The Charity Benefit (9) : A number of the local businesses in the area have come together to organize a charity benefit. In addition to a silent auction, there is also an evening charity ball. The community has been wanting to raise funds to fix up a few public areas for some time now and in the spirit of the Star Festival, these businesses have donated several prizes to the event to encourage people to attend. Some old warehouses and estates have been cleared out by the city, so there’s a wide variety of strange antiques and hidden treasures. As one of the local residents you have been kindly invited to attend! Formal attire is encouraged but only required if you plan to attend the Ball. It’s a good opportunity to dress up, meet new people, and maybe go home with something neat. Who knows what you can find to trade with Almadel, anyway? And, he’s always back in town for the Star Festival.Strangely enough, not only was Darius in his Human Glamour, but he was wearing some sort of weird costume - called a tuxedo - some kind of Human Formal Wear, that included these straps of you tie around your neck... that couldn't be right, could it? He fiddled with the tie and especially with his uncomfortable shoes that pinched and pried at his feet that were mainly not used to wearing shoes - though once in a while he wore more comfortable sneakers. Daddy leaned within earshot and whispered, "Calm down." He was in his Police Dress Blues. Dari remembered that was why they were here. Daddy was a new Police Officer and so, he was invited to the Charity Benefit. Daddy said he had what was called a +1 or was able to invite one person to come with him, and he chose Dari.

Aurora was at the charity event she was wearing a blue dress that went to just above her knee. She loved it and she had a purse on her sholder. She loved the chairty benifit and was excited to see what she could find. She was curious to see if they had any old books for sale or something else that might catch her eye. She turned and saw a guy in a dress police uniform. She saw the little boy with him and she smiled at them both. "Hi how are you two doing this evening? I'm Aurora Foxwell." She said in greeting.

"Hello, Miss, it is a pleasure." The officer said. "I'm Officer Andrew Bones, and this is my adopted son, Darius, thought he likes to be called Dari." Dari was a little shy but nodded and smiled. Just then, the MC for the Event made an announcement. "The Benefactors of the Event would like to thank the anonymous donator of over 500 perfectly refurbished antique electronic toys for the children. Truely no knows who donated them and they are in excellent condition. Will the anonymous donator please step forward and be recognized?" "Oh, my goodness," Drew exclaimed. "That's wonderful! Wonder who it was? What do you think, Dari - Dari?" Dari was zoning off into space, remembering... Daddy was explaining about this event he wanted Dari to go to with him. "It's called a Charity Benefit." "What's a 'Char-ri-ty', Daddy?" Dari asked. Daddy explained and told him about the children in need.
Children in need? How could he do nothing? Just dress in some fancy outfit and dance and eat. So, he went to his workroom in the Order Mauvian HQ late that night and worked tirelessly for days repairing old junk or what Humans would call junk - they were dated toys that had fallen apart over time. When he finished, he cleaned up and painted them like new. Getting here without being seen was some task... and then there was that note... Dari just smiled his mischievous smile.

Aurora smiled and then said "It's nice to meet you both." Aurora listened and she said "That is really wonderful, this whole event is really great." She looked at the mischievous smile and she laughed. "Did you work on the toys with your dad to donate to the charity benefit?" She asked curious to know if the little boy and his dad were the sources of the many toys. She had donated some books but nothing like they may have donated. The generosity from the members of this city was rather amazing. She knew that senshis took time out of their lives to patrol and protect the city.

Drew smiled. "Unfortunately, all I have time for, to help this city is to protect it... in more ways than one. And to raise my son, Dari here. You know what they say, one of the major ways to change the world is to raise a child." And then he looked curiously at Dari - did he do it. "Now, I wouldn't put it past Dari - he is very intelligent in mechanics and electronics and the like. Aren't you?" He grinned and gently cuffed Dari on the neck, lovingly. Drew shyly grinned. "As if I could do all that in one night."

Aurora laughed thinking about her own patrols as a senshi, she didn't protect the city as a police officer but she did protect it as a senshi, not that she could say that since it wasn't something to be shared off hand. There was no way to know if she was accidentally telling negaverse agent rather than a white moon senshi. She smiled at the little boy and said "Well you have done an amazing job that I'm sure will make a great number of other children happy, you are a wonder." She said impressed that the little boy had such amazing skill. She had never heard of a boy his age being so skilled with technology. She didn't consider that they might be a guardian cat in human form. She had never really spoken to a guardian cat beyond the one that had told her she was the senshi of books. So she moved on since the thought didn't cross her mind and smiled at the little boy. "So are you having fun at the party?" She asked hoping he was having a nice time and wasn't bored with the event.

Dari frowned, and hid behind Drew, he did not like big parties, especially of humans. This lady was nice though. "Thank you." He replied and further, "it's okay, I'm used to it." It was at that exact moment; that Dari's watch went off. "Daddy," he said alarmed. "Ten-minute warning." Officer Bones looked down at his son, mildly alarmed. "Alright, Dari." He turned to Aurora and said sadly, "We apologize, but we must leave at once. It was a pleasure meeting you miss." With that they turned walked confidently out the door. As Dari was making his way out, his foot hit a Star Charm, someone had left carelessly on the floor and it skittered away.

Aurora nodded and said her farewells to the pair. She figured the pair had to get going the boy was young, she was surprised that he was worried about getting to bed on time. He must be a very responsible young man. She smiled and nodded to the pair as she went to greet others at the charity event. She bought a few things and then gathered her things and got ready to leave herself. She wanted to patrol a little bit more before heading home to sleep for the night. She had a city to protect to after all. On her way out she found a blue star charm laying on the ground and she picked it up. (Fin)
