The biggest issue with this whole ‘magical life’ shtick was the fact that Targovishte had absolutely no idea what the purpose of the bright rainbow colored wind sock was. She supposed it was some sort of a weapon, but…it didn’t do anything. Didn’t offer any protection and didn’t…make her feel safe in any way what so ever.
Humming to herself, Targovishte began digging the end of the so called weapon into the dirt of the ground, twisting it to make a small hole, the way she had done as a child using small sticks.
Well perfect. This was one use for it then. Digging very small holes. Finding which way the wind was blowing.
Perhaps announcing to the world that she was very gay? That. Seemed a little rude, not that she minded completely but.
The Page rubbed the bridge of her nose, and then froze slightly, the hair on the back of her neck standing up.
There was something…someone? Nearby and…she let her eyes roam across the area, frozen like a rabbit in a field.
“...Hello?”

Pages really were the saddest creatures in this world. Every time Marialite ran into one, she became more and more sure of that. There was the poor b*****d she'd thrown off a roof--she hoped he was resting well--and so many others, and now here was a girl with a very...bright...windsock.
Ah. Dear. Poor thing.
"Hello," she purred, and she casually swaggered forward, humming a tuneless little song as she did. "What's that you've got there? Looks pretty bright and colorful," she said. She produced one of her knives, flipping it in the air and letting it sparkle. "Mine are pretty colorful too."

Targovishte stared at the newcomer with eyes that were slightly widened with fright, but she tried to force back whatever fear she felt. “Hm. A windsock, I suppose. It doesn’t do much but it can dig small holes. So it’s just a bright, gay stick. Not…really the best for defending myself from anything. Ants, maybe. Could crush a roach. Managed to turn a monster to dust by getting it right in the back of the neck so. That’s something.”
Against her better judgment, her eyes flickered to the knife and she nodded, chewing her lip. “That’s actually stunning. I love colorful metal like that. Your outfit’s stunning too. You’ve got good taste in that, obviously.”
If the knife was a threat display…then hopefully flattery would get her everywhere.
“I’m digging a hole. Why don’t you pull up a seat and grab a stick of your own and we can see how far we can get?”

"A windsock," Marialite sighed. "God, I keep saying it,e very time I run into one of you poor Pages, but it really is pathetic what you all get sent out into the world with." She shook her head slowly. "I used to just have a pretty little prism. Now, I've got these," she flipped her knife again, "and it is leaps and bounds better, honey, believe me."
She paused, and tapped the flat of her knife against her cheek. "Oh! What's your name, I guess it'd be rude to just keep calling you pet names if we're gonna talk."
She did, in fact, plop down into a seat, but didn't make a move to start digging for herself.
"And what's got a pretty thing like you sitting around and using your precious magical artifact to dig holes"

“At least you upgraded from a prism to knives. Gives me hope!” Targovishte forced a small smile, digging the bottom of her windsock deeper into the dark dirt and reaching down to pull out the rock that was in her way.
“I’m Targovishte, Page of Jupiter. And you? Also, I’m just trying to think of ways that the windsock can be useful, I suppose. And digging seemed like something fun. I can’t remember the last time I just sat and dug a hole with a stick. Must have been…twenty years ago by now if I’m honest with myself.”
Glancing over at the stranger, the Page shrugged. “...Sometimes you just have to dig a hole, and I’m sure you can understand that. But. What do you want to talk about?”

"Oh, uh," Marilaite smield wryly, "I had to join the Negaverse to get that." She gestured casually with her knife, but was careful to keep it from getting too close to Miss Targovishte. No reason to actually hurt her, since she was being so nice and chatty, and didn't at all seem terrified of Marialite.
And she wasn't rude, like that ridiculous Saturn Page she'd had to kill.
"I'm Captain Marialite. It's very nice to meet you, Targovishte." She flipped her knife again. "You said I was pretty--so are you."
The knife vanished, tucked into subspace, and she put her elbow on her chin and leaned her cheek into it.
"I guess sometimes you do just have to think your thoughts and dig a hole, huh? But don't worry! I think that even for you Knights, your weapons get better as they get stronger. And you're supposed to get magic, which I guess must be nice!"
Marialite would take knives every time,but, well, not everyone was her.

The…Negaverse. That…was the name of the ones who sent those monsters, wasn’t it? That…
…Ah. No wonder the woman made the hair on the back of her neck stand on end. She was…the enemy or…whatever. “Oh. Well. I’ll have to keep that in mind, that joining the Negaverse gives better weapons, but…I’d get magic? That’s pretty sweet. Maybe I’ll see what they give me and decide what to do then, but. I hope that you and I can be friends in the meantime. You’re obviously smart and know what you’re doing, so if you have any advice to share, I’m all ears, Marialite.”
s**t. Even her name was pretty.
“...Can I ask a stupid question? Like, it’s a little personal but, how long does it normally take for your hair to dry after a shower? I know mine can take almost six hours if I just leave it down to dry on its own, it’s thick as s**t so. With hair as long as yours I literally can’t even imagine.”

"You really should," Marialite said, and she laughed. The Negaverse really was the better option all around, as far as she was concerned. Sure, okay, there was the murder and the energy draining, but if you simply chose not to give a s**t about that, it really was the ideal place to be.
She stretched, and gave a brief nod. "Keep your options open! That's smart. Because your upgraded weapon or your magic might suck, and then, you know. We're here for you. I'm here for you." Specifically. Certainly.
The question amde her blink, and then she started laughing all over again. "Oh, my god, so long, you wouldn't believe. I think about cutting it a lot but I look so cute with it long, I'd hate to let it go. So I just gotta blow-dry it every time because otherwise it'd be wet hair for days."

“Disgusting! But I agree, you do look amazing with your long hair. Like a fairy princess.”
Targovishte smiled brightly and then kicked her small hole with a sigh, getting to her feet. “I’m going to head home, I think. But I hope that I can see you again sometime, Marialite. And, if you ever do cut your hair…make sure you donate it yeah? You could make a big difference to a lot of kids out there I bet.” With a small finger wave, the Page turned around, her mind busy with all of the thoughts of the future. Of magic and knives and…honestly?
She was excited to see what was going to come from everything.
