A scavenger hunt sounded like such a neat way to get reacquainted with the city after the last few years. Sure, it likely hadn’t changed much but that didn’t mean that it hadn’t changed at all and it would be interesting to learn more about the city. She had gotten a peek at others' lists and realized pretty fast that the creators of this particular event had chosen historical landmarks, art installations, and other notable locations so it was a good ‘welcome to the city’ kind of game. Perfect really, especially if she could join in on a group. It was always fun doing these kinds of things in a crowd where everyone gets to work together. Maybe they could even get food afterwards, or during, depending on how well the game was going. Oh this was going to be fun. Dawn wasn’t too concerned with the prizes, it was more the game that she was happy for.

With a bright smile the young woman approached the desk to sign up and get the list. The entry form was simple enough, a few quick answers had her handing it over with a nod of thanks. “I love your necklace by the way,” The bubbly woman said to the attendant. It was one of the little star charms that were being handed out here and there during the festivities. It was such a great idea to make them into jewelry pieces and it gave her an idea of what to do with the one she had already been gifted. If she could find more she knew exactly what she wanted to do with them. Dawn was going to exchange more pleasantries with the attendant when the person in line behind her politely coughed, reminding the strawberry blonde that there were others waiting to sign up. With a quiet apology she stepped away, slipping into the crowd. Now she just needed to find some team mates.

“Oh! Here! I would like a partner!” Lady luck seemed to be smiling down on her when Dawn heard someone ask for a partner, she assumed for the scavenger hunt since they were still near the booth running the game. She just couldn’t see who it was that asked because of the crowd. “Over here! A partner for the Scavenger Hunt please.”

The strawberry blonde stared for a second before bursting out in a peel of laughter. She giggled and chuckled for a good long second before she had enough breath to stammer out an apology. “Sorry, sorry. Swear I’m not laughing,” she gasped and held her side, “at you. Promise.” It took her another moment before she was able to stand up straight and face the other girl. “Hi Dawn… I’m Dawn,” at which point she started to giggle once more. Why was this so funny to her? She didn’t know, she just knew that it was and that's all that mattered.

“Dawn DaLumos,” She stuck her hand with a grin was just plastered over her face. She was abolutely pleased by the fact that she had met another girl named Dawn. “I would love to have a partner for this savanger hunt, if your still willing that is.

Still abnormally pleased Dawn glanced down at her own clue book and contemplated the words. “Hmmm. What about this one?” She pointed to one of the middle clues, “Unless I completely forgot the city this should be one of the old historic buildings that's pretty close by. It's totally within walking distance too, some of the others might take a bus. Unless you would rather go out farther than work our way back that is!” Sapphire blue eyes looked up from the clues and glanced over at the other Dawn.

The older girl pulled out her phone and quickly navigated to the map and started to put in their coordinates. “See, we are here and if my guess is right the building should be…” She shifted the view only a little bit, “right here! We just need to go that way,” Dawn turned slightly and pointed in a direction that led out and away from the booth for the hunt.

“After you, Dawn.” The blonde gestured in the direction they needed to go, her own mischievous grin echoing her new friend. They were on their way and together they would get this scavenger hunt done lickity split.

Nearly fifteen minutes later the duo were just about there when Dawn paused for a moment, frowning at the building that she spotted. It wasn’t one she remembered being there but it looked too old for it to be new. How could she have missed such an elegant but out of place building? As she stood there, transfixed by the structure, she felt like there was something more. Something about the building reminded her of something, a fading ghost of times past, the smell of old fabric and paper. A whisper of a dream. Something, or someone, calling out to her, murmuring something. Saying something. Words that were like fog on a bright morning, there, but impossible to make out.

A horn blaring right behind them, and the driver cussing out the car in front of them, snapped Dawn out of her dreamy moment. The building she had been looking at was missing. Gone. As if it never had been except for a small little plaque in a pretty little garden. Dawn stepped closer and tried to read the plaque, sadly it was too faded and worn to make out anything on it. Stranger and stranger…. The garden was well kept but why not replace the plaque when it was this illegible?

“I don’t know,” She answered her new friend. “Was it a house? Because I saw a building that I could have sworn was there. Not this,” She absently waved a hand at the flowers, “garden.” Blue eyes took in the other girl, Dawn absently tilting her head slightly, “Why? What did you see? I wonder if we both saw something different.” What did it mean? Why did she see that? Why did she feel like she knew that place? Like she had belonged… So many questions but no answers at all.

“I wonder,” She muttered quietly before stepping closer to the decorative little fence around the garden. The plaque wasn’t within reach but Dawn was hoping that by getting closer that she might have actually made out anything on it. “What do you think Dawn? Can you make anything out on it?”

“Me too,” Dawn admitted quietly, trying to remember as much detail about the dream building as she could but even that was fading rapidly. After a moment the reddish blonde just sighed and nodded her head. Standing there was doing them no good, might as well get on with the game and then try to get to the bottom of the mystery. But get to the bottom of it she would.

She wanted to know, “Sure! Let's go then snag some food before heading to the library.” Dawn smiled but it was a quizzical smile, “Library Hawk? Is that a new term?” Her questions were asked as they made their way onward towards the next location, the answer lost to the din of the city.
