the big city. It’s a five minute drive outside of the Eastern side of town and features clear water and sandy beaches--although, the sand here is notorious for squeaking when you step on it. It’s a hot spot for all fun summer activities, but it’s been in the news for mysterious reports of some strange, aquatic monster. Some accounts say they’ve spotted a twenty foot long, snake like creature capable of rearing a long neck high above the water. It’s hard to tell if the videos are doctored, but there are too many rumors to dismiss easily. Something strange might be lurking deep in the water. Or it’s just a hoax to get people out to the Reservoir! But…Sometimes, people feel like something is grabbing their ankle, even if they are just wading in the shallow end. In the deeper parts of the water, it gets a little more intense: something has been said to grab onto ankles and pull. People have been warned about dangerous pranks, but so far no one has been caught. In the shallow end, anyone unfortunate enough to be targeted may feel themselves being knocked off their feet and tugged into the water; anyone in deep water may feel a firm grip on their ankle, tugging them lower and lower. Somehow, anyone it targets is freed--either by wriggling and fighting, or because someone intervenes and pulls the would-be victim up. No one has drowned in the lake. Yet. It's impossible to see who, or what, is doing this, but it usually gives up after one failed attempt. Usually. While you may find yourself harassed by the supposed cryptid, or see something visibly odd in the distance, you cannot take any pictures of the creature. Who knows if you’re even being attacked by the cryptid–or just another youma? While on any ordinary hot day, Yatora would be spending time at the pool his other half had at home. But seeing as the twins were getting a bit testy with the arrival of their little sister, he decided it was time to take them out on an adventure. Xander had an older daughter that he wanted to get to know better so he figured she could come with them. It would be nice to get out of the house anyway. So, here they are at the reservoir because the beach was too crowded and despite the rumor's, he didn't think there was some stupid monster pulling some one under water or tripping them in the shallow end. He made sure he was in the water with the twins while they splashed and played. Despite the fact that Xander is actively giving all the children swimming lessons, one could never be too careful. He didn't want anything to happen to the boys on his watch, Aiesha might be a beautiful, understanding, kind woman, but he knew that if anything happened to their babies his a** was on the line and he may never recover from it. Just thinking about what Xander would do [other than finally snap] made him grimace. Sage waddled up to him with a seashell, trying to put it in his hair. "Trying to make me look like a merman little one?" He looked over to Desdemona, "Are you doing okay?" Rowan was currently trying to cling to her leg, eyes narrowing at some one that dared pass by them . Clearly the adult was paying him no attention, but that was enough for the toddler to think that the adult clearly wanted in his personal bubble. Nope, not today, his big sister was going to pick him up and that would be the end of that.

Dessie had, mostly, recovered from her shock and now she was just trying to figure out the best way to talk to Xander. She was absently sketching in her room when the twins came in and practically dragged her out, they were babbling something but she didn’t speak toddler very well. Yatora had to translate. They were going to the reservoir and she was invited, aka the second adult to help keep an eye on the twins. She agreed this time, especially since she knew she wasn’t sick… at least not the kind of sickness that could be passed to someone else. So there she was with a nearly three year old clamped to her leg like a baby marsupial, unable to move more than a few inches. “Rowan, I can’t walk like this. Come on kiddo,” Dessie pleaded with the child, gently trying to shake him off only to have him shake his head and cling tighter. “Nah I’m good,” she replied to Yatora before tapping the little boy on the head, once he looked up Dessie raised a brow. “I’ll trade you. My leg for a hug?” The toddler contemplated it before nodding. She quickly scooped the kid up and continued to walk towards the water, an action she had been doing before gaining the extra weight on her leg. Once at the water’s edge she put the child down. “Here hold my hand,” she offered her hand to the kid even as she looked over at Yatora. Maybe… but what if… but… it wasn’t exactly like she had anyone else she could ask. “Um…” She still hesitated to ask. “Can I ask you a question?” She chickened out, unable to just come out and ask.

A question? Yatora picked up Sage and walked over to Dessie, placing the toddler on his shoulders. Rowan quickly took Dessie's hand, holding tightly. There was something that gave him the feeling that he should be clinging to the adult that was right beside him. The water, something that usually looked so happy and inviting seemed scary to the toddler. He whined and attached himself to Dessie's leg again, "Up...." He looked at his sister with fearful eyes. He wanted to be where his brother was, safe on yaya's shoulders. "Sure, what's on your mind?" He took note of how Rowan was acting, looking towards the water. Usually both boys would be happily splashing about, but something seemed to keep them from even placing a toe in there. Maybe the rumors he was hearing had some truth to them? "I can take Rowan if you'd like." He could manage both boys if they were becoming too much. Despite not being their father, they seemed to listen to him just fine.

Dessie glanced down at the little boy, her gaze traveling from the boy and back to the water. Unlike Yatora, she hadn’t heard any rumors regarding the reservoir, so she didn’t quite understand why the normally boisterous little kid was so leery of the expanse of liquid. “It's ok Rowan,” She did her best to assure the toddler while dipping her toes into the cool liquid “See?” When the little one just whined and just koalaed her leg again she sighed and picked him up. She didn’t put him on her shoulders but she did hold him in her arms once again. “How do you… How would you talk to Xander about something serious? Hypothetically that is.” Her question was asked without her even facing Yatora, she couldn’t face him. Not with the way her face was burning in embarrassment. As she waited to see what the older male would say the young blonde took a step into the water, no deeper than the tops of her toes but that was enough to set off Rowan. He started to squirm and struggle, crying “No! Nooooo! Out! Oooooutttt!” While making grabby hands in Yatora’s direction. Dessie of course acquiesced, he said no so she would respect that, and stepped out of the water to walk over to Yatora, Rowen calming down instantly and becoming more and more calm the farther she got from the water’s edge.

Well, that was an interesting question. For Yatora, talking to Xander about anything was just as easy as ever, especially during and after fun times, but he could understand how his other half could seem standoffish or unapproachable. Given Dessie was his eldest, he thought she would know by now that she could approach her father about anything. Still, he understood the nervousness that comes with talking to one's parents about something that could be potentially life altering. "Well," He walked up to give Rowan a playful tap on the nose, "Its water Ro...You love water." When the toddler looked to the water and clung to Dessie like a lifeline he sighed. Maybe this wasn't the best place to take the boys? Perhaps the aquarium or beach would've been better [even though there were way too many people there for Yatora's liking]. Looking back to the blonde, Yatora pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose, "I think you should just approach him. Tell him you want to talk." That was the easiest way to put it, "But if you feel like you cant approach him, why not talk to some one you might be more comfortable with? I know Ai is very approachable, you could talk to her, and maybe come up with a way to talk to Xander about what's troubling you?" He hopped it wasn't something like she got hurt while at college. Given Yatora wasn't a very violent person, he does take these types of issues very seriously and would forgo his more laid back stance to deal out some justice. Dessie was family and he was very protective of that. "If you feel comfortable, you can talk to me. I would not tell Xander unless you specifically request it." That was apart of being a therapist, unless some one was threatening to harm themselves, your lips were sealed.

She could talk to Ai, or Rose, or Lily really but Dessie honestly thought that Xander really was the one who deserved to know first, but it was tempting. It was so tempting to just unburden herself by talking to her ‘aunts’ or Ai. Hell, even using Yatora as a sounding board was starting to seem like a good idea, even if she had only known him for a few years. That was how mixed up and confused she was about this whole thing. But no, Xander had to be told first. He had been one of the first she had opened up to, him and Lily. He had accepted her and brought her into their family. He had quite literally made her a Jacobs and had always cared for her. He deserved to know what was going on. Dessie just really didn’t want to, but it wasn’t something she could keep to herself forever. But how, how can she tell him? Absently tapping her fingers against her leg in no discernible pattern or rhythm she shook her head, “Nah, I appreciate the offer but I think it's something Xander needs to know first.” The blonde put the toddler down on the sand next to Yatora, “Here Ro I’ll show you the water is ok.” She was able to completely detach herself from the little boy and rapidly made her way to the water's edge, ignoring the fuss the kid was kicking up. She waded into the water up to mid-calf, the reservoir water just lapping at her skin right below the cut off shorts she was wearing, turning to show the boys that she was quite alright. “See. Nothing’s wrong with the water-” Something brushed against her leg and before she could do anything her foot was pulled out from under her. Dessie went down hard, water instantly going up her nose and in her mouth as she was submerged. After a moment of thrashing, and feeling like she connected with something solid with her foot, she was able to clamber to her feet. She struggled to get out of the water and once out she just sat down on the sand, far enough out of the reach of even a thought of a splash, soaked and a bit shocked. What the hell had just happened?

Alright, he did offer. It seemed like Dessie might be closer to her own answer for talking to Xander, but she knew that he was here if she needed him. Rowan started to fuss even more when Dessie placed him next to Yatora, causing him to wonder if he should place the twins back in their stroller and head home. Granted Sage was blissfully happy on his shoulders, messing with his hair. The amount of sand that he would have to get out once he got home was going to be a chore. He smiled at Dessie's dedication to show the twins that there was nothing wrong with the water, only to panic when she suddenly went under the water, placing Sage next to his brother to rush over towards the young woman. "Are you alright? What happened?" He quickly went back to the twins, placing them in their stroller. Yeah, they were going home after this. It seemed like something pulled Dessie under and that was not cool. "Perhaps we should go." Rowan was giving his older sister an "I told you so" look while Sage frowned in confusion. Did Dessie not want to swim? Why did she go in the water if she didn't want to swim?

Dessie flinched slightly when Yatora came rushing over, it wasn’t him it was just the rapid movement. It was a split second, there and gone again. A remnant of her childhood that she was working on losing. “I’m fine, I’m fine.” Her voice was a bit horse from coughing after scrambling out of the water but physically she was fine. Just wet. “I think I got tangled in trash or something.” Or something… for sure. Pale blue eyes glared out over the water. She knew what she felt. Something wrapped around her leg and pulled. Something, or someone. Either way, the day at the Reservoir was well done. There wasn’t a damn thing any of them could do about whatever was in the water, not with the twins in tow. The blonde nodded when Yatora suggested they go, there was no reason to stay. Hell, it could be dangerous for them to stay. It was possible that whatever was in the water could come out to the sand. With that thought in mind, and the fact that the kids were now in their stroller and possibly ‘in reach’ of whatever was in the water had Dessie climbing to her feet, brushing off as much sand as she could. “Come on, let's go get some ice cream,” she suggested to the twins, ruffling Rowan’s hair. The kid was a lot more observant then she was that was for sure.
