Quote: Heatwaves (11) : An unfortunate dry spell has come over Destiny City, and a heat wave has made it all but unbearable. The heatwave is only projected to last for a week but it’s been rough. Plants are wilting, people are wilting. The city is experiencing blackouts, which isn’t helping. Thankfully, the reservoir is always open. Just, crowded. It might just be the worst part of the summer. People are passing out regularly, and the hospitals are getting too many admissions to keep up with. It’s probably just the heat and not anyone up to anything nefarious, right? Better stay hydrated and try to keep cool, and maybe avoid everyone in weird costumes, just in case. It was becoming a routine, this going out in her powered state and walking the park and residential areas near to but…not too close to her home. Honestly, it was the best exercise that Sadie ever managed to get, so perhaps becoming Targovishte was good for her health.
It was hot out tonight, and as she walked, her massive mane of hair seemed to want her to be smothered and finally, she simply couldn’t take it anymore and, summoning her windsock, jerked the fabric part away from the stick and made a makeshift hair tie, feeling an instant relief when the majority of her hair was no longer on her neck.
That was so much better. So much easier to deal with…plus, it didn’t make her look as…stupid just carrying around a windsock. But. Carrying around a stick wasn’t much better, so she kept it at her side for a while, but began to twirl it through her fingers when she grew tired of just carrying it.
There was a strange aura nearby, and it made her pause, and then move towards it. It didn’t feel…hostile, didn’t make her hair stand on end…but it didn’t feel like Carterhaugh had either.
“...Hello?”

Ugh. Fang was really, well and truly sick of this heat. If it wasn't so ridiculously humid outside, he wouldn't be having a problem. His planet had been hot, but dry, and in the meadows, the heat rolled over them on the wind, cooling them off. But here? No. It was disgustingly humid, and the wind was hot, too, thanks to all of the heat-reflective surfaces out here in the city with all of its skyscratchers and pavement and asphalt radiating the heat, trapping it in and making everyone even more miserable. Why would anyone choose to live here, anyway? It was a mess from top to bottom. He had been trying to patrol out, but eventually, the heat got the better of him and he collapsed on a nearby bench, craving some water but not having had the foresight to put some bottles in his subspace. He was just... stuck here, suffering, and hopefully not dying... His planet still needed him. Needed him to recover and come back and try to make it healthy and whole again, even if the people would never come back. He coughed, ears barely twitching to perk at the call, then he realized it was an aura and he wheezed out, "Help."

Targovishte heard the call for help, and she froze, staring at the stranger for a long, tense moment. He…
Well. He obviously wasn’t human. Or, at least that was what her eyes were telling her. Those…were ears on the top of his head…and he had too much hair to just…be…hair.
He didn’t feel…bad though. That was the only thing she could say for him. There was nothing about him that made the Page want to run off in the other direction, and in fact, she moved a little closer. “...Ah. How? What’s wrong? Are you hurt are…you…”
Hot. He was most likely hot, at least, he should be. He was so hairy...even more so than she was with her fantastic mane but.
“Ah. Um. I don’t have anything to help you with but…”
She swiftly undid the thin belt at her waist and then slid off the pink outer coat that she wore. “I can…do this at least?” With vigor, Targovishte began using the coat like a fan, wafting air towards the poor…wolf man. Thing.

Fang panted, closing his eyes and leaning into the little breeze she was providing. It didn't help very much, but it helped him enough to sit up slightly on his elbows, and finally clicked his brain into digging into his subspace and pull out a water bottle. He sipped at it slowly for a long moment, and then smiled awkwardly at the Page. "Thank you," he said, grabbing another bottle and holding it out to her. "You too?"

“Oh.” Targovishte hesitated and gave a smile, taking the bottle of water and nodding. “Ah. Yeah, thanks. It’s nasty out here…are you going to be okay?” The Page began to nervously fidget with the wooden stick from her windsock that was still in her hand, tapping it against her leg as she drank down half of the bottle in one gulp and then sighed, nodding slowly. It hit the spot, that was for sure.
“...Um. Anyway, I don’t mean to be rude or anything but I’m still really new at all this so ah…just what are you? Who are you? YOu’re not like….one of the enemies I’ve been warned about, are you? I just…you have…a lot of um. Hair. And…ears…I can’t help but notice the ears and…I think that’s actually a tail and not just your hair…I had thought it was your hair but. Nope your…hair ends there…”
Ah…maybe she should have just left him here and ran off in the other direction.
Maybe all of this stuff was just too much for her…which it was but.
This was fine.

Fang sipped at his water again, furrowing his brow at Targovishte. "No. I White Moon. I Fang, from Fang. Of Chrysocyon," he explained, thumping his fist to his chest. "You can tell I not enemy because my fuku is white." He hummed, swallowing some more water and enjoying it soothing his throat with another happy hum. "My ears and tail are because... I am Fangan. I lived long time. Alone. Not... rein—reincar? Dead and alive again. Like you," he explained with some minor frustration with his inability to say the words he wanted. "Earth strange."

“I…see.” Targovishte didn’t see. She didn’t understand in the least but…um. Good for him. “Well…I’m glad that you’re…ah. White Moon and I’m glad that you’ve lived a long time…and I’m glad that you have water and seem to be doing better…maybe…ah…”
He was crazy. That had to be it. He was some crazy senshi cosplaying a wolf or just…really into being a furry and he was crazy.
Targovishte had to leave, and do it in such a way that he wouldn’t realize that she knew he was crazy.
“It’s so hot today…I think maybe we should both head back to our homes and just take a nice cold bath, don’t you? I know that I’m about ready to just…cut all of my hair off and be bald for a while. Might do it if the heat keeps up!”
No, no she wouldn’t but…whatever. Small talk was small talk.
“Maybe we’ll run into one another again sometime, Fang, yeah? It was nice to meet you!”

Fang tilted his head, ears twitching as he stared at her in confusion. She seemed... afraid? Was it him she was afraid of? That would be new, for him. He hadn't met someone who was scared of him before. He didn't understand what she was talking about because her tone and words were just... confusing. She was too nervous for him to focus right. Talking with people and listening to them was hard enough without... whatever human weirdness she had going on. Was there some politeness thing he'd missed? She'd never said her name, so he couldn't greet her properly in his way, but he knew his way was strange anyway. And she'd never offered to shake his hand like a human would either, so... He just didn't understand and stared blankly for a moment until some of her words resonated in his brain and he slowly nodded. "Nice to meet you too, No-Name," he said with a small wag of his tail, hopefully showing her he was just being friendly.

Pausing, Targovishte hesitated and forced a smile. “Um. Targovishte. Page of Jupiter…” He could know her name at least, there wouldn't be any harm in that. There couldn’t be. It was just a name. But still, she hurried off after that, though took a moment to glance behind her, watching him and gave a shudder.
So, that had been the absolute weirdest thing she had encountered so far but…that was fine. She could handle it.
Truth be told, she didn’t have much of a choice but to handle it.
